¹Ug ang mga tawo sa Chiriath-jearim nangadto, ug gikuha ang arca ni Jehova, ug gidala kini ngadto sa balay ni Abinadab nga didto sa bungtod, ug gibalaan si Eleazar nga iyang anak nga lalake aron sa pagbantay sa arca ni Jehova.

¹And the men of Kirjath-Jearim come and bring up the ark of Jehovah, and bring it in unto the house of Abinadab, in the height, and Eleazar his son they have sanctified to keep the ark of Jehovah.

²Ug nahitabo, sukad sa adlaw nga ang arca diha sa Chiriath-jearim, nga ang panahon hataas; kay kaluhaan ka tuig: ug ang tibook nga balay sa Israel nanagbakho sunod kang Jehova.

²And it cometh to pass, from the day of the dwelling of the ark in Kirjath-Jearim, that the days are multiplied — yea, they are twenty years — and wail do all the house of Israel after Jehovah.

³Ug si Samuel namulong sa tibook nga balay sa Israel, nga nagaingon: Kong kamo managpamalik kang Jehova sa bug-os ninyong kasingkasing, nan isalikway ang inyong mga laing dios ug ang Astaroth gikan sa taliwala ninyo, ug ipatumong ang inyong kasingkasing ngadto kang Jehova, ug mag-alagad kaniya lamang: ug siya magaluwas ka ninyo gikan sa kamot sa mga Filistehanon.

³And Samuel speaketh unto all the house of Israel, saying, `If with all your heart ye are turning back unto Jehovah — turn aside the gods of the stranger from your midst, and Ashtaroth; and prepare your heart unto Jehovah, and serve Him only, and He doth deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.`

⁴Unya ang mga anak sa Israel nanagsalikway sa mga Baal ug sa Astaroth, ug nanag-alagad kang Jehova lamang.

⁴And the sons of Israel turn aside the Baalim and Ashtaroth, and serve Jehovah alone;

⁵Ug si Samuel miingon: Tiguma ang tibook Israel didto sa Mizpa, ug ako magaampo alang kaninyo ngadto kang Jehova.

⁵and Samuel saith, `Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I pray for you unto Jehovah.`

⁶Ug sila nanagtigum pagtingub didto sa Mizpa, ug nanagkalus sa tubig, ug gibubo kini sa atubangan ni Jehova, ug nanagpuasa niadtong adlawa, ug namulong didto: Kami nakasala batok kang Jehova. Ug si Samuel nagmaghuhukom sa mga anak sa Israel didto sa Mizpa.

⁶And they are gathered to Mizpeh, and draw water, and pour out before Jehovah, and fast on that day, and say there, `We have sinned against Jehovah;` and Samuel judgeth the sons of Israel in Mizpeh.

⁷Ug sa diha nga ang mga Filistehanon nakadungog nga ang mga anak sa Israel nanagtigum pagtingub didto sa Mizpa, ang mga kadagkuan sa mga Filistehanon nanungas batok sa Israel. Ug sa diha nga ang mga anak sa Israel nakadungog niini, sila nangahadlok sa mga Filistehanon.

⁷And the Philistines hear that the sons of Israel have gathered themselves to Mizpeh; and the princes of the Philistines go up against Israel, and the sons of Israel hear, and are afraid of the presence of the Philistines.

⁸Ug ang mga anak sa Israel ming-ingon kang Samuel: Ayaw paghunong sa pagtu-aw ngadto kang Jehova, nga atong Dios alang kanamo, aron siya magaluwas kanamo gikan sa kamot sa mga Filistehanon.

⁸And the sons of Israel say unto Samuel, `Keep not silent for us from crying unto Jehovah our God, and He doth save us out of the hand of the Philistines.`

⁹Ug si Samuel mikuha ug usa ka nagsuso pang nati sa carnero ug gihalad kana alang sa usa ka tibook nga halad-nga-sinunog kang Jehova: ug si Samuel mingtu-aw kang Jehova alang sa Israel; ug si Jehova mitubag kaniya.

⁹And Samuel taketh a fat lamb, and causeth it to go up — a burnt-offering whole to Jehovah; and Samuel crieth unto Jehovah for Israel, and Jehovah answereth him;

¹⁰Ug sa diha nga si Samuel naghalad pa sa halad-nga-sinunog, ang mga Filistehanon nagpahaduol sa pagpakig-away batok sa Israel; apan si Jehova nagpadalogdog sa dakung dalogdog sa ibabaw sa mga Filistehanon niadtong adlawa, ug gidaug sila; ug nangamatay sila sa atubangan sa Israel.

¹⁰and Samuel is causing the burnt-offering to go up — and the Philistines have drawn nigh to battle against Israel — and Jehovah doth thunder with a great noise, on that day, upon the Philistines, and troubleth them, and they are smitten before Israel.

¹¹Ug ang mga tawo sa Israel nanggula gikan sa Mizpa, ug minglutos sa Filistehanon, ug nagpatay kanila hangtud sa paghiabut nila sa ilalum sa Beth-car.

¹¹And the men of Israel go out from Mizpeh, and pursue the Philistines, and smite them unto the place of Beth-Car.

¹²Unya si Samuel mikuha ug usa ka bato, ug nagpahamutang niini taliwala sa Mizpa ug sa Sen, ug nagtawag sa ngalan niana nga Eben-ezer, nga nagaingon: Kutob dinhi si Jehova nagtabang kanato.

¹²And Samuel taketh a stone, and setteth [it] between Mizpeh and Shen, and calleth its name Eben-Ezer, saying, `Hitherto hath Jehovah helped us.`

¹³Busa ang mga Filistehanon gidaug, ug wala na sila umanha sulod sa utlanan sa Israel: ug ang kamot ni Jehova batok sa mga Filistehanon sa tanang mga adlaw ni Samuel.

¹³And the Philistines are humbled, and have not added any more to come into the border of Israel, and the hand of Jehovah is on the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

¹⁴Ug ang mga ciudad nga naagaw sa mga Filistehanon gikan kang Israel, nahiuli sa Israel, sukad sa Ecron ngadto sa Gath; ug ang utlanan niini gibawi sa Israel gikan sa kamot sa mga Filistehanon. Ug may pakigdait sa taliwala sa Israel ug sa mga Amorehanon.

¹⁴And the cities which the Philistines have taken from Israel are restored to Israel — from Ekron even unto Gath — and their border hath Israel delivered out of the hand of the Philistines; and there is peace between Israel and the Amorite.

¹⁵Ug si Samuel nagmaghuhukom sa Israel sa tibook nga mga adlaw sa iyang kinabuhi.

¹⁵And Samuel judgeth Israel all the days of his life,

¹⁶Ug siya magadtoan matag-tuig sa paglibut ngadto sa Beth-el, ug Gilgal, ug Mizpa; ug siya nagmaghuhukom sa Israel didto niadtong tanang mga dapit.

¹⁶and he hath gone from year to year, and gone round Beth-El, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel [in] all these places;

¹⁷Ug ang iyang pagpauli ngadto sa Rama, kay didto ang iyang balay; ug didto nagmaghuhukom siya sa Israel: ug nagtukod siya didto ug usa ka halaran kang Jehova.

¹⁷and his returning [is] to Ramath, for there [is] his house, and there he hath judged Israel, and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah.
