¹Ug si Jesus nga puno sa Espiritu Santo, mipauli gikan sa Jordan; ug gidala sa Espiritu ngadto sa kamingawan,

¹And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, turned back from the Jordan, and was brought in the Spirit to the wilderness,

²Nga gitintal sa yawa sulod sa kap-atan ka adlaw. Ug siya wala mokaon bisan unsa niadtong mga adlawa, ug gilayon sa pagkatapus niini, gigutom siya.

²forty days being tempted by the Devil, and he did not eat anything in those days, and they having been ended, he afterward hungered,

³Ug miingon kaniya ang yawa: Kong ikaw mao ang Anak sa Dios sugoa kining bato nga mahimong tinapay.

³and the Devil said to him, `If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.`

⁴Ug mitubag kaniya si Jesus, nga nagaingon: Nahasulat na: Dili sa tinapay lamang mabuhi ang tawo, kondili sa tanang pulong sa Dios.

⁴And Jesus answered him, saying, `It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.`

⁵Ug siya gidala sa yawa sa usa ka hataas nga bukid, ug gipakitaan siya sa tanang mga gingharian sa kalibutan sa makadiyut lamang nga panahon.

⁵And the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,

⁶Ug miingon ang yawa kaniya: Kanimo igahatag ko ang pagbulot-an niining tanan, ug ang himaya nila: kay kini ginatugyan kanako; ug igahatag ko kini kang bisan kinsa nga akong buot pagahatagan.

⁶and the Devil said to him, `To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it;

⁷Busa kong ikaw magsimbasa akong atubangan, ma-imo ang tanan.

⁷thou, then, if thou mayest bow before me — all shall be thine.`

⁸Ug mitubag kaniya si Jesus ug nag-ingon: Pahawa ka sa akong atubangan, satanas; kay nahasulat na: Magsimba ka sa imong Ginoong Dios, ug kaniya lamang mag-alagad ikaw.

⁸And Jesus answering him said, `Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.`

⁹Ug gidala siya sa Jerusalem, ug gitungtung siya sa lantawanan sa templo ug giingon siya: Kong ikaw ang Anak sa Dios, umambak ka dinhi ngadto sa ubos;

⁹And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, `If the Son thou art of God, cast thyself down hence,

¹⁰Kay nahasulat na: Magsugo siya sa iyang mga manolonda mahitungod kanimo nga ikaw pagabantayan nila;

¹⁰for it hath been written — To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee,

¹¹Ug ikaw pagasapnayon nila sa ilang mga kamot, aron dili mahapangdol ang imong tiil sa bato.

¹¹and — On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.`

¹²Ug si Jesus mitubag ug nag-ingon kaniya: Giingon na: Dili mo pagpanulayon ang Ginoo nga imong Dios.

¹²And Jesus answering said to him — `It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.`

¹³Ug sa natapus ang tanang pagpanulay, ang yawa mibulag kaniya sulod sa usa ka panahon.

¹³And having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.

¹⁴Ug mibalik si Jesus sa gahum sa Espiritu ngadto sa Galilea; ug nasangyaw ang iyang kabantugan sa tibook kayutaan nga nagalibut.

¹⁴And Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him,

¹⁵Ug siya nanudlo sa ilang mga sinagoga, nga ginahimaya sa tanan.

¹⁵and he was teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

¹⁶Ug miadto siya sa Nazaret, diin siya magatubo; ug ingon sa iyang nabatasan misulod sa sinagoga, sa adlaw nga igpapahulay; ug mitindog sa pagbasa.

¹⁶And he came to Nazareth, where he hath been brought up, and he went in, according to his custom, on the sabbath-day, to the synagogue, and stood up to read;

¹⁷Ug gihatag kaniya ang basahon ni Isaias nga manalagna; ug, sa nabuklad niya ang basahon, hingkit-an niya ang bahin nga didto nahasulat:

¹⁷and there was given over to him a roll of Isaiah the prophet, and having unfolded the roll, he found the place where it hath been written:

¹⁸Ang Espiritu sa Ginoo ania kanako, tungod kay iya akong gidihog aron sa pagmantala sa Maayong Balita ngadto sa mga kabus; iya akong gisugo sa pag-ayo sa mga masulob-ong kasingkasing, sa pagwali sa kagawasan sa mga bihag, ug sa pagpahiuli sa igtatan-aw sa mga buta, sa paghatag kagawasan sa mga gipiutan,

¹⁸`The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,

¹⁹Sa pagmantala sa nahimut-ang tuig sa Ginoo.

¹⁹To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.`

²⁰Ug gilukot niya ang basahon, ug giuli niya kini sa sulogoon, ug milingkod siya; ug ang mga mata sa tanan nga didto sa sinagoga gitutok kaniya.

²⁰And having folded the roll, having given [it] back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him.

²¹Ug misugod siya sa pag-ingon kanila: Karong adlawa kining Kasulatan natuman sa inyong mga igdulungog.

²¹And he began to say unto them — `To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;`

²²Ug ang tanan naghatag kamatuoran kaniya, ug nanghitingala sa mga pulong sa gracia nga nanggula sa iyang baba, ug sila miingon: Dili ba mao kini ang anak ni Jose?

²²and all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, `Is not this the son of Joseph?`

²³Ug siya miingon kanila: Sa walay duhaduha moingon kamo kanako niining sambingay: Mananambal, tambali ang imong kaugalingon; bisan unsang butang nga among hingdunggan nga nahitabo sa Capernaum, buhata usab dinhi sa imong kaugalingong yuta.

²³And he said unto them, `Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;`

²⁴Ug siya miingon: Sa pagkamatuod nagaingon ako kaninyo, walay manalagna nga nahimut-an sa kaugalingon niyang yuta.

²⁴and he said, `Verily I say to you — No prophet is accepted in his own country;

²⁵Apan sa pagkatinuod nagaingon ako kaninyo nga may daghan nga mga babayeng balo sa Israel sa mga adlaw ni Elias, sa nasirhan ang langit sa tolo ka tuig ug unom ka bulan, sa pagkaagi nga miabut ang usa ka dakung gutom sa tibook yuta,

²⁵and of a truth I say to you, Many widows were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when great famine came on all the land,

²⁶Ug sa bisan kang kinsa kanila si Elias wala paadtoa gawas sa usa ka babayeng balo sa Sarepta sa Sidon.

²⁶and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but — to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow;

²⁷Ug daghan ang mga sanlahon sa Israel sa panahon ni Eliseo nga manalagna; apan walay bisan kinsa kanila nga gihinloan, kondili si Naaman nga Siriahanon.

²⁷and many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but — Naaman the Syrian.`

²⁸Ug ang tanan nga didto sa sinagoga, nangapuno sa kaligutgut sa pagpakadungog nila niining mga butanga.

²⁸And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, hearing these things,

²⁹Ug sila nanindog ug ilang gipapahawa siya ngadto sa gawas sa ciudad, ug gidala siya hangtud sa kinatumyan sa bukid diin nahimutang ang ilang lungsod, aron ila untang itukmod siya ngadto sa ubos.

²⁹and having risen, they put him forth without the city, and brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their city had been built — to cast him down headlong,

³⁰Apan siya sa miagi sa taliwala nila, milakaw;

³⁰and he, having gone through the midst of them, went away.

³¹Ug milugsong siya padulong sa Capernaum, ciudad sa Galilea, ug nagapanudlo siya kanila sa adlaw nga igpapahulay:

³¹And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbaths,

³²Ug nanghibulong sila sa iyang pagtulon-an, kay may pagbulot-an ang iyang pulong.

³²and they were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.

³³Ug sa sinagoga may usa ka tawo nga adunay usa ka espiritu sa yawa nga mahugaw; ug siya misinggit sa makusog nga tingog.

³³And in the synagogue was a man, having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a great voice,

³⁴Nga nagaingon: Oy, unsay labut namo kanimo, Jesus nga Nazaretnon? Mianhi ba ikaw aron sa paglaglag kanamo? Hingbaloan ko kong kinsa ikaw, ang Balaan sa Dios,

³⁴saying, `Away, what — to us and to thee, Jesus, O Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art — the Holy One of God.`

³⁵Ug gibadlong siya ni Jesus, sa pag-ingon: Humilum ka, ug gumola kaniya. Ug sa tapus siya ilamba sa yawa sa taliwala, kini minggula kaniya sa walay kadautan nga nahimo kaniya.

³⁵And Jesus did rebuke him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him;` and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought;

³⁶Ug ang katingala miabut kanilang tanan, ug nagsinultihay ang usa ug usa kanila nga nagaingon: Unsa kining pulonga? kay sa may pagbulot-an ug gahum nagasugo siya sa mga espiritu nga mahugaw, ug sila nanggula.

³⁶and amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, `What [is] this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?`

³⁷Ug nasangyaw ang iyang kabantug sa tanang dapit sa tibook nga yuta nga nagalibut.

³⁷and there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about.

³⁸Ug mitindog siya gikan sa sinagoga, ug misulod sa balay ni Simon. Ug ang ugangang babaye ni Simon gitakboyan sa dakung hilanat; ug sila minghangyo kang Jesus tungod kaniya.

³⁸And having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her,

³⁹Ug mitindog siya nga nagdung-aw sa babaye ug gihinginlan niya ang hilanat, ug gihuwasan siya; ug gilayon mibangon siya ug mialagad kanila.

³⁹and having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them.

⁴⁰Ug sa nagakasalop na ang adlaw, ang tanan, sumala sa adunay mga masakiton sa nagakalainlaing sakit, nanagdala kanila ngadto kaniya, ug sa gitapion ang iyang mga kamot sa tagsatagsa kanila, nangaayo sila,

⁴⁰And at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them [his] hands having put, did heal them.

⁴¹Ug ang mga yawa usab minggula gikan sa daghang mga tawo, nga nanagsinggit ug nanag-ingon: Ikaw mao ang Anak sa Dios. Ug sa nagabadlong kanila wala niya pasultiha sila, tungod kay nakaila sila nga siya mao ang Cristo.

⁴¹And demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying — `Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;` and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.

⁴²Ug sa pagkaadlaw na, minggula siya, ug miadto sa usa ka kamingawan, ug ang mga panon sa katawohan nanagpangita kaniya ug nangadto kaniya, ug naghawid kaniya aron dili unta siya mobulag kanila.

⁴²And day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him — not to go on from them,

⁴³Apan siya miingon kanila: Kinahanglan nga iwali ko ang maayong balita sa gingharian sa Dios ngadto sa ubang mga lungsod, kay tungod niini gipaanhi ako.

⁴³and he said unto them — `Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;`

⁴⁴Ug siya nagwali sa mga sinagoga sa Galilea.

⁴⁴and he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
