¹And Jehovah appeared unto him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

¹பின்பு கர்த்தர் மம்ரேயின் சமபூமியிலே அவனுக்குத் தரிசனமானார். அவன் பகலின் உஷ்ணவேளையில் கூடாரவாசலிலே உட்கார்ந்திருந்து,

²and he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood over against him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,

²தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப் பார்க்கும்போது, இதோ, மூன்று புருஷர் அவனுக்கு எதிரே நின்றார்கள்; அவர்களைக் கண்டவுடனே, அவன் கூடாரவாசலிலிருந்து அவர்களுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு ஓடித் தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து:

³and said, My lord, if now I have found favor in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

³ஆண்டவரே, உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குக் கிருபை கிடைத்ததானால், நீர் உமது அடியேனைவிட்டுக் கடந்துபோகவேண்டாம்.

⁴let now a little water be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

⁴கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் கொண்டுவரட்டும், உங்கள் கால்களைக் கழுவி, மரத்தடியில் சாய்ந்துகொண்டிருங்கள்.

⁵and I will fetch a morsel of bread, and strengthen ye your heart; after that ye shall pass on: forasmuch as ye are come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

⁵நீங்கள் உங்கள் இருதயங்களைத் திடப்படுத்தக் கொஞ்சம் அப்பம் கொண்டுவருகிறேன்; அப்புறம் நீங்கள் உங்கள் வழியே போகலாம்; இதற்காகவே அடியேன் இடம்வரைக்கும் வந்தீர்கள் என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நீ சொன்னபடி செய் என்றார்கள்.

⁶And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.

⁶அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் தீவிரமாய்க் கூடாரத்தில் சாராளிடத்திற்குப் போய்: நீ சீக்கிரமாய் மூன்றுபடி மெல்லிய மாவு எடுத்துப் பிசைந்து, அப்பம் சுடு என்றான்.

⁷And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto the servant; and he hasted to dress it.

⁷ஆபிரகாம் மாட்டுமந்தைக்கு ஓடி, ஒரு நல்ல இளங்கன்றைப் பிடித்து, வேலைக்காரன் கையிலே கொடுத்தான்; அவன் அதைச் சீக்கிரத்தில் சமைத்தான்.

⁸And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

⁸ஆபிரகாம் வெண்ணெயையும் பாலையும் சமைப்பித்த கன்றையும் எடுத்து வந்து, அவர்கள் முன்பாக வைத்து, அவர்கள் அருகே மரத்தடியில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான்; அவர்கள் புசித்தார்கள்.

⁹And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.

⁹அவர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: உன் மனைவி சாராள் எங்கே என்றார்கள்? அதோ கூடாரத்தில் இருக்கிறாள் என்றான்.

¹⁰And he said, I will certainly return unto thee when the season cometh round; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.

¹⁰அப்பொழுது அவர்: ஒரு உற்பவகாலத்திட்டத்தில் நிச்சயமாய் உன்னிடத்திற்குத் திரும்ப வருவேன்; அப்பொழுது உன் மனைவியாகிய சாராளுக்கு ஒரு குமாரன் இருப்பான் என்றார். சாராள் அவருக்குப் பின்புறமாய்க் கூடாரவாசலில் இதைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்.

¹¹Now Abraham and Sarah were old, [and] well stricken in age; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

¹¹ஆபிரகாமும் சாராளும் வயது சென்று முதிர்ந்தவர்களாயிருந்தார்கள்; ஸ்திரீகளுக்குள்ள வழிபாடு சாராளுக்கு நின்றுபோயிற்று.

¹²And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

¹²ஆகையால், சாராள் தன் உள்ளத்திலே நகைத்து: நான் கிழவியும், என் ஆண்டவன் முதிர்ந்த வயதுள்ளவருமான பின்பு, எனக்கு இன்பம் உண்டாயிருக்குமோ என்றாள்.

¹³And Jehovah said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, who am old?

¹³அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: சாராள் நகைத்து, நான் கிழவியாயிருக்கப் பிள்ளைபெறுவது மெய்யோ என்று சொல்வானேன்?

¹⁴Is anything too hard for Jehovah? At the set time I will return unto thee, when the season cometh round, and Sarah shall have a son.

¹⁴கர்த்தரால் ஆகாத காரியம் உண்டோ? உற்பவகாலத்திட்டத்தில் உன்னிடத்திற்குத் திரும்ப வருவேன்; அப்பொழுது சாராளுக்கு ஒரு குமாரன் இருப்பான் என்றார்.

¹⁵Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.

¹⁵சாராள் பயந்து, நான் நகைக்கவில்லை என்று மறுத்தாள். அதற்கு அவர்: இல்லை, நீ நகைத்தாய் என்றார்.

¹⁶And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.

¹⁶பின்பு அந்தப் புருஷர் எழுந்து அவ்விடம் விட்டு, சோதோமை நோக்கிப் போனார்கள்; ஆபிரகாமும் அவர்களோடே கூடப்போய் வழிவிட்டனுப்பினான்.

¹⁷And Jehovah said, Shall I hide from Abraham that which I do;

¹⁷அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: ஆபிரகாம் பெரிய பலத்த ஜாதியாவதினாலும், அவனுக்குள் பூமியிலுள்ள சகல ஜாதிகளும் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவதினாலும்,

¹⁸seeing that Abraham had surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

¹⁸நான் செய்யப்போகிறதை ஆபிரகாமுக்கு மறைப்பேனோ?

¹⁹For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

¹⁹கர்த்தர் ஆபிரகாமுக்குச் சொன்னதை நிறைவேற்றும்படியாய் அவன் தன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும், தனக்குப் பின்வரும் தன் வீட்டாருக்கும்: நீங்கள் நீதியையும் நியாயத்தையும் செய்து, கர்த்தருடைய வழியைக் காத்து நடவுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிடுவான் என்பதை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.

²⁰And Jehovah said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

²⁰பின்பு கர்த்தர் சோதோம் கொமோராவின் கூக்குரல் பெரிதாயிருப்பதினாலும், அவைகளின் பாவம் மிகவும் கொடிதாயிருப்பதினாலும்,

²¹I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

²¹நான் இறங்கிப்போய், என்னிடத்தில் வந்து எட்டின அதின் கூக்குரலின்படியே அவர்கள் செய்திருக்கிறார்களோ இல்லையோ என்று பார்த்து அறிவேன் என்றார்.

²²And the men turned from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before Jehovah.

²²அப்பொழுது அந்தப் புருஷர் அவ்விடம் விட்டுச் சோதோமை நோக்கிப் போனார்கள்; ஆபிரகாமோ பின்னும் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான்.

²³And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou consume the righteous with the wicked?

²³அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் சமீபமாய்ச் சேர்ந்து: துன்மார்க்கனோடே நீதிமானையும் அழிப்பீரோ?

²⁴Peradventure there are fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?

²⁴பட்டணத்துக்குள்ளே ஒருவேளை ஐம்பது நீதிமான்கள் இருப்பார்கள், அதற்குள் இருக்கும் அந்த ஐம்பது நீதிமான்கள் நிமித்தம் இரட்சியாமல் அந்த ஸ்தலத்தை அழிப்பீரோ?

²⁵That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that so the righteous should be as the wicked; that be far from thee: shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

²⁵துன்மார்க்கனோடே நீதிமானையும் சங்கரிப்பது உமக்குத் தூரமாயிருப்பதாக; நீதிமானையும் துன்மார்க்கனையும் சமமாய் நடப்பிப்பது உமக்குத் தூரமாயிருப்பதாக; சர்வலோக நியாயாதிபதி நீதிசெய்யாதிருப்பாரோ என்றான்.

²⁶And Jehovah said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sake.

²⁶அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: நான் சோதோமில் ஐம்பது நீதிமான்களைக் கண்டால், அவர்கள் நிமித்தம் அந்த ஸ்தலமுழுதையும் இரட்சிப்பேன் என்றார்.

²⁷And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, who am but dust and ashes:

²⁷அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இதோ, தூளும் சாம்பலுமாயிருக்கிற அடியேன் ஆண்டவரோடே பேசத்துணிந்தேன்.

²⁸peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find there forty and five.

²⁸ஒருவேளை ஐம்பது நீதிமான்களுக்கு ஐந்துபேர் குறைந்திருப்பார்கள்; அந்த ஐந்துபேர்நிமித்தம் பட்டணமுழுதையும் அழிப்பீரோ என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்: நான் நாற்பத்தைந்து நீதிமான்களை அங்கே கண்டால், அதை அழிப்பதில்லை என்றார்.

²⁹And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty's sake.

²⁹அவன் பின்னும் அவரோடே பேசி: நாற்பது நீதிமான்கள் அங்கே காணப்பட்டாலோ என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்: நாற்பது நீதிமான்கள்நிமித்தம் அதை அழிப்பதில்லை என்றார்.

³⁰And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.

³⁰அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் இன்னும் பேசுகிறேன், ஆண்டவருக்குக் கோபம் வராமலிருப்பதாக; முப்பது நீதிமான்கள் அங்கே காணப்பட்டாலோ என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்: நான் முப்பது நீதிமான்களை அங்கே கண்டால், அதை அழிப்பதில்லை என்றார்.

³¹And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the twenty's sake.

³¹அப்பொழுது அவன்: இதோ, ஆண்டவரோடே பேசத்துணிந்தேன்; இருபது நீதிமான்கள் அங்கே காணப்பட்டாலோ என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்: இருபது நீதிமான்கள்நிமித்தம் அதை அழிப்பதில்லை என்றார்.

³²And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake.

³²அப்பொழுது அவன்: ஆண்டவருக்குக் கோபம் வராதிருப்பதாக; நான் இன்னும் இந்த ஒருவிசைமாத்திரம் பேசுகிறேன்; பத்து நீதிமான்கள் அங்கே காணப்பட்டாலோ என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்: பத்து நீதிமான்கள்நிமித்தம் அதை அழிப்பதில்லை என்றார்.

³³And Jehovah went his way, as soon as he had left off communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

³³கர்த்தர் ஆபிரகாமோடே பேசிமுடிந்தபின்பு போய்விட்டார்; ஆபிரகாமும் தன்னுடைய இடத்துக்குத் திரும்பினான்.
