1Thou therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
1Basi, wewe mwanangu, uwe na nguvu katika neema tunayopata katika kuungana na Kristo Yesu.
2And the things which thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

3Suffer hardship with [me], as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

4No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of [this] life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

5And if also a man contend in the games, he is not crowded, except he have contended lawfully.

6The husbandmen that laboreth must be the first to partake of the fruits.

7Consider what I say; for the Lord shall give thee understanding in all things.
7Fikiria hayo ninayosema, kwani Bwana atakuwezesha uyaelewe yote.
8Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel:
8Mkumbuke Yesu Kristo aliyefufuliwa kutoka wafu, aliyekuwa wa ukoo wa Daudi, kama isemavyo Habari Njema ninayoihubiri.
9wherein I suffer hardship unto bonds, as a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound.
9Kwa sababu ya kuihubiri Habari Njema mimi nateseka na nimefungwa minyororo kama mhalifu. Lakini neno la Mungu haliwezi kufungwa minyororo,
10Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
10na hivyo navumilia kila kitu kwa ajili ya wateule wa Mungu, ili wao pia wapate ukombozi upatikanao kwa njia ya Yesu Kristo, na ambao huleta utukufu wa milele.
11Faithful is the saying: For if we died with him, we shall also live with him:
11Usemi huu ni wa kweli: "Ikiwa tulikufa pamoja naye, tutaishi pia pamoja naye.
12if we endure, we shall also reign with him: if we shall deny him, he also will deny us:
12Tukiendelea kuvumilia, tutatawala pia pamoja naye. Tukimkana, naye pia atatukana.
13if we are faithless, he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself.
13Tukikosa kuwa waaminifu, yeye hubaki mwaminifu daima, maana yeye hawezi kujikana mwenyewe."
14Of these things put them in remembrance, charging [them] in the sight of the Lord, that they strive not about words, to no profit, to the subverting of them that hear.
14Basi, wakumbushe watu wako mambo haya, na kuwaonya mbele ya Mungu waache ubishi juu ya maneno. Ubishi huo haufai, ila huleta tu uharibifu mkuu kwa wale wanaousikia.
15Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of truth.
15Jitahidi kupata kibali kamili mbele ya Mungu kama mfanyakazi ambaye haoni haya juu ya kazi yake, na ambaye hufundisha sawa ule ujumbe wa kweli.
16But shun profane babblings: for they will proceed further in ungodliness,
16Jiepushe na majadiliano ya kidunia na ya kipumbavu; kwani hayo huzidi kuwatenga watu mbali na Mungu.
17and their word will eat as doth a gangrene: or whom is Hymenaeus an Philetus;
17Mafundisho ya aina hiyo ni kama donda linalokula mwili. Miongoni mwa hao waliofundisha hayo ni Humenayo na Fileto.
18men who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some.
18Hawa wamepotoka kabisa mbali na ukweli, na wanatia imani ya watu wengine katika wasiwasi kwa kusema ati ufufuo wetu umekwisha fanyika.
19Howbeit the firm foundation of God standeth, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his: and, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.
19Lakini msingi thabiti uliowekwa na Mungu uko imara, na juu yake yameandikwa maneno haya: "Bwana anawafahamu wale walio wake," na "Kila asemaye yeye ni wa Bwana, ni lazima aachane na uovu."
20Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some unto honor, and some unto dishonor.
20Katika nyumba kubwa kuna mabakuli na vyombo vya kila namna: vingine ni vya fedha na dhahabu, vingine vya mbao na udongo, vingine ni vya matumizi ya pekee na vingine kwa ajili ya matumizi ya kawaida.
21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, meet for the master's use, prepared unto every good work.
21Basi, kama mtu atajitakasa kwa kujitenga mbali na mambo hayo yote maovu, atakuwa chombo cha matumizi ya pekee, kwa sababu amewekwa wakfu, anamfaa Bwana wake na yupo tayari kwa kila kazi njema.
22after righteousness, faith, love, pace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
22Jiepushe na tamaa za ujana, fuata uadilifu, imani, upendo, amani, pamoja na watu wote ambao wanamwomba Bwana kwa moyo safi.
23But foolish and ignorant questionings refuse, knowing that they gender strifes.
23Epuka ubishi wa kijinga na kipumbavu; wajua kwamba hayo huleta magomvi.
24And the Lord's servant must not strive, but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing,
24Mtumishi wa Bwana asigombane. Anapaswa kuwa mpole kwa watu wote, mwalimu mwema na mvumilivu,
25in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth,
25ambaye ni mpole anapowaonya wapinzani wake, kwani huenda Mungu akawajalia nafasi ya kutubu, wakapata kuujua ukweli.
26and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him unto his will.
26Hapo fahamu zao zitawarudia tena, wakaponyoka katika mtego wa Ibilisi aliyewanasa na kuwafanya wayatii matakwa yake.
