¹Ug si David miingon diha sa iyang kasingkasing: Ako karon mahanaw sa usa lamang ka adlaw pinaagi sa kamot ni Saul: kay wala nay maayo pa alang kanako kay sa mokalagiw ako ngadto sa yuta sa mga Filistehanon; ug si Saul mawad-an ra sa paglaum, sa pagpangita pa kanako sa tanang mga utlanan sa Israel: mao nga ako mogawas gikan sa iyang kamot.

¹And David saith unto his heart, `Now am I consumed one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing for me better than that I diligently escape unto the land of the Philistines, and Saul hath been despairing of me — of seeking me any more in all the border of Israel, and I have escaped out of his hand.`

²Ug si David mitindog ug mipadayon, siya ug ang unom ka gatus ka tawo nga diha uban kaniya, ngadto kang Achis ang anak nga lalake ni Maoch, ang hari sa Gath.

²And David riseth, and passeth over, he and six hundred men who [are] with him, unto Achish son of Maoch king of Gath;

³Ug si David miipon kang Achis didto sa Gath, siya ug ang iyang mga tawo, ang tagsatagsa ka tawo uban ang iyang sulod-balay, bisan si David uban sa iyang duruha ka asawa, si Ahinoam ang taga-Jezreel, ug si Abigail ang taga-Carmelo, ang asawa ni Nabal.

³and David dwelleth with Achish in Gath, he and his men, each one with his household, [even] David and his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelitess.

⁴Ug gisugilon kang Saul nga si David mikalagiw ngadto sa Gath: ug siya wala na mangita kaniya pag-usab.

⁴And it is declared to Saul that David hath fled to Gath, and he hath not added any more to seek him.

⁵Ug si David miingon kang Achis: Kong karon ako nakakaplag ug kahamut-an sa imong mga mata, pahatagi ako kanila ug usa ka dapit sa usa sa mga ciudad sa kapatagan, aron ako makapuyo didto: kay ngano ba nga ang imong sulogoon magapuyo sa harianong ciudad uban kanimo?

⁵And David saith unto Achish, `If, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, they give to me a place in one of the cities of the field, and I dwell there, yea, why doth thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?`

⁶Unya si Achis mihatag sa Siclag kaniya niadtong adlawa: maoy hinungdan nga ang Siclag nahimong bahin sa mga hari sa Juda hangtud niining adlawa.

⁶And Achish giveth to him in that day Ziklag, therefore hath Ziklag been to the kings of Judah till this day.

⁷Ug ang gidaghanon sa mga adlaw nga si David nagpuyo niadtong kapatagan sa mga Filistehanon may usa ka tuig ug upat ka bulan.

⁷And the number of the days which David hath dwelt in the field of the Philistines [is] days and four months;

⁸Ug si David ug ang iyang mga tawo nanungas, ug gisulong nila ang mga Gesurehanon, ug ang mga Gerzehanon, ug ang mga Amalecahanon; kay kadtong maong mga nasud maoy mga molupyo sa yuta, maoy mga karaan, kong ikaw moadto ngadto sa Shur, bisan ngadto sa yuta sa Egipto.

⁸and David goeth up and his men, and they push unto the Geshurite, and the Gerizite, and the Amalekite, (for they are inhabitants of the land from of old), as thou comest in to Shur and unto the land of Egypt,

⁹Ug si David midasmag sa yuta, ug walay gibilin mga lalake kun babaye nga buhi, ug gidala ang mga carnero, ug mga vaca, ug mga asno, ug mga camello, ug ang mga bisti; ug siya mibalik, ug miadto kang Achis.

⁹and David hath smitten the land, and doth not keep alive man and woman, and hath taken sheep, and oxen, and asses, and camels, and garments, and turneth back, and cometh in unto Achish.

¹⁰Ug si Achis miingon: Batok kang kinsa gihimo mo ang usa ka pagsulong niining adlawa? Ug si David miingon: Batok sa Habagatan sa Juda, ug batok sa Habagatan sa mga taga-Jerameel, ug batok sa Habagatan sa mga Cinehanon.

¹⁰And Achish saith, `Whither have ye pushed to-day?` and David saith, `Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelite, and unto the south of the Kenite.`

¹¹Ug si David walay gibilin bisan lalake ni babaye nga buhi, sa pagdala kanila ngadto sa Gath, nga nagaingon: Tingali maoy ilang isugilon kanato, nga magaingon: Mao kana ang gibuhat ni David, ug maoy iyang batasan sa tanang panahon nga siya nagpuyo sa yuta sa mga Filistehanon.

¹¹Neither man nor woman doth David keep alive, to bring in [word] to Gath, saying, `Lest they declare [it] against us, saying, Thus hath David done, and thus [is] his custom all the days that he hath dwelt in the fields of the Philistines.`

¹²Ug si Achis mitoo kang David, nga nagaingon: Siya naghimo sa iyang katawohan nga Israel sa pagdumot gayud kaniya; busa siya mahimo nga akong ulipon sa walay katapusan.

¹²And Achish believeth in David, saying, `He hath made himself utterly abhorred among his people, in Israel, and hath been to me for a servant age-during.`
