¹Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel.

¹Počujte toto slovo, ktoré ja vynášam proti vám ako nárek, dome Izraelov!

²The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

²Padla, nepovstane viacej panna Izraelova. Hodená je na svoju zem; niet toho, kto by ju pozdvihol.

³For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, to the house of Israel.

³Lebo takto hovorí Pán Hospodin: Mesto, ktoré vyvedie tisíc, ponechá zbytok sto, a to, ktoré vyvedie sto, ponechá domu Izraelovmu zbytok desať.

⁴For thus saith Jehovah unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live;

⁴Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin domu Izraelovmu: Hľadajte ma a žite!

⁵but seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.

⁵A nehľadajte Bét-ela ani nechoďte do Gilgala jako ani neprechoďte do Béršeby; lebo Gilgal pojde istotne do zajatia, a Bét-el bude na nič.

⁶Seek Jehovah, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Beth-el.

⁶Hľadajte Hospodina a žite, aby neprenikol ako oheň do domu Jozefovho, a trávil by, kým by nebolo Bét-elu toho, kto by uhasil!

⁷Ye who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth,

⁷Tí ktorí obracajú súd na palinu a spravedlivosť nechávajú na zemi.

⁸[seek him] that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth (Jehovah is his name);

⁸No, ten, ktorý učinil Plejady a Oriona, ktorý obracia tôňu smrti na ráno a deň zatemňuje na noc, ktorý privoláva vody mora a vylieva ich na tvár zeme, Hospodin je jeho meno!

⁹that bringeth sudden destruction upon the strong, so that destruction cometh upon the fortress.

⁹Ktorý pôsobí to, aby sa zableskla zkaza nad silným, a prišla zkaza na pevnosť.

¹⁰They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

¹⁰Nenávidia v bráne toho, kto karhá, a toho, kto hovorí pravdu, majú v ohavnosti.

¹¹Forasmuch therefore as ye trample upon the poor, and take exactions from him of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink the wine thereof.

¹¹A tak preto, že šliapete po chudobnom a beriete od neho bremeno obilia, nastaväli ste síce domov z tesaného kameňa, ale nebudete bývať v nich; nasadili ste vzácnych viníc, ale nebudete piť ich vína.

¹²For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins-ye that afflict the just, that take a bribe, and that turn aside the needy in the gate [from their right].

¹²Lebo znám, aké mnohé sú vaše prestúpenia a mocné vaše hriechy, ktorí trápite spravedlivého, ktorí beriete úplatok pokryť vinu a zohýnate biednych v bráne.

¹³Therefore he that is prudent shall keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.

¹³Preto rozumný mlčí v takom čase, lebo je to zlý čas.

¹⁴Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so Jehovah, the God of hosts, will be with you, as ye say.

¹⁴Hľadajte dobré a nie zlé, aby ste žili, a tak bude Hospodin, Bôh Zástupov, s vami, jako hovoríte.

¹⁵Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate: it may be that Jehovah, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

¹⁵Nenáviďte zlé a milujte dobré a postavte v bráne súd; snáď sa zmiluje Hospodin, Bôh Zástupov, nad ostatkom Jozefovým.

¹⁶Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all the broad ways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! Alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailing.

¹⁶Preto takto hovorí Hospodin, Bôh Zástupov, Pán: Po všetkých uliciach nárek, a po všetkých námestiach povedia: Beda, beda! A povolajú oráča k smútku a k náreku tých, ktorí vedia kvíliť.

¹⁷And in all vineyards shall be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.

¹⁷A po všetkých viniciach bude nárek, pretože prejdem tvojím stredom, hovorí Hospodin.

¹⁸Woe unto you that desire the day of Jehovah! Wherefore would ye have the day of Jehovah? It is darkness, and not light.

¹⁸Beda tým, ktorí si žiadajú deň Hospodinov! Načo vám je deň Hospodinov? Lebo je tmou a nie svetlom.

¹⁹As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

¹⁹Jako keď uteká niekto pred levom, a nadíde na neho medveď, alebo keď vojde do domu a oprie sa rukou o stenu, pohryzie ho had.

²⁰Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

²⁰Či nie je deň Hospodinov tmou a nie svetlom, mrákavou, a dňom, v ktorom niet jasu?

²¹I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.

²¹Nenávidím, zavrhol som vaše sviatky a nezavoniam vašich slávnostných shromaždení.

²²Yea, though ye offer me your burnt-offerings and meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.

²²Lebo ak mi aj budete obetovať zápalné obeti a svoje obilné dary obetné, nebudú mi príjemné, a na pokojné obeti vášho vykŕmeného dobytka nepozriem.

²³Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

²³Odstráň odo mňa hukot svojich piesní, ani hudbu tvojich hárf nechcem počuť.

²⁴But let justice roll down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

²⁴A tak nech sa valí súd ako vody a spravedlivosť ako nevysychajúci potok mocný.

²⁵Did ye bring unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

²⁵Či ste mi doniesli bitné obeti alebo obilný dar obetný na púšti za štyridsať rokov, dome Izraelov?

²⁶Yea, ye have borne the tabernacle of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

²⁶Ale ste nosili stán svojho Molocha a Kijjúna, svoje obrazy, hviezdu svojho boha, ktoré ste si pripravili.

²⁷Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith Jehovah, whose name is the God of hosts.

²⁷Preto vás prestehujem za Damašek, hovorí ten, ktorého meno je Hospodin, Bôh Zástupov.
