¹Ug nahitabo sa human ang kamatayon ni Josue, nga ang mga anak sa Israel nangutana kang Jehova, nga nagaingon: Kinsa man ang motungas alang kanamo sa pag-una batok sa mga Canaanhon, sa pagpakig-away batok kanila?

¹And it cometh to pass, after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel ask at Jehovah, saying, `Who doth go up for us unto the Canaanite, at the commencement, to fight against it?`

²Ug si Jehova miingon: Si Juda ang motungas: ania karon, gitugyan ko ang yuta sa iyang kamot.

²And Jehovah saith, `Judah doth go up; lo, I have given the land into his hand.`

³Ug si Juda miingon kang Simeon nga iyang igsoon: Umuban ka kanako sa akong bahin, aron makig-away kita, batok sa mga Canaanhon; ug sa mao usab ako mouban kanimo sa imong bahin. Busa si Simeon miuban kaniya.

³And Judah saith to Simeon his brother, `Go up with me into my lot, and we fight against the Canaanite — and I have gone, even I, with thee into thy lot;` and Simeon goeth with him.

⁴Busa si Juda miadto; ug si Jehova nagtugyan sa mga Canaanhon ug sa mga Peresehanon ngadto sa ilang kamot: ug sila nagpatay kanila didto sa Bezec sa napulo ka libo ka tawo.

⁴And Judah goeth up, and Jehovah giveth the Canaanite and the Perizzite into their hand, and they smite them in Bezek — ten thousand men;

⁵Ug didto hipalgan nila si Adoni-bezec sa Bezec, ug sila nakig-away batok kaniya, ug ilang gidasmagan ang mga Canaanhon ug ang mga Peresehanon.

⁵and they find Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fight against him, and smite the Canaanite and the Perizzite.

⁶Apan si Adoni-bezec mikalagiw; ug siya giapas nila, ug gidakup siya, ug giputol ang iyang kumalagko sa kamot ug ang mga kumalagko sa tiil.

⁶And Adoni-Bezek fleeth, and they pursue after him, and seize him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes,

⁷Ug si Adoni-bezec miingon: Kapitoan ka hari ang gipamutlan sa ilang mga kumalagko sa kamot ug sa tiil, nanagpanguha sa ilang makaon sa ilalum sa akong lamesa. Sumala sa akong nabuhat, mao usab ang gibalus sa Dios kanako. Ug siya gidala nila sa Jerusalem, ug siya namatay didto.

⁷and Adoni-Bezek saith, `Seventy kings — their thumbs and their great toes cut off — have been gathering under my table; as I have done so hath God repaid to me;` and they bring him in to Jerusalem, and he dieth there.

⁸Ug ang mga anak ni Juda nakig-away batok sa Jerusalem, ug naagaw kini, ug gitigbas kini sa sulab sa pinuti ug gisunog ang ciudad.

⁸And the sons of Judah fight against Jerusalem, and capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and the city they have sent into fire;

⁹Ug unya minglugsong ang mga anak ni Juda aron sa pagpakig-away batok sa Canaanhon nga nanagpuyo sa kabungtoran, ug sa habagatan, ug sa kapatagan.

⁹and afterwards have the sons of Judah gone down to fight against the Canaanite, inhabiting the hill-country, and the south, and the low country;

¹⁰Ug si Juda miadto batok sa mga Canaanhon nga nanagpuyo sa Hebron (karon ang ngalan sa Hebron sa unang panahon mao ang Chiriat-arba); ug ilang gidasmagan si Sesai, ug si Ahiman, ug si Talmai.

¹⁰and Judah goeth unto the Canaanite who is dwelling in Hebron (and the name of Hebron formerly [is] Kirjath-Arba), and they smite Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

¹¹Ug gikan didto miadto siya batok sa mga pumoluyo sa Debir. (Ang ngalan sa Debir sa unang panahon mao ang Chiriat-sepher).

¹¹And he goeth thence unto the inhabitants of Debir (and the name of Debir formerly [is] Kirjath-Sepher),

¹²Ug si Caleb miingon: Ang modasmag sa Chiriath-sepher ug makakuha niana, kaniya ihatag ko si Axa nga akong anak nga babaye aron ipaasawa.

¹²and Caleb saith, `He who smiteth Kirjath-Sepher — and hath captured it — then I have given to him Achsah my daughter for a wife.`

¹³Ug si Othoniel, ang anak nga lalake ni Cenez, ang manghud ni Caleb, mikuha niana; ug gihatag niya kaniya si Axa iyang anak nga babaye aron ipaasawa.

¹³And Othniel son of Kenaz, younger brother of Caleb, doth capture it, and he giveth to him Achsah his daughter for a wife.

¹⁴Ug nahitabo nga sa diha nga siya miadto na kaniya, nga siya nagaaghat kaniya sa pagpangayo sa iyang amahan ug usa ka uma: ug nanaug siya sa iyang asno; ug si Caleb miingon kaniya: Unsay tuyo mo?

¹⁴And it cometh to pass in her coming in, that she persuadeth him to ask from her father the field, and she lighteth from off the ass, and Caleb saith to her, `What — to thee?`

¹⁵Ug siya miingon kaniya: Hatagi ako ug usa ka panalangin; kay ikaw nagpahamutang kanako sa yuta sa habagatan, hatagi usab ako ug mga tuburan sa tubig. Ug si Caleb naghatag kaniya sa mga tuburan sa dapit sa ibabaw ug sa mga tuburan sa dapit sa ubos.

¹⁵And she saith to him, `Give to me a blessing; when the south land thou hast given me — then thou hast given to me springs of water; and Caleb giveth to her the upper springs and the lower springs.

¹⁶Ug ang mga anak sa Cinehanon, ang bayaw nga lalake ni Moises, minggula gikan sa ciudad sa mga palma uban sa mga anak ni Juda, ngadto sa kamingawan sa Juda nga atua sa habagatan sa Arad; ug sila nangadto nga nanagpuyo ipon sa katawohan.

¹⁶And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, have gone up out of the city of palms with the sons of Judah [to] the wilderness of Judah, which [is] in the south of Arad, and they go and dwell with the people.

¹⁷Ug si Juda miadto uban ni Simeon, nga iyang igsoon nga lalake ug ilang gidasmagan ang mga Canaanhon nga nanagpuyo sa Sephath, ug kini gilaglag gayud nila. Ug ang ngalan sa ciudad gitawag nga Horma.

¹⁷And Judah goeth with Simeon his brother, and they smite the Canaanite inhabiting Zephath, and devote it; and [one] calleth the name of the city Hormah.

¹⁸Ingon usab gikuha ni Juda ang Gaza lakip ang utlanan niini, ug ang Ascalon lakip ang utlanan niini, ug ang Ecron lakip ang utlanan niini.

¹⁸And Judah captureth Gaza and its border, and Askelon and its border, and Ekron and its border;

¹⁹Ug si Jehova nag-uban kang Juda, ug gipapahawa niya ngadto sa gawas ang mga nanagpuyo sa kabungtoran; kay siya wala makapapahawa sa mga nanagpuyo sa walog, kay sila may mga carro nga puthaw.

¹⁹and Jehovah is with Judah, and he occupieth the hill-country, but not to dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, for they have chariots of iron.

²⁰Ug gihatag nila ang Hebron kang Caleb, sumala sa gipamulong ni Moises: ug gipapahawa niya gikan didto ang totolo ka mga anak nga lalake ni Anac.

²⁰And they give to Caleb Hebron, as Moses hath spoken, and he dispossesseth thence the three sons of Anak.

²¹Ug ang mga anak ni Benjamin wala magpapahawa sa mga Jebusehanon nga nanagpuyo sa Jerusalem: apan ang mga Jebusehanon nanagpuyo ipon sa mga anak ni Benjamin didto sa Jerusalem hangtud niining adlawa.

²¹And the Jebusite, inhabiting Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin have not dispossessed; and the Jebusite dwelleth with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, till this day.

²²Ug ang balay ni Jose, sila usab ming-adto batok sa Beth-el: ug si Jehova nag-uban kanila.

²²And the house of Joseph go up — even they — to Beth-El, and Jehovah [is] with them;

²³Ug ang balay ni Jose nagsugo sa pagpaniid sa Beth-el. (Karon ang ngalan sa ciudad sa unang panahon mao ang Luz).

²³and the house of Joseph cause [men] to spy about Beth-El (and the name of the city formerly is Luz),

²⁴Ug ang mga magbalantay nakakita sa usa ka tawo nga migula sa ciudad, ug sila nag-ingon kaniya: Tudloi kami, nagahangyo kami kanimo, sa agianan sa pagsulod ngadto sa ciudad ug magakalooy kami kanimo.

²⁴and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, `Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance of the city, and we have done with thee kindness.`

²⁵Ug iyang gitudloan sila sa agianan sa pagsulod sa ciudad, ug ilang gidasmagan ang ciudad sa sulab sa pinuti; apan ilang gipagawas ang tawo lakip ang tanan niyang panimalay.

²⁵And he sheweth them the entrance of the city, and they smite the city by the mouth of the sword, and the man and all his family they have sent away;

²⁶Ug ang tawo miadto sa yuta sa mga Hetehanon, ug nagtukod ug usa ka ciudad, ug gitawag ang ngalan niini nga Luz nga maoy ngalan niana hangtud niining adlawa.

²⁶and the man goeth to the land of the Hittites, and buildeth a city, and calleth its name Luz — it [is] its name unto this day.

²⁷Ug si Manases wala magpapahawa sa mga nanagpuyo sa Beth-sean ug sa mga balangay niini, ni sa mga nanagpuyo sa Taanac ug sa mga balangay niini, ni sa mga nanagpuyo sa Ibleam ug sa mga balangay niini, ni sa mga nanagpuyo sa Megiddo ug sa mga balangay niini, apan ang mga Canaanhon mingpuyo niadtong yutaa.

²⁷And Manasseh hath not occupied Beth-Shean and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Iblaim and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in that land;

²⁸Ug nahitabo sa diha nga ang Israel napun-an na sa kusog, nga ilang gibutang ang mga Canaanhon sa bulohaton sa pintakasi, ug wala gayud sila papahawaa.

²⁸and it cometh to pass, when Israel hath been strong, that he setteth the Canaanite to tribute, and hath not utterly dispossessed it.

²⁹Ug si Ephraim wala magpapahawa sa mga Canaanhon nga nanagpuyo sa Gezer; apan ang mga Canaanhon nagpuyo ipon kanila diha sa Gezer.

²⁹And Ephraim hath not dispossessed the Canaanite who is dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, in Gezer.

³⁰Si Zabulon wala magpapahawa sa mga nanagpuyo sa Chitron, ni sa mga nanagpuyo sa Naalol; apan ang mga Canaanhon nanagpuyo ipon kanila ug gibutang nila sa bulohaton sa pintakasi.

³⁰Zebulun hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Kitron, and the inhabitants of Nahalol, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, and they become tributary.

³¹Si Azer wala magpapahawa sa mga pumoluyo sa Acho, ni sa mga pumoluyo sa Sidon, ni sa Ahlab, ni sa Achzib, ni ang sa Helba, ni ang sa Aphec, ni ang sa Rehod;

³¹Asher hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Accho, and the inhabitants of Zidon, and Ahlab, and Achzib, and Helbah, and Aphik, and Rehob;

³²Apan ang mga Aserihanon nanagpuyo sa taliwala sa mga Canaanhon, ang mga molupyo sa yuta; kay wala nila sila papahawaa.

³²and the Asherite dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land, for it hath not dispossessed them.

³³Si Nephtali wala magpapahawa sa mga molupyo sa Beth-semes, ni sa pumoluyo sa Beth-anath; apan siya nagpuyo ipon sa mga Canaanhon, ang mga molupyo sa yuta: bisan pa ang mga molupyo s Beth-semes ug sa Beth-anath; gibutang nila sa bulohaton sa pintakasi.

³³Naphtali hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh, and the inhabitants of Beth-Anath, and he dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land; and the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh and of Beth-Anath have become tributary to them.

³⁴Ug ang mga Amorehanon nagpugos sa mga anak ni Dan ngadto sa dapit sa kabungtoran: kay wala sila magatugot kanila sa pag-adto sa walog:

³⁴And the Amorites press the sons of Dan to the mountain, for they have not suffered them to go down to the valley;

³⁵Apan ang mga Amorehanon buot magpuyo sa bukid sa Heres, sa Ajalon ug sa Salbim: apan ang kamot sa balay ni Jose midaug, busa sila gibutang sa bulohaton sa pintakasi.

³⁵and the Amorite is desirous to dwell in mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and the hand of the house of Joseph is heavy, and they become tributary;

³⁶Ug ang utlanan sa mga Amorehanon nagasugod sa tungasan sa Acrabim sukad sa bato ug ngadto sa itaas.

³⁶and the border of the Amorite [is] from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock and upward.
