¹When I would heal Israel, then is the iniquity of Ephraim uncovered, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they commit falsehood, and the thief entereth in, and the troop of robbers ravageth without.

¹Keď liečim Izraela, zjavuje sa neprávosť Efraimova a všelijaká zlosť Samárie, lebo robia falošne, a ide zlodej; vonku rabuje rota zbojníkov.

²And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now have their own doings beset them about; they are before my face.

²Ani si nepovedia vo svojom srdci, že pamätám na všetku ich nešľachetnosť. Teraz ich obkľučujú ich skutky; sú pred mojou tvárou.

³They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

³Svojou nešľachetnosťou obveseľujú kráľa a svojimi klamstvami kniežatá.

⁴They are all adulterers; they are as an oven heated by the baker; he ceaseth to stir [the fire], from the kneading of the dough, until it be leavened.

⁴Všetci, koľko ich je, cudzoložia; podobní sú peci, vykúrenej od pekára; ten, kto roznecuje, prestane roznecovať iba od zarobenia cesta do jeho skysnutia.

⁵On the day of our king the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with scoffers.

⁵Deň nášho kráľa? Chorým ho urobily kniežatá rozpálením od vína; naťahuje svoju ruku s posmievačmi.

⁶For they have made ready their heart like an oven, while they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

⁶Lebo priblížili svoje srdce ku svojim úkladom ako pec; ich pekár spí celú noc; ráno horí ich srdce jako plápolajúci oheň.

⁷They are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

⁷Všetci sú rozpálení jako pec a žerú svojich sudcov; všetci ich kráľovia popadali; nie je medzi nimi nikoho, kto by volal ku mne.

⁸Ephraim, he mixeth himself among the peoples; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

⁸Efraim sa smiešal s národami; Efraim je podpopolným chlebom neobráteným.

⁹Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth [it] not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, and he knoweth [it] not.

⁹Cudzinci požierajú jeho silu, a on nevie o tom, i šedina ho už poprskala, a on nevie ničoho.

¹⁰And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: yet they have not returned unto Jehovah their God, nor sought him, for all this.

¹⁰Pýcha Izraelova svedčí do jeho tvári, ale sa nenavrátili k Hospodinovi, svojmu Bohu, ani ho nehľadajú napriek všetkému tomu.

¹¹And Ephraim is like a silly dove, without understanding: they call unto Egypt, they go to Assyria.

¹¹A tak je Efraim ako sprostá holubica, bez srdca, ktorá nemá rozumu. Volajú Egypt, idú do Assýrie!

¹²When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the heavens; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

¹²Hneď, ako odídu, rozostriem na nich svoju sieť; stiahnem ich dolu jako nebeské vtáctvo; budem ich trestať podľa toho, čo sa slýchalo v ich shromaždení.

¹³Woe unto them! for they have wandered from me; destruction unto them! for they have trespassed against me: though I would redeem them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

¹³Oj, beda im, že odišli odo mňa! Zkaza im, pretože zradne odpadli odo mňa, kým som ich predsa ja vykúpil, a oni hovoria proti mne lži.

¹⁴And they have not cried unto me with their heart, but they howl upon their beds: they assemble themselves for grain and new wine; they rebel against me.

¹⁴Nekričia ku mne svojím srdcom, ale zavýjajú na svojich ložiach; shromažďujú sa pre obilie a pre vínnu šťavu; uhli proti mne.

¹⁵Though I have taught and strengthened their arms, yet do they devise mischief against me.

¹⁵A ja, ktorý som ich trestal nato, aby som posilnil ich ramená, proti mne vymýšľajú zlé.

¹⁶They return, but not to [him that is] on high; they are like a deceitful bow; their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

¹⁶Obracajú sa, ale nie k Najvyššiemu; sú jako klamné lučište; ich kniežatá padnú mečom, od zúrenia ich jazyka; to bude na nich posmech v Egyptskej zemi.
