¹Ug miuyon si Saulo nga pagapatyon si Esteban ug niadtong adlawa nabuhat ang usa ka dakung paglutos sa iglesia nga didto sa Jerusalem; ug ang tanan nagkatibulaag sa mga yuta sa Judea ug sa Samaria, gawas ang mga apostoles.

¹And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

²Ug gilubong si Esteban sa mga tawo nga maampoon, ug nanagminatay sila, ug daku tungod kaniya.

²And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

³Apan gigubot ni Saulo ang iglesia, nagapanakasaka siya sa kabalayan; ug gipangguyod ang mga lalake ug mga babaye, nga gipanulod niya sa bilanggoan.

³As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

⁴Busa kadtong mga nagkatibulaag, nagpanglangyaw nga nagapangwali sa pulong.

⁴Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

⁵Ug si Felipe milugsong ngadto sa lungsod sa Samaria, ug giwali niya si Cristo.

⁵Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

⁶Ug ang mga tawo nanaghiusa sa pagpatalinghug gayud sa mga butang nga giingon ni Felipe, sa hingdunggan ug hingkit-an nila ang mga ilhanan nga iyang gibuhat.

⁶And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

⁷Kay gikan sa daghan nga may mga espiritu nga mahugaw, nanggula kini kanila nga nagatu-aw sa makusog nga tingog; ug daghang mga bakol, ug mga piang gipanag-ayo niya.

⁷For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

⁸Ug may dakung kalipay niadtong lungsora.

⁸And there was great joy in that city.

⁹Ug dihay usa ka tawo, nga ginganlan si Simon, nga kanhi nagsalamangka didto niadtong lungsora, ug kini nakapahibulong gayud sa katawohan sa Samaria, sa pag-ingon nga siya usa ka dakung tawo.

⁹But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

¹⁰Ang tanan nagpatalinghug gayud kaniya sukad sa mga gagmay hangtud sa mga dagku, nga nanag-ingon: Kining tawohana mao man ang gahum sa Dios, nga ginanganlan Daku.

¹⁰To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

¹¹Ug sila nagpatalinghug kaniya, kay gilamat gayud sila niya sa iyang mga malimbungon nga katingalahan sa hataas nga panahon.

¹¹And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

¹²Apan sa mitoo sila kang Felipe, nga nagamantala sa Maayong Balita mahatungod sa gingharian sa Dios, ug sa ngalan ni Jesucristo, nanagpabautismo ang mga lalake ug mga babaye.

¹²But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

¹³Ug bisan si Simon usab mitoo ug sa nabautismohan na, nagpadayon uban kang Felipe; ug natingala siya sa pagkakita niya sa mga ilhanan ug dagku nga mga katingalahan nga ginabuhat.

¹³Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

¹⁴Ug ang mga apostoles sa Jerusalem, sa pagkadungog nila, nga midawat ang Samaria sa pulong sa Dios, gipaadto nila si Pedro ug si Juan;

¹⁴Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

¹⁵Nga, sa pagtugbong nila, nag-ampo alang kanila, aron madawat nila ang Espiritu Santo.

¹⁵Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

¹⁶Kay kini wala pa makakunsad sa bisan kang kinsa kanila, kondili nga napabautismo lamang sila sa ngalan sa Ginoong Jesus.

¹⁶(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

¹⁷Unya ilang gipandungan sila sa mga kamot, ug nakadawat sila sa Espiritu Santo.

¹⁷Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

¹⁸Ug sa pagkakita ni Simon, nga tungod sa pagpandung sa mga kamot sa mga apostoles gihatag ang Espiritu Santo, siya mitanyag kanila ug salapi.

¹⁸And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

¹⁹Nga nagaingon: Hatagi usab ako ninyo niining gahum, aron ang tanang pandungan ko sa mga kamot makadawat sa Espiritu Santo.

¹⁹Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

²⁰Apan si Pedro miingon kaniya: Ang imong salapi mawala uban kanimo, kay nagdahum ka, nga arang mo mapalit sa salapi ang hiyas sa Dios.

²⁰But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

²¹Ikaw walay bahin, ni kapalaran niini nga butang; kay ang imong kasingkasing dili matarung sa atubangan sa Dios.

²¹Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

²²Busa hinulsulan mo kining imong pagkadautan, ug mangaliyopo ka sa Dios, basin na lamang nga pagapasayloon ang hunahuna sa imong kasingkasing.

²²Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

²³Kay ginatan-aw ko nga anaa ka sa apdo sa kapaitan, ug sa talikala sa kadautan.

²³For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

²⁴Ug mitubag si Simon ug nag-ingon: Pag-ampo kamo sa Ginoo, alang kanako, aron dili modangat kanako bisan unsa nianang mga butanga nga gisulti ninyo.

²⁴Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

²⁵Ug sa nakapamatuod sila, ug nakamantala sa pulong sa Ginoo namalik sila sa Jerusalem, ug giwali nila ang Maayong Balita sa daghang mga gagmayng lungsod sa mga Samariahanon.

²⁵And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

²⁶Apan ang usa ka manolonda sa Ginoo nagsulti kang Felipe, nga nagaingon: Tumindog ka, ug umadto ka paingon sa habagatan, sa dalan nga lugsongon gikan sa Jerusalem padulong sa Gasa, nga kamingawan.

²⁶And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

²⁷Ug mitindog siya, ug miadto: ug ania karon, usa ka Etiopiahanon, eunoco nga gamhanan ilalum ni Candace, ang reina sa mga Etiopiahanon kansang mga bahandi siya ang tinugyanan sa tanan, nga miadto sa Jerusalem sa pagsimba.

²⁷And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

²⁸Sa nagapauli na siya nga nagalingkod sa iyang calesa, nagabasa sa basahon ni Isaias nga manalagna.

²⁸Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

²⁹Ug ang Espiritu miingon kang Felipe: Dumuol ka ug kumuyog ka niana nga calesa.

²⁹Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

³⁰Ug si Felipe midalagan ngadto kaniya, ug hingdunggan kini nga nagabasa kang Isaias nga manalagna ug miingon: Nakasabut ka ba sa imong ginabasa?

³⁰And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

³¹Ug nag-ingon siya: Unsaon ko paghimo kong walay usa nga magtudlo kanako? Ug gihangyo niya si Felipe, aron mosakay ug molingkod sa luyo niya.

³¹And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

³²Ug ang bahin sa Sulat nga gibasa niya, mao kini: Sama sa carnero siya gihatud ngadto sa patyanan; ug sama sa nating carnero nga mama sa atubangan sa mag-aalot, ingon niini siya wala magbuka sa iyang baba.

³²The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

³³Sa iyang pagpaubos, gikuhaan siya sa iyang paghukom ug kinsa ba ang magaasoy sa iyang kaliwatan? Kay ang iyang kinabuhi gikuha gikan sa yuta.

³³In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

³⁴Ug mitubag ang eunoco kang Felipe, ug nag-ingon: Nagapakilooy ako kanimo, kinsay gipahanungdan niini sa manalagna, ang iya bang kaugalingon, kun ang uban bang tawo?

³⁴And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

³⁵Ug gibuka ni Felipe ang iyang baba, ug sa gisugdan niya sukad niini nga Sulat, iyang gimantala kaniya ang Maayong Balita ni Jesus.

³⁵Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

³⁶Ug sa nagapadayon sila sa ilang panaw, ming-abut sila sa usa ka tubig; ug miingon ang eunoco: Ania karon, adunay tubig, unsay kaulangan nga dili ako mabautismohan?

³⁶And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

³⁷Ug miingon si Felipe: Mahimo, kong mitoo ka sa bug-os mong kasingkasing. Ug siya mitubag ug miingon: Mitoo ako nga si Jesucristo mao ang Anak sa Dios.

³⁷And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

³⁸Ug gipahunong niya ang calesa ug nanganaug silang duha sa tubig, si Felipe ug ang eunoco ug kini gibautismohan niya.

³⁸And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

³⁹Ug sa nakahaw-as sila sa tubig, si Felipe gikuha sa Espiritu sa Ginoo; ug wala na siya hikit-i sa eunoco, ug nagpadayon siya sa iyang dalan nga malipayon.

³⁹And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

⁴⁰Apan si Felipe nakita didto sa Azoto, ug nagmantala sa Maayong Balita sa tanang kalungsoran, nga iyang ginaagian hangtud nga nakadangat siya sa Cesarea.

⁴⁰But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
