¹Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

¹Vystríhajte sa, aby ste nedávali svojej almužny pred ľuďmi nato, aby vás videli, lebo ináče nemáte odplaty u svojho Otca, ktorý je v nebesiach.

²When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

²Keď tedy dávaš almužnu, netrúb pred sebou, ako tí pokrytci robia v synagógach a na uliciach, aby ich ľudia chválili. Ameň vám hovorím, že tam majú svoju odplatu.

³But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

³Ale keď ty dávaš almužnu, nech nevie tvoja ľavica, čo robí tvoja pravica,

⁴that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

⁴aby bola tvoja almužna v skrytosti, a tvoj Otec, ktorý vidí v skrytosti, on ti odplatí zjavne.

⁵And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

⁵A keď sa modlíš, nebudeš ako tí pokrytci, lebo oni sa radi stojaci modlia v synagógach a na uhloch ulíc, aby ich ľudia videli. Ameň vám hovorím, že tam majú svoju odplatu.

⁶But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

⁶Ale keď sa ty modlíš, vojdi do svojej komôrky a zavrúc svoje dvere modli sa svojmu Otcovi, ktorý je v skrytosti, a tvoj Otec, ktorý vidí v skrytosti, odplatí ti zjavne.

⁷And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

⁷Ale keď sa modlíte, nežvatlite jako pohania, lebo sa domnievajú, že pre tú svoju mnohomluvu budú vyslyšaní.

⁸Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

⁸Teda nebuďte im podobní, lebo váš Otec vie, čo potrebujete, prv než by ste ho vy prosili.

⁹After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

⁹Vy sa tedy modlite takto: Náš Otče, ktorý si v nebesiach, nech sa posvätí tvoje meno!

¹⁰Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.

¹⁰Nech prijde tvoje kráľovstvo! Nech sa stane tvoja vôľa jako v nebi, tak aj na zemi!

¹¹Give us this day our daily bread.

¹¹Daj nám dnes náš každodenný chlieb

¹²And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

¹²a odpusť nám naše viny, jako aj my odpúšťame svojim vinníkom,

¹³And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil [one.]

¹³a neuvoď nás v pokušenie, ale nás zbav zlého, lebo tvoje je kráľovstvo i moc i sláva na veky. Ameň.

¹⁴For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

¹⁴Lebo ak odpustíte ľuďom ich poklesky, odpustí aj vám váš nebeský Otec;

¹⁵But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

¹⁵ale ak vy neodpustíte ľuďom ich pokleskov, neodpustí ani váš Otec vašich pokleskov.

¹⁶Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

¹⁶A keď sa postíte, nebuďte jako tí pokrytci zamračení, lebo znetvarujú svoju tvár, aby bolo viditeľné ľuďom, že sa postia. Ameň vám hovorím, že už majú svoju odplatu.

¹⁷But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;

¹⁷Ale ty, keď sa postíš, pomaž svoju hlavu a svoju tvár umy,

¹⁸that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee.

¹⁸aby nebolo viditeľné ľuďom, že sa postíš, ale tvojmu Otcovi, ktorý je v skrytosti, a tvoj Otec, ktorý vidí v skrytosti, odplatí ti zjavne.

¹⁹Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal:

¹⁹Neshromažďujte si pokladov na zemi, kde moľ a hrdza kazí, a kde sa zlodeji prekopávajú a kradnú;

²⁰but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

²⁰ale si shromažďujte poklady v nebi, kde ani moľ ani hrdza nekazí, a kde sa zlodeji neprekopávajú ani nekradnú;

²¹for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.

²¹lebo kde je váš poklad, tam bude i vaše srdce.

²²The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

²²Sviecou tela je oko. Keby tedy bolo tvoje oko prosté, celé tvoje telo bude svetlé;

²³But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is the darkness!

²³ale keby bolo tvoje oko zlé, celé tvoje telo bude tmavé. Ak tedy svetlo, ktoré je v tebe, je tmou, jaká veľká bude sama tma?

²⁴No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

²⁴Nikto nemôže slúžiť dvom pánom, lebo buď jedného bude nenávidieť a druhého milovať, buď jedného sa bude pridŕžať a druhým pohŕdať - nemôžete slúžiť Bohu i mamonu.

²⁵Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?

²⁵Preto vám hovorím: Nestarajte sa o svoj život, že čo budete jesť alebo čo budete piť, ani o svoje telo, čím sa odejete. Či nie je život viac ako pokrm a telo ako odev?

²⁶Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value then they?

²⁶Pozrite na nebeské vtáctvo, že nesejú ani nežnú ani neshromažďujú do stodôl, a váš nebeský Otec ich živí! A či ich vy o veľa neprevyšujete?

²⁷And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life?

²⁷A kto z vás starajúc sa môže pridať k veľkosti svojej postavy jeden lakeť?

²⁸And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

²⁸A o odev prečože sa staráte? Povážte poľné ľalie, ako rastú: nepracujú ani nepradú;

²⁹yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

²⁹a hovorím vám, že ani Šalamún v celej svojej sláve nebol tak odiaty jako jedna z nich.

³⁰But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith?

³⁰Ak tedy poľnú trávu, ktorá je dnes a zajtra môže byť hodená do pece, Bôh tak odieva, či azda vás nie o veľa viacej? Ľudia malej viery!

³¹Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

³¹Nestarajte sa tedy a nehovorte: Čo budeme jesť? alebo: Čo budeme piť? alebo: Čím sa zaodejeme?

³²For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

³²Lebo to všetko hľadajú pohania, a veď váš nebeský Otec vie, že to všetko potrebujete.

³³But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

³³Ale hľadajte najprv kráľovstvo Božie a jeho spravedlivosť, a to všetko vám bude pridané.

³⁴Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

³⁴Teda nestarajte sa o zajtrajší deň, lebo zajtrajší deň sa bude starať o svoje veci. Dosť má deň na svojom trápení.
