¹Ug nahitabo sa tapus niini nga ang mga anak sa Moab, ug ang mga anak sa Ammon, ug uban kanila ang uban sa mga Ammonhanon, ming-adto batok kang Josaphat sa pagpakiggubat.

¹And it came to pass after this [that] the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them certain of the Maonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

²Unya may uban nga ming-abut nga mingsugilon kang Josaphat, sa pag-ingon: May ming-abut nga usa ka dakung panon batok kanimo gikan sa dagat unahan sa Siria; ug, ania karon, sila atua sa Hasason-tamar (nga mao usab ang Engedi).

²And they came and told Jehoshaphat saying, A great multitude is come against thee from beyond the sea, from Syria; and behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar, which is Engedi.

³Ug si Josaphat nahadlok, ug napahamutang sa iyang kaugalingon sa pagpangita kang Jehova; ug iyang gimantala ang usa ka pagpuasa sa tibook Juda.

³And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek Jehovah, and proclaimed a fast throughout Judah.

⁴Ug ang Juda nagtigum sa tingub sa ilang kaugalingon, sa pagpangita ug pakitabang kang Jehova; bisan gikan sa tanang mga ciudad sa Juda sila ming-abut sa pagpangita kang Jehova.

⁴And Judah gathered themselves together to ask [help] of Jehovah: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek Jehovah.

⁵Ug si Josaphat mitindog diha sa katilingban sa Juda ug Jerusalem, sa balay ni Jehova, atubangan sa bag-ong sawang;

⁵And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Jehovah, before the new court;

⁶Ug siya miingon: Oh Jehova, ang Dios sa among mga amahan, dili ba ikaw mao ang Dios sa langit? Ug dili ba ikaw mao ang magbubuot sa tanang mga gingharian sa mga nasud? Ug sa imong kamot anaa ang gahum ug kusog, busa mao nga walay makaasdang kanimo.

⁶and he said, Jehovah, God of our fathers, art not thou God in the heavens, and rulest thou not over all the kingdoms of the nations? And in thy hand there is power and might, and none can withstand thee.

⁷Wala ba nimo, Oh Dios, namo papahawaa ang mga pumoluyo niining yutaa gikan sa atubangan sa imong katawohan nga Israel, ug ihatag kini sa kaliwatan ni Abraham nga imong higala sa walay katapusan?

⁷Hast not thou, our God, dispossessed the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and given it for ever to the seed of Abraham, thy friend?

⁸Ug sila namuyo didto, ug nagtukod kanimo ug usa ka balaan nga puloy-anan didto alang sa imong ngalan, sa pag-ingon:

⁸And they have dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,

⁹Kong ang kadaut modangat kanato, ang espada, paghukom, kun kamatay, kun gutom, kami managtindog sa atubangan niining balaya, ug sa atubangan nimo (kay ang imong ngalan ania niining balaya), ug magatu-aw kanimo sa among kasakit, ug ikaw magapatalinghug ug magaluwas.

⁹If evil come upon us, sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, and we stand before this house and before thee -- for thy name is in this house -- and cry unto thee in our distress, then thou wilt hear and save.

¹⁰Ug karon, tan-awa, ang mga anak sa Ammon ug sa Moab ug ang bukid sa Seir, nga dili nimo ipasulong sa Israel, sa ilang paghigula gikan sa yuta sa Egipto, apan sila mingtalikod gikan kanila, ug wala nila gun-oba;

¹⁰And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab, and those of mount Seir, amongst whom thou wouldest not let Israel go when they came out of the land of Egypt, (for they turned from them, and destroyed them not,)

¹¹Ania karon, giunsa nila ang pagbalus kanamo, sa pag-anhi aron sa pagsalikway kanamo gikan sa imong pagpanag-iya, nga imong gihatag kanamo sa pagkapanulondon.

¹¹behold, they reward us, in coming to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to possess.

¹²Oh Dios namo, dili mo ba sila paghukman? Kay kami walay gahum batok niining dakung panon nga mianhi batok kanamo; ni mahibalo kami kong unsay pagabuhaton: apan ang among mga mata gitutuk namo kanimo.

¹²Our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might in presence of this great company which cometh against us, neither know we what to do; but our eyes are upon thee.

¹³Ug ang tibook Juda mingtindog sa atubangan ni Jehova, lakip ang ilang kabataan, ang ilang mga asawa, ug ang ilang mga anak.

¹³And all Judah stood before Jehovah, with their little ones, their wives, and their sons.

¹⁴Unya diha kang Jahaziel ang anak nga lalake ni Zacharias, anak nga lalake ni Benaias, anak nga lalake ni Jeiel, anak nga lalake ni Mathanias, ang Levihanon, sa mga anak nga lalake ni Asaph, miabut ang Espiritu ni Jehova

¹⁴And upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, upon him came the Spirit of Jehovah, in the midst of the congregation;

¹⁵Ug siya miingon: Pamati kamo, tibook Juda, ug kamong mga pumoluyo sa Jerusalem, ug ikaw hari Josaphat: Kini mao ang gipamulong ni Jehova kanimo: Ayaw kamo kahadlok, ni magmaluya tungod niining dakung panon; kay ang gubat dili inyo, kondili iya sa Dios.

¹⁵and he said, Be attentive, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat! Thus saith Jehovah unto you: Fear not, nor be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

¹⁶Ugma umadto kamo batok kanila: Ania karon, sila motungas sa tungasan sa Sis; ug makita ninyo sila sa kinatumyan sa walog, sa dili pa ang kamingawan sa Jeruel.

¹⁶To-morrow go down against them: behold, they come up by the ascent of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

¹⁷Kamo dili kinahanglan nga makig-away niining maong gubat : magpahamutang kamo sa inyong kaugalingon, tumindog kamo sa walay lihok, ug tan-awa ang kaluwasan ni Jehova uban kaninyo, Oh Juda ug Jerusalem; ayaw kahadlok, ni magmaluya: ugma panggula kamo batok kanila: kay si Jehova magauban kaninyo.

¹⁷Ye shall not have to fight on this occasion: set yourselves, stand and see the salvation of Jehovah [who is] with you! Judah and Jerusalem, fear not nor be dismayed; to-morrow go out against them, and Jehovah will be with you.

¹⁸Ug giyukbo ni Josaphat ang iyang ulo uban sa iyang nawong paingon sa yuta; ug ang tibook Juda ug ang mga pumoluyo sa Jerusalem nanghapa sa atubangan ni Jehova, nga nanagsimba kang Jehova.

¹⁸And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Jehovah, worshipping Jehovah.

¹⁹Ug ang mga Levihanon, sa mga anak sa mga Coathnon ug sa mga anak sa mga Corehanon, nanagtindog sa pagdayeg kang Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel, uban sa hataas uyamut nga tingog.

¹⁹And the Levites, of the sons of the Kohathites, and of the sons of the Korahites, stood up to praise Jehovah the God of Israel with an exceeding loud voice.

²⁰Ug sila mingbangon pagsayo sa pagkabuntag, ug ming-adto sa kamingawan sa Tekoa; ug sa nangadto sila si Josaphat mitindog ug miingon: Pamatia ako, Oh Juda, ug kamong mga pumoluyo sa Jerusalem: tumoo kamo kang Jehova nga inyong Dios, aron kamo mamalig-on; tohoi ang iyang mga manalagna, aron kamo manag-uswag.

²⁰And they rose early in the morning, and went forth towards the wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in Jehovah your God, and ye shall be established; believe his prophets, and ye shall prosper!

²¹Ug sa nakatambag na siya sa katawohan, iyang gitudlo sila nga magaawit kang Jehova, ug magadayeg sa katahum sa pagkaputli, sa nagauna sila sa kasundalohan, ug nag-ingon: Maghatag kamo ug mga pasalamat kang Jehova; kay ang iyang mahigugmaong kalolot nagapadayon sa walay katapusan.

²¹And he consulted with the people, and appointed singers to Jehovah, and those that should praise in holy splendour, as they went forth before the armed men, and say, Give thanks to Jehovah; for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever!

²²Ug sa diha nga nagasugod na sila sa pag-awit ug sa pagdayeg, si Jehova nagpahamutang sa mga magbabanhig batok sa mga anak sa Ammon, sa Moab, ug sa bukid sa Seir, nga ming-abut batok sa Juda; ug sila gihampak.

²²And when they began the song of triumph and praise, Jehovah set liers-in-wait against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, who had come against Judah, and they were smitten.

²³Kay ang mga anak sa Ammon ug sa Moab nanagtindog batok sa mga pumoluyo sa bukid sa Seir, aron sa pagpatay ug paglaglag gayud kanila: ug sa diha nga nalaglag na nila ang mga pumoluyo sa Seir, ang tagsatagsa nanagtinabangay sa paglaglag sa lain.

²³And the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, to exterminate and destroy [them]; and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

²⁴Ug sa diha nga ang Juda miabut sa lantawan nga torre sa kamingawan, sila nanaglantaw sa panon sa katawohan; ug, ania karon, sila nanagbuy-od nga mga minatay nga nangapukan sa yuta, ug walay usa nga nakagawas.

²⁴And Judah came on to the mountain-watch in the wilderness, and they looked toward the multitude; and behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none had escaped.

²⁵Ug sa diha nga si Josaphat ug ang iyang katawohan miabut aron sa pagpanguha sa inagaw gikan kanila, ilang nakita sa taliwala nila ang daghan uyamut nga mga bahandi ug mga minatay, ug mga bililhon nga alahas, nga ilang gikuha alang sa ilang kaugalingon, labaw pa kay sa ilang madala: ug totolo ka adlaw ang ilang pagpanguha sa inagaw, daghan kini kaayo.

²⁵And Jehoshaphat and his people came to plunder the spoil of them, and they found among them in abundance, both riches with the dead bodies, and precious things, and they stripped off for themselves more than they could carry away; and they were three days in plundering the spoil, it was so much.

²⁶Ug sa ikaupat ka adlaw sila nanagtigum sa ilang kaugalingon diha sa walog sa Beraka; kay didto gidayeg nila si Jehova: busa ang ngalan niadtong dapita gitawag: Ang walog sa Beraka hangtud niining adlawa.

²⁶And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah, for there they blessed Jehovah; therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Berachah, to this day.

²⁷Unya sila namauli, ang tagsatagsa ka tawo sa Juda ug sa Jerusalem, ug si Josaphat sa ilang unahan, sa pag-adto pag-usab sa Jerusalem uban sa kalipay; kay gihimo silang malipayon ni Jehova ibabaw sa ilang mga kaaway.

²⁷And they returned, all the men of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat at their head, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Jehovah had made them to rejoice over their enemies.

²⁸Ug sila nangabut sa Jerusalem uban ang mga kinuldasan nga tulonggon ug mga alpa ug mga trompeta ngadto sa balay ni Jehova.

²⁸And they came to Jerusalem with lutes and harps and trumpets, to the house of Jehovah.

²⁹Ug ang kahadlok sa Dios diha sa tanang gingharian sa kayutaan, sa diha nga sila nakadungog nga si Jehova nakig-away batok sa mga kaaway sa Israel.

²⁹And the terror of God was on all the kingdoms of the lands, when they had heard that Jehovah fought against the enemies of Israel.

³⁰Busa ang gingharian ni Josaphat malinawon; kay ang iyang Dios mihatag kaniya sa pahulay sa bisan diin nga dapit nga nagalibut.

³⁰And the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet; and his God gave him rest round about.

³¹Ug si Josaphat naghari ibabaw sa Juda: siya katloan ug lima ka tuig ang panuigon sa pagsugod niya paghari; ug siya naghari sa kaluhaan ug lima ka tuig sa Jerusalem: ug ang ngalan sa iyang inahan mao si Asuba ang anak nga babaye ni Silhi.

³¹And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Azubah, daughter of Shilhi.

³²Ug siya naglakat sa dalan ni Asa nga iyang amahan, ug wala mosimang gikan niana, nga nagbuhat niadtong matarung sa mga mata ni Jehova.

³²And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of Jehovah.

³³Apan ang mga dapit nga hatag-as wala gun-oba; ni ang katawohan mag-andam sa ilang kasingkasing alang sa Dios sa ilang mga amahan.

³³Only, the high places were not removed; and as yet the people had not directed their hearts to the God of their fathers.

³⁴Karon ang uban nga mga buhat ni Josaphat, ang nahauna ug ang katapusan, ania karon, sila nanghisulat sa kasaysayan ni Jehu ang anak nga lalake ni Hanani, nga gisal-ut sa basahon sa mga hari sa Israel.

³⁴And the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the words of Jehu the son of Hanani, which are inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.

³⁵Ug sa tapus niini si Josaphat nga hari sa Juda nakighiusa sa iyang kaugalingon uban kang Ochozias nga hari sa Israel; ang mao nga maghihimo sa dautan:

³⁵And after this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly.

³⁶Ug siya nakighiusa sa iyang kaugalingon kaniya sa pagbuhat sa mga sakayan aron sa pag-adto sa Tarsis; ug ilang gihimo ang mga sakayan sa Esiongeber.

³⁶And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish; and they made the ships in Ezion-geber.

³⁷Unya si Eliezer ang anak nga lalake ni Dodava sa Maresa nagtagna batok kang Josaphat, nga nagaingon: Tungod kay ikaw nakighiusa sa imong kaugalingon uban kang Ochozias, gigun-ob ni Jehova ang imong mga buhat. Ug ang mga sakayan nangaguba, mao nga sila wala na makaadto sa Tarsis.

³⁷And Eliezer the son of Dodavah, of Mareshah, prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, Jehovah has broken thy works. And the ships were broken, and could not go to Tarshish.
