1Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
1அப்பொழுது தேமானியனாகிய எலிப்பாஸ் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:
2If one assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?
2நாங்கள் உம்முடனே பேசத்துணிந்தால், ஆயாசப்படுவீரோ? ஆனாலும் பேசாமல் அடக்கிக்கொள்ளத்தக்கவன் யார்?
3Behold, thou hast instructed many, And thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
3இதோ, நீர் அநேகருக்குப் புத்திசொல்லி, இளைத்த கைகளைத் திடப்படுத்தினீர்.
4Thy words have upholden him that was falling, And thou hast made firm the feeble knees.
4விழுகிறவனை உம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளால் நிற்கப்பண்ணி, தள்ளாடுகிற முழங்கால்களைப் பலப்படுத்தினீர்.
5But now it is come unto thee, and thou faintest; It toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
5இப்பொழுதோ துன்பம் உமக்கு நேரிட்டபடியினால் ஆயாசப்படுகிறீர்; அது உம்மைத் தொட்டதினால் கலங்குகிறீர்.
6Is not thy fear [of God] thy confidence, [And] the integrity of thy ways thy hope?
6உம்முடைய தேவபக்தி உம்முடைய உறுதியாயும், உம்முடைய வழிகளின் உத்தமம் உம்முடைய நம்பிக்கையாயும் இருக்கவேண்டியதல்லவோ?
7Remember, I pray thee, who [ever] perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright cut off?
7குற்றமில்லாமல் அழிந்தவன் உண்டோ? சன்மார்க்கர் அதம்பண்ணப்பட்டது எப்போ? இதை நினைத்துப்பாரும்.
8According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, And sow trouble, reap the same.
8நான் கண்டிருக்கிறபடி, அநியாயத்தை உழுது, தீவினையை விதைத்தவர்கள், அதையே அறுக்கிறார்கள்.
9By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of his anger are they consumed.
9தேவனுடைய சுவாசத்தினாலே அவர்கள் அழிந்து, அவருடைய நாசியின் காற்றினாலே நிர்மூலமாகிறார்கள்.
10The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
10சிங்கத்தின் கெர்ச்சிப்பும், துஷ்டசிங்கத்தின் முழக்கமும் அடங்கும்; பாலசிங்கங்களின் பற்களும் தகர்ந்துபோகும்.
11The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.
11கிழச்சிங்கம் இரையில்லாமையால் மாண்டுபோகும், பாலசிங்கங்கள் சிதறுண்டுபோகும்.
12Now a thing was secretly brought to me, And mine ear received a whisper thereof.
12இப்போதும் ஒரு வார்த்தை என்னிடத்தில் இரகசியமாய் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது, அதினுடைய மெல்லிய ஓசை என் செவியில் விழுந்தது.
13In thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falleth on men,
13மனுஷர்மேல் அயர்ந்த நித்திரை இறங்குகையில், இராத்தரிசனங்களில் பலவித தோற்றங்கள் உண்டாகும்போது,
14Fear came upon me, and trembling, Which made all my bones to shake.
14திகிலும் நடுக்கமும் என்னைப் பிடித்தது, என் எலும்புகளெல்லாம் நடுங்கினது.
15Then a spirit passed before my face; The hair of my flesh stood up.
15அப்பொழுது ஒரு ஆவி என் முகத்துக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்தது, என் உடலின் மயிர் சிலிர்த்தது.
16It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance thereof; A form was before mine eyes: [There was] silence, and I heard a voice, [saying],
16அது ஒரு உருப்போல என் கண்களுக்குமுன் நின்றது, ஆனாலும் அதின் ரூபம் இன்னதென்று விளங்கவில்லை; அமைதலுண்டாயிற்று, அப்பொழுது நான் கேட்ட சத்தமாவது:
17Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?
17மனுஷன் தேவனைப்பார்க்கிலும் நீதிமானாயிருப்பானோ? மனுபுத்திரன் தன்னை உண்டாக்கினவரைப்பார்க்கிலும் சுத்தமாயிருப்பானோ?
18Behold, he putteth no trust in his servants; And his angels he chargeth with folly:
18கேளும், அவர் தம்முடைய பணிவிடைக்காரரிடத்தில் நம்பிக்கை வைப்பதில்லை; தம்முடைய தூதரின்மேலும் புத்தியீனத்தைச் சுமத்துகிறாரே,
19How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!
19புழுதியில் அஸ்திபாரம் போட்டு, மண் வீடுகளில் வாசம்பண்ணி, பொட்டுப்பூச்சியால் அரிக்கப்படுகிறவர்கள்மேல் அவர் நம்பிக்கை வைப்பது எப்படி?
20Betwixt morning and evening they are destroyed: They perish for ever without any regarding it.
20காலைமுதல் மாலைவரைக்கும் மடிந்து, கவனிப்பார் ஒருவருமில்லாமல், நித்திய அழிவடைகிறார்கள்.
21Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, and that without wisdom.
21அவர்களிலிருக்கிற அவர்களுடைய மேன்மை போய்விடுமல்லவோ? ஞானமடையாமல் சாகிறார்களே என்று சொன்னான்.
