¹Si Saul may kap-atan ka tuig ang panuigon sa pagsugod niya sa paghari; ug naghari siya ug duruha ka tuig ibabaw sa Israel,

¹Saul was [forty] years old when he began to reign; and when he had reigned two years over Israel,

²Si Saul nagpili alang kaniya sa totolo ka libo ka tawo gikan sa Israel, nga ang duruha ka libo kanila didto uban ni Saul sa Michmas, ug sa bukid sa Beth-el, ug ang usa ka ka libo didto uban ni Jonathan sa Gabaa sa Benjamin: ug ang uban nga katawohan iyang gipapauli ang tagsatagsa ka tawo ngadto sa iyang balongbalong.

²Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel, whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the mount of Beth-el, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.

³Ug si Jonathan nakadaug sa mga sundalo nga bantay sa kuta sa mga Filistehanon nga didto sa Geba; ug ang mga Filistehanon nakadungog niana. Ug gihuyop ni Saul ang trompeta ngadto sa tibook nga yuta, nga nagaingon: Padungga ang mga Hebreohanon.

³And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba: and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.

⁴Ug ang tibook nga Israel nakadungog sa ginaingon nga si Saul nakadaug sa mga sundalong bantay sa kuta sa mga Filistehanon, ug usab nga ang Israel ginaila nga dulumtanan sa mga Filistehanon. Ug ang katawohan nagtigum sa tingub sa pagsunod kang Saul ngadto sa Gilgal.

⁴And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten the garrison of the Philistines, and also that Israel was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were gathered together after Saul to Gilgal.

⁵Ug ang mga Filistehanon nagtapok sa ilang kaugalingon aron sa pagpakig-away sa Israel, katloan ka libo nga carro, ug unom ka libong magkakabayo, ug katawohan nga daw balas sa baybayon ang gidaghanon; ug mingtungas sila ug nagpahaluna sa Michmas, dapit sa silangan sa Beth-aven.

⁵And the Philistines assembled themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea-shore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Michmash, eastward of Beth-aven.

⁶Sa diha nga ang mga tawo sa Israel nakakita nga diha sila sa kalisdanan (kay ang katawohan nanagkaguol), unya ang katawohan nanago sa ilang kaugalingon sa sulod sa mga langub, ug sa mga kalibonan, ug sa mga kapangpangan, ug sa mga tagoanan, ug sa mga gahong.

⁶When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait (for the people were distressed), then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in coverts, and in pits.

⁷Karon ang uban sa mga Hebreohanon nanagpangadto sa tabok sa Jordan ngadto sa yuta sa Gad ug Galaad; apan mahitungod kang Saul siya didto pa sa Gilgal, ug ang tibook katawohan nanagsunod kaniya nga nanagkurog.

⁷Now some of the Hebrews had gone over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead; but as for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.

⁸Ug siya napabilin pito ka adlaw, sumala sa panahon nga gitudlo ni Samuel: apan si Samuel wala umadto sa Gilgal; ug ang katawohan nanagkabulagbulag gikan kaniya.

⁸And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel [had appointed]: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.

⁹Ug si Saul miingon: Dad-a dinhi kanako ang halad-nga-sinunog, ug ang halad-sa-pakigdait. Ug iyang gihalad ang halad-nga-sinunog.

⁹And Saul said, Bring hither the burnt-offering to me, and the peace-offerings. And he offered the burnt-offering.

¹⁰Ug nahitabo, nga, sa nakahuman na siya sa paghalad sa halad-nga-sinunog, ania karon, si Samuel nahiabut; ug si Saul migula sa pagtagbo kaniya, aron sa paghatag ug katahuran kaniya.

¹⁰And it came to pass that, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt-offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.

¹¹Ug si Samuel miingon: Unsay imong nabuhat? ug si Saul miingon: Tungod kay nakita ko nga ang katawohan nagkabulagbulag na gikan kanako, ug nga wala ikaw umanhi sa mga adlaw nga gitagal, ug nga ang mga Filistehanon nanagtigum na sa ilang kaugalingon didto sa Michmas;

¹¹And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Michmash;

¹²Busa miingon ako: Karon molugsong ang mga Filistehanon nganhi kanako sa Gilgal, ug wala ako makapangayo sa kalooy ni Jehova: busa gilugos ko lang ang akong kaugalingon, ug naghalad sa halad-nga-sinunog.

¹²therefore said I, Now will the Philistines come down upon me to Gilgal, and I have not entreated the favor of Jehovah: I forced myself therefore, and offered the burnt-offering.

¹³Ug si Samuel miingon kang Saul: Ikaw naghimo ug binuang; ikaw wala magbantay sa sugo ni Jehova nga imong Dios nga iyang gisugo kanimo; kay karon buot si Jehova nga mapalig-on ang imong gingharian sa Israel sa walay katapusan.

¹³And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly; thou hast not kept the commandment of Jehovah thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would Jehovah have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.

¹⁴Apan karon ang imong gingharian dili magapadayon: si Jehova nangita alang kaniya ug usa ka tawo nga uyon sa iyang kaugalingong kasingkasing, ug si Jehova nagtudlo kaniya aron mahimong principe ibabaw sa iyang katawohan, tungod kay ikaw wala magbantay sumala sa gisugo ni Jehova kanimo.

¹⁴But now thy kingdom shall not continue: Jehovah hath sought him a man after his own heart, and Jehovah hath appointed him to be prince over his people, because thou hast not kept that which Jehovah commanded thee.

¹⁵Ug si Samuel mitindog, ug miadto siya gikan sa Gilgal ngadto sa Gabaa sa Benjamin. Ug si Saul nag-ihap sa katawohan nga diha uban kaniya, duolan sa unom ka gatus ka tawo.

¹⁵And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.

¹⁶Ug si Saul, ug si Jonathan nga iyang anak nga lalake, ug ang katawohan nga diha uban kanila nagpuyo sa Geba sa Benjamin: apan ang mga Filistehanon nanagpahaluna didto sa Michmas.

¹⁶And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in Geba of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.

¹⁷Ug ang mga mangangagaw nanggula gikan sa campo sa mga Filistehanon sa totolo ka panon: ang usa ka panon mipadulong ngadto sa alagianan nga nagadulong ngadto sa Ophra, ngadto sa yuta sa Sual;

¹⁷And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah, unto the land of Shual;

¹⁸Ug ang lain nga panon mipadulong sa dapit ngadto sa Beth-oron; ug ang laing panon mipadulong ngadto sa alagianan sa utlanan nga nagadung-aw sa walog ni Seboim padulong ngadto sa kamingawan.

¹⁸and another company turned the way to Beth-horon; and another company turned the way of the border that looketh down upon the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness.

¹⁹Karon walay makaplagan nga mananalsal sa puthaw sa tibook yuta sa Israel; kay ang mga Filistehanon ming-ingon: Tingali unya ang mga Hebreohanon, managhimo kanila ug mga pinuti kun mga bangkaw:

¹⁹Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel; for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:

²⁰Apan ang tanang mga Israelihanon minglugsong ngadto sa mga Filistehanon, aron sa pagbaid sa tagsatagsa sa iyang punta sa daro, ug sa iyang sarol, ug sa iyang wasay, ug sa iyang bingkong;

²⁰but all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock;

²¹Apan aduna silay limbas alang sa mga bingkong, ug alang sa mga punta, ug alang sa mga salapang, ug alang sa mga wasay, ug alang sa pagpahamutang sa mga tugsok.

²¹yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to set the goads.

²²Busa nahitabo sa adlaw sa gubat, nga walay pinuti, ni bangkaw nga nakaplagan sa kamot sa bisan kang kinsa sa katawohan nga uban ni Saul ug ni Jonathan: apan uban kang Saul ug kang Jonathan ang iyang anak nga lalake, may nakaplagan nga pinuti .

²²So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.

²³Ug ang panon sa mga sundalo nga bantay sa kuta sa mga Filistehanon miadto sa alagianan sa Michmas.

²³And the garrison of the Philistines went out unto the pass of Michmash.
