¹The word of Jehovah that came unto Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

¹Herrens ord som kom til Hoseas, Be'eris sønn, i de dager da Ussias, Jotam, Akas, Esekias var konger i Juda, og da Jeroboam, Joas' sønn, var konge i Israel.

²When Jehovah spake at the first by Hosea, Jehovah said unto Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredom and children of whoredom; for the land doth commit great whoredom, [departing] from Jehovah.

²Da Herren begynte å tale til Hoseas, sa Herren til ham: Gå og få dig en horkvinne og horebarn! For landet driver hor og følger ikke mere Herren.

³So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived, and bare him a son.

³Da gikk han og ektet Gomer, Dibla'ims datter, og hun blev fruktsommelig og fødte ham en sønn.

⁴And Jehovah said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease.

⁴Og Herren sa til ham: Kall ham Jisre'el! For om en liten stund vil jeg hjemsøke Jisre'els blodskyld på Jehus hus og gjøre ende på kongedømmet i Israels hus;

⁵And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

⁵og det skal skje på den dag at jeg sønderbryter Israels bue i Jisre'els dal.

⁶And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And [Jehovah] said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah; for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel, that I should in any wise pardon them.

⁶Og hun blev atter fruktsommelig og fødte en datter, og han sa til ham: Kall henne Lo-Ruhama*! For jeg vil ikke mere miskunne mig over Israels hus, så jeg skulde tilgi dem; {* den som ikke fÃ¥r miskunn.}

⁷But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by Jehovah their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

⁷men over Judas hus vil jeg miskunne mig, og jeg vil frelse dem ved Herren deres Gud; jeg vil ikke frelse dem ved bue eller sverd eller krig, ved hester eller ryttere.

⁸Now when she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.

⁸Da hun hadde avvent Lo-Ruhama, blev hun atter fruktsommelig og fødte en sønn.

⁹And [Jehovah] said, Call his name Lo-ammi; for ye are not my people, and I will not be your [God].

⁹Og han sa: Kall ham Lo-Ammi*! For I er ikke mitt folk, og jeg vil ikke tilhøre eder. {* ikke mitt folk.}

¹⁰Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass that, in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, it shall be said unto them, [Ye are] the sons of the living God.

¹⁰Men allikevel skal tallet på Israels barn bli som havets sand, som ikke lar sig måle eller telle, og det skal skje: På det sted hvor det blev sagt til dem: I er ikke mitt folk, skal det sies til dem: Den levende Guds barn!

¹¹And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall go up from the land; for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

¹¹Og Judas barn og Israels barn skal fylke sig sammen og ta sig en høvding og dra op av landet; for stor er Jisre'els dag.
