¹उ दिना औगुस्तुस कैसर कइँती स एक हुकुम निकरा कि समूचइ रोम क राज्य मँ जनगणना दर्ज कीन्ह जाइ।

¹Now it happened in those days, that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled.

²इ पहली जनगणना रही। इ ओन दिनन भइ जब सीरिया क राज्यपाल विवरिनियुस रहा।

²This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.

³एह बरे जनगणना खारित हर कउनो आपन सहर आवा।

³All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city.

⁴यूसुफ भी, गलील क नासरत सहर स यहूदिया मँ दाऊद क सहर बैतलहम क आवा काहेकि उ दाऊद क परिवार अउर बंस क सदस्य रहा।

⁴Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;

⁵उ हुवाँ आपन होइवाली स्त्री मरियम क संग जउन गर्भवती रही, आपन नाउँ लिखावावइ ग रहा।

⁵to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.

⁶अबहिं जब उ पचे हुवाँ रहेन, मरियम क बचवा पइदा करइ क समइ आइ गवा।

⁶It happened, while they were there, that the day had come that she should give birth.

⁷अउर उ आपन पहिलौटी पूत (ईसू) क जनम दिहस। काहेकि हुवाँ सराय क भीतरे उ पचन क कउनो ठउर नाहीं मिल पावा। ऍह बरे उ ओका ओढ़ना मँ लपेटिके चरही मँ लोटाएस।

⁷She brought forth her firstborn son, and she wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.

⁸तबहीं हुवाँ उ पहँटा मँ बाहेर खेत मँ कछू गड़रियन रहेन जउन राति क समइ आपन आपन झूंड क रखवारी करत रहेन।

⁸There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.

⁹उहइ समइया पर्भू क एक दूत परगट भवा अउर ओनकइ चारिहुँ कइँती पर्भू क तेज फूटइ लाग। उ सबइ सहमि गएन।

⁹Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

¹⁰तबहीं सरगदूत ओनसे कहेस, “डेराअ जिन, मइँ सुसमाचार लइ आवा हउँ, जेसे सबइ मनइयन क महान आनंद होई।

¹⁰The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.

¹¹काहेकि आज दाऊद क सहर मँ तोहार उद्धारकर्ता मसीह पर्भू क जनम भ अहइ।

¹¹For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

¹²तोहका ओका पहिचानइ क चीन्ह होइ कि तू एक ठु बचवा क ओढ़ना मँ लपेटा भवा, चरही मँ ओलरा पउब्या।”

¹²This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”

¹³उहइ समइया एकाएक उ सरगदूते क संग ढेरि क अउर सरगदूतन हुवाँ हाजिर भएन। उ पचे इ कहत भए परमेस्सर क गुन गावत रहेन:

¹³Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,

¹⁴“सरगे मँ परमेस्सर क महिमा होइ अउर धरती प ओन मनइयन क सांति मिलइ जेहसे उ खुस होइ।”

¹⁴“Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men.”

¹⁵अउर जब सरगदूतन ओनका तजिके सरग लौटि गएन तउ उ सबइ गड़रियन आपुस मँ कहइ लागेन, “आवा हम बैतलहम चली अउर जउन घटना भइ अहइ अउर जेकॉ पर्भू हमका बताएन ह, ओका देखी।”

¹⁵It happened, when the angels went away from them into the sky, that the shepherds said one to another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

¹⁶तउ उ पचे जल्दी गएन अउर हुवाँ मरियम अउर यूसुफ क पाएन अउर निहारेन कि बचवा चरही मँ लोटा बा।

¹⁶They came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.

¹⁷गड़रियन जब ओका निहारेन तउ इ बचवा क बारे मँ जउन संदेसा ओनका दीन्ह ग रहा, उ पचे ओनका सबइ क बताइ दिहन।

¹⁷When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child.

¹⁸जउन कउनो भी ओनका सुनेन, उ पचे गड़रियन क कही बातन प अचरज करइ लागेन।

¹⁸All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.

¹⁹मुला मरियम इ सबइ बातन क आपन मनवा मँ राखि लिहेस अउर उ ओन प सोचइ बिचारइ लाग।

¹⁹But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.

²⁰अउर ओहर उ सबइ गड़रियन जउन कछू सुनेन अउर देखे रहेन, ओके बरे परमेस्सर स्तुति अउर धन्यवाद देत अपने घरन क लौटि गएन। इ सब अइसेन घटा जइसेन कि ओनका बतावा गवा रहा।

²⁰The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.

²¹अउर जब बचवा क खतने क खातिर अठवाँ दिन आइ तउ ओकर नाउँ ईसू रखेन। ओका इ नाउँ ओकरे गरभ मँ आवइ स पहिले सरगदूत दइ दिहन।

²¹When eight days were fulfilled for the circumcision of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

²²अउर जब मूसा क व्यवस्था क मुताबिक पइदा भए बचवा क सूतक क दिन पूरा होइ गवा अउर सुद्ध होइ क समइ आइ तउ उ पचे ईसू क पर्भू क अरपन करइ बरे यरूसलेम लइ गएन।

²²When the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord

²³पर्भू क लिखे भइ व्यवस्था क मुताबिक, “हर पहिलौटी क बेटवा पर्भू क बरे बिसेस मान जाई।”‘

²³(as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”), Exodus 13:2,12

²⁴अउर पर्भू क व्यवस्था कहत ह, “एक जोड़ी कबूतर या पड़ुँकी क दुइ नवा बचवा क बलिदान देइ चाही।” तउ उ पचे पर्भू क व्यवस्था क मुताबिक बलि चढ़ावइ लइ गएन।

²⁴and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, “A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” Leviticus 12:8

²⁵यरूसलेम मँ समौन नाउँ क एक धर्मी अउर भगत रहा। उ इस्राएल क सुख चइन क बाट जोहत रहा। पवित्तर आतिमा ओकरे साथ रही।

²⁵Behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.

²⁶पवित्तर आतिमा ओका परगट किए रही कि जब तलक उ पर्भू क मसीह क दर्सन नाहीं कइ लेइ, मरी नाहीं।

²⁶It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. “Christ” (Greek) and “Messiah” (Hebrew) both mean “Anointed One”

²⁷उ पवित्तर आतिमा क साथ मन्दिर मँ आवा अउर जब व्यवस्था क मुताविक कारज बरे बालक ईसू क ओकर महतारी बाप मन्दिर मँ लइ आएन।

²⁷He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the custom of the law,

²⁸तउ समौन ईसू क आपन गोदी मँ उठाइके परमेस्सर क स्तुति करत बोला:

²⁸then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

²⁹“पर्भू अब तू आपन बचन क मुताबिक मोका आपन दास क सांति क साथ मुक्ती द्या

²⁹“Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;

³⁰काहेकि मइँ आपन आँखिन स तोहरे उ उद्धार क दर्सन कइ लीन्ह ह।

³¹जेका तू सबहिं मनइयन क उपस्थिति मँ तइयार किए अहा।

³²इ बचवा गैर यहूदियन बरे तोहरे राहे का देखावय बरे ज्योति क सोता अहइ अउर तोहरे इस्राएल क मनइयन बरे इ महिमा अहइ।”

³²a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.”

³³ओकर महतारी बाप ईसू क बारे मँ कही गइ इ बातन स अचरजे मँ पड़ि गएन।

³³Joseph and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him,

³⁴फिन समौन ओनका आसीर्बाद दिहस अउर ओकर महतारी मरियम स कहेस, “इ बचवा इस्राएल मँ बहोतन क गिरावइ या उठावइ क कारण बनइ अउर एक अइसा चीन्ह ठहरावा जाइ बरे तय कीन्ह ग अहइ जेकर खिलाफत कीन्ह जाइ।

³⁴and Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, “Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.

³⁵अउर मनइयन जेका गूढ़ समझिहीं, उ लोगन क पता लगि जाई जेहसे तोहरे हिरदय क दुख होइ।”

³⁵Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

³⁶हुवँइ हन्नाह नाउँ क एक ठु महिला नबिया रही। उ असेर कबीले क फनूएल क बिटिया रही। उ बहोत बुढ़िया रही। आपन बियाहे क सिरिफ सात बरिस पाछे तलक उ आपन भतारे क साथे रही।

³⁶There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,

³⁷अउर फिन चौरासी बरिस तलक उ विधवा रही। उ मन्दिर कबहुँ नाहीं तजेस। उपवास अउर पराथना करत भइ उ रात-दिन आराधना करत रही।

³⁷and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshipping with fastings and petitions night and day.

³⁸उहइ समइ उ उहाँ महतारी बाप क लगे आइ। उ परमेेस्सर क धन्यवाद दिहस अउर जउन मनइयन यरूसलेम क छुटकारा क बाट जोहत रहेन, उ ओन सबन्क छोड़ावइ क बारे मँ बताएस।

³⁸Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.

³⁹अउर जब उ पचे पर्भू क व्यवस्था क मुताविक सब कछू पूरा कइ लिहेन तउ उ सबइ गलील मँ आपन सहर नासरत लौटि आएन।

³⁹When they had accomplished all things that were according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.

⁴⁰अउर उ बालक बाढ़इ लाग अउर हिट्ठ पुट्ठ होइ लाग। उ बहोत बुद्धिमान रहा अउर ओह प परमेस्सर क अनुग्रह रही।

⁴⁰The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

⁴¹फसह क त्यौहार प हर बरिस ओकर महतारी बाप यरूसलेम जात रहेन।

⁴¹His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.

⁴²जब उ बारह बरिस क रहा तउ सदा क नाई उ पचे त्यौहार प गएन।

⁴²When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast,

⁴³जब त्यौहार खतम भवा अउर उ सबइ घरवा लौटत रहेन तउ बालक ईसू यरूसलेम मँ रुकि गवा मुला महतारी बाप क ऍकर जानकारी नाहीं होइ पाइ।

⁴³and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. Joseph and his mother didn’t know it,

⁴⁴इ बिचारत भए कि उ दले मँ कहूँ होई, उ सबइ दिन भर जात्रा करत रहेन। फिन उ सबइ ओका आपन नातेदारन अउर नजदीकी मीतन मँ हेरइ लागेन।

⁴⁴but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey, and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.

⁴⁵अउर जब उ ओनका नाहीं मिल पावा तउ उ सबइ हेरत हेरत उ पचे यरूसलेम लौटि आएन।

⁴⁵When they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him.

⁴⁶अउर फिन भवा ई कि तीन दिना बाद उ ओहका मन्दिर मँ पाएन। उ उपदेस देइ वालेन क साथ बइठ के ओनका सुनत रहा अउर ओनसे सवाल पूछत रहा।

⁴⁶It happened after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.

⁴⁷उ सबहिं जउन ओसे सुने रहेन, ओकर समझ बूझ अउर ओकरे सवाले क जवाब स अचरजे मँ पड़ि गएन।

⁴⁷All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

⁴⁸जब ओकर महतारी बाप ओका निहारेन तउ दंग रहि गएन। ओकर महतारी ओसे पूछेस, “बेटवा, तू हमरे साथ अइसा काहे किहा? तोहार बाप अउर मइँ तोहका हेरत हेरत बहोतइ फिकिर मँ रहेन।”

⁴⁸When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.”

⁴⁹तब ईसू ओनसे कहेस, “तू मोका काहे हेरत हेरत रह्या? का तू नाहीं जनत्या कि मोका मोरे बाप क घरे मँ होइ चाही?”

⁴⁹He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

⁵⁰मुला ईसू ओनका जउन जबाव दिहस, उ पचे ओकरे बचन क न समुझ सकेन।

⁵⁰They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.

⁵¹फिन उ ओनके संग नासरत लौटि आवा अउर ओनकइ हुकुम क मानत रहा। ओकर महतारी इ सब बतियन क आपन मने मँ राखत जात रही।

⁵¹And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

⁵²ओह कइँती ईसू बुद्धि मँ, डील डौल मँ अउर परमेस्सर अउर मनइयन क पिरेम मँ बाढ़इ लाग।

⁵²And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
