1 Thessalonians

5

1Demboréz eta momentéz den becembatean, anayeác, ezta mengoaric scriba dieçaçuedan.
1And concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you,
2Ecen ceuroc badaquiçue vngui ecen Iaunaren eguna ethorriren dela, ohoina gauaz beçala.
2for yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night doth so come,
3Ecen erran deçatenean, Baque eta segurança: orduan gainera ethorriren çaye vstegaberico destructionea, içorra denari mina beçala, eta eztirade itzuriren.
3for when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction doth stand by them, as the travail [doth] her who is with child, and they shall not escape;
4Baina çuec, anayeác, etzarete ilhumbean, non egun harc, ohoinac eguiten duen beçala, ardiets çaitzaten.
4and ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may catch you as a thief;
5Çuec gucioc arguiaren haour çarete, eta egunaren haour: ezgara gauaren edo ilhumbearen haour.
5all ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,
6Ezgaunçala bada lo berceac beçala, baina gauden iratzarri eta garén sobre.
6so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,
7Ecen lo daunçanac, gauaz lo daunça: eta horditzen diradenac, gauaz dirade hordi.
7for those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken,
8Baina gu egunaren garenoc, garén sobre, fedezco eta charitatezco halacretaz veztituac, eta casquet orde, saluamendutaco sperançáz.
8and we, being of the day — let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet — a hope of salvation,
9Ecen ezgaitu ordenatu Iaincoac hiracotzát, baina saluamenduaren vkaitecotzát Iesus Christ gure Iaunaz,
9because God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10Cein guregatic hil içan baita: bagaude iratzarriric, ala bagaunça lo, harequin batean vici garén.
10who did die for us, that whether we wake — whether we sleep — together with him we may live;
11Harren, exhorta eçaçue elkar, eta edifica eçaçue batac bercea, eguiten-ere duçuen beçala.
11wherefore, comfort ye one another, and build ye up, one the one, as also ye do.
12Halaber othoizten çaituztegu, anayeác, eçagut ditzaçuen çuen artean trabaillatzen diradenac, eta çuen gaineco diradenac gure Iaunean, eta çuen admonestaçaleac:
12And we ask you, brethren, to know those labouring among you, and leading you in the Lord, and admonishing you,
13Eta amorio handitan eduqui ditzaçuen, eguiten dutén obragatic. Auçue baque elkarren artean.
13and to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;
14Halaber othoitz eguiten drauçuegu, anayeác, admonesta ditzaçuen vicitze desordenatutacoac, consola ditzaçuen gogo chipitacoac, sustenga ditzaçuen flaccuac, çareten spirituz patient gucietara.
14and we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;
15Beguirauçue nehorc eztieçón gaitza gaitzagatic nehori renda: baina vnguiari bethi çarreitzate, bata berceagana eta gucietara.
15see no one evil for evil may render to any one, but always that which is good pursue ye, both to one another and to all;
16Bethiere çareten aleguera.
16always rejoice ye;
17Paussu gabe othoitz eguiçue.
17continually pray ye;
18Gauça gucietan esquerrac emainzquiçue: ecen haur da Iaincoaren çuetaraco vorondatea Iesus Christez.
18in every thing give thanks, for this [is] the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.
19Spiritua ezteçaçuela iraungui:
19The Spirit quench not;
20Prophetiác eztiçaçuela menosprecia.
20prophesyings despise not;
21Gauça guciac experimentaitzaçue: on denari çatchetzate:
21all things prove; that which is good hold fast;
22Gaizquiaren irudi orotaric beguira çaitezte.
22from all appearance of evil abstain ye;
23Bada Iainco baquezcoac ossoqui sanctifica çaitzatela: eta çuen spiritu gucia eta arima eta gorputza hoguen gabe, Iesus Christ gure Iaunaren aduenimenduco beguira ditecela.
23and the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;
24Fidel da çuec deithu çaituztena, eguinen-ere badu.
24stedfast is He who is calling you, who also will do [it].
25Anayeác, othoitz eguiçue guregatic.
25Brethren, pray for us;
26Salutaitzaçue anaye guciac pot saindurequin.
26salute all the brethren in an holy kiss;
27Requeritzen çaituztet Iaunaren partez iracur daquién epistola haur anaye saindu guciey.
27I charge you [by] the Lord, that the letter be read to all the holy brethren;
28Iesus Christ gure Iaunaren gratia dela çuequin. Amen.
28the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you! Amen.
