¹Unya si Jesus gihatud sa Espiritu sa kamingawan aron pagatintalon sa yawa.

¹Then Jesus was led up to the wilderness by the Spirit, to be tempted by the Devil,

²Ug sa nakapuasa siya sa kap-atan ka adlaw ug kap-atan ka gabii gigutom siya.

²and having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he did hunger.

³Ug miduol kaniya ang maninintal ug miingon: Kong ikaw mao ang Anak sa Dios, Sumulti ka nga kining mga bato mahimong mga tinapay.

³And the Tempter having come to him said, `If Son thou art of God — speak that these stones may become loaves.`

⁴Apan mitubag siya ug miingon: Nahisulat na: Dili lamang sa tinapay mabuhi ang tawo, kondili sa tanan nga pulong nga nagagula sa baba sa Dios.

⁴But he answering said, `It hath been written, Not upon bread alone doth man live, but upon every word coming forth from the mouth of God.`

⁵Unya gidala siya sa yawa sa lungsod nga balaan, ug gibutang siya sa lantawanan sa templo;

⁵Then doth the Devil take him to the [holy] city, and doth set him on the pinnacle of the temple,

⁶Ug nag-ingon kaniya: Kong ikaw Anak sa Dios, umambak ka sa ubos, kay nahisulat na: Magasugo siya sa iyang mga manolonda nahatungod kanimo, ug pagasapnayon ikaw nila sa ilang mga kamot aron dili mahipangdol ang imong tiil sa bato.

⁶and saith to him, `If Son thou art of God — cast thyself down, for it hath been written, that, His messengers He shall charge concerning thee, and on hands they shall bear thee up, that thou mayest not dash on a stone thy foot.`

⁷Si Jesus miingon kaniya: Nahisulat na usab: Dili mo pagtintalon ang Ginoo nga imong Dios.

⁷Jesus said to him again, `It hath been written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.`

⁸Unya gidala na usab siya sa yawa sa usa ka bukid nga hataas uyamut, ug gipakita kaniya ang tanan nga gingharian sa kalibutan, ug ang ilang himaya;

⁸Again doth the Devil take him to a very high mount, and doth shew to him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them,

⁹Ug nagaingon kaniya: Ngatanan kining mga butanga igahatag ko kanimo kong maghapa ka sa pagsimba kanako.

⁹and saith to him, `All these to thee I will give, if falling down thou mayest bow to me.`

¹⁰Unya si Jesus miingon kaniya: Pahawa ka, satanas, kay nahisulat na: Magsimba ka sa Ginoo nga imong Dios, ug kaniya lamang mag-alagad ikaw,

¹⁰Then saith Jesus to him, `Go — Adversary, for it hath been written, The Lord thy God thou shalt bow to, and Him only thou shalt serve.`

¹¹Unya gibiyaan siya sa yawa, ug ania karon, ang mga manolonda mingduol ug nanag-alagad kaniya.

¹¹Then doth the Devil leave him, and lo, messengers came and were ministering to him.

¹²Karon, sa nakadungog si Jesus nga si Juan gibilanggo, mipauli siya sa Galilea;

¹²And Jesus having heard that John was delivered up, did withdraw to Galilee,

¹³Ug sa gibiyaan niya ang Nazaret, miadto ug nagpuyo siya sa Capernaum, nga diha daplin sa dagat, sa mga utlanan sa Zabulon ug Neftalim;

¹³and having left Nazareth, having come, he dwelt at Capernaum that is by the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtalim,

¹⁴Aron matuman nga hingpit ang gisulti pinaagi kang Isaias nga manalagna nga nagaingon:

¹⁴that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

¹⁵Ang yuta ni Zabulon ug ang yuta ni Neftalim, paingon sa dagat unahan sa Jordan sa Galilea sa mga Gentil;

¹⁵`Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations! —

¹⁶Ang lungsod nga nagalingkod sa kangitngitan nakakita sa usa ka daku nga kahayag; ug sa mga nagalingkod sa dapit ug sa landong sa kamatayon, kanila ang kahayag misidlak.

¹⁶the people that is sitting in darkness saw a great light, and to those sitting in a region and shadow of death — light arose to them.`

¹⁷Sukad niadto misugod si Jesus sa pagwali, ug pag-ingon: Maghinulsol kamo, kay haduol na ang gingharian sa langit.

¹⁷From that time began Jesus to proclaim and to say, `Reform ye, for come nigh hath the reign of the heavens.`

¹⁸Ug sa nagalakaw si Jesus sa ubay sa dagat sa Galilea, hingkit-an niya ang duha ka magsoon, si Simon nga ginganlan si Pedro, ug si Andres nga iyang igsoon, nga nagataktak sa pukot sa dagat, kay sila mga mananagat.

¹⁸And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon named Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a drag into the sea — for they were fishers —

¹⁹Ug miingon kanila: Umari kamo, sunod kanako, ug buhaton ko kamo nga mananagat sa mga tawo.

¹⁹and he saith to them, `Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men,`

²⁰Ug gilayon mibiya sila sa ilang mga pukot ug mingnunot kaniya.

²⁰and they, immediately, having left the nets, did follow him.

²¹Ug sa paggikan niya didto, hingkit-an niya ang lain na usab nga duha ka magsoon, si Jacobo, anak ni Zebedeo ug si Juan nga iyang igsoon, sa sakayan kauban ni Zebedeo nga amahan nila, nga nagapuna sa mga pukot, ug iyang gitawag sila.

²¹And having advanced thence, he saw other two brothers, James of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, refitting their nets, and he called them,

²²Ug gilayon mibiya sila sa ilang sakayan ug sa ilang amahan, ug mingnunot kaniya.

²²and they, immediately, having left the boat and their father, did follow him.

²³Ug gilibut ni Jesus ang tibook Galilea, nga nagapanudlo didto sa mga sinagoga nila, ug nagamantala sa Maayong Balita sa gingharian, ug nagaayo sa tanan nga balatian, ug tanan nga sakit sa katawohan.

²³And Jesus was going about all Galilee teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the reign, and healing every disease, and every malady among the people,

²⁴Ug ang iyang kabantug nasangyaw sa tibook nga Siria; ug gipanagdala kaniya ang tanang mga masakiton, ang mga gitakboyan sa mga nagakalainlain nga mga balatian, ug mga kasakitan, ug mga hingyawaan ug mga saputon, ug mga paralitico; ug iyang giayo sila.

²⁴and his fame went forth to all Syria, and they brought to him all having ailments, pressed with manifold sicknesses and pains, and demoniacs, and lunatics, and paralytics, and he healed them.

²⁵Ug nanagnunot kaniya ang dagkung panon sa mga tawo gikan sa Galilea, ug gikan sa Decapolis, ug gikan sa Jerusalem, ug gikan sa Judea, ug gikan sa unahan sa Jordan.

²⁵And there followed him many multitudes from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
