¹Ug niadtong mga adlawa, sa nagatubo ang gidaghanon sa mga tinon-an, nanagbagutbot ang mga Judiong Greciahanon batok sa mga Hebreohanon, kay ang ilang mga babayeng balo wala nila pagtagda sa mga pag-alima sa matag-adlaw.

¹But in those days, the disciples multiplying in number, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews because their widows were overlooked in the daily ministration.

²Tungod niini gipatigum sa napulo ug duha ang panon sa mga tinon-an ug nanag-ingon: Dili angay nga pagabiyaan namo ang pulong sa Dios, ug magasilbe kami sa mga lamesa.

²And the twelve, having called the multitude of the disciples to [them], said, It is not right that we, leaving the word of God, should serve tables.

³Busa, mga igsoon, magpangita kamo diha kaninyo ug pito ka tawo mga maayo ug kadungganan, nga mga puno sa Espiritu Santo ug sa kinaadman, nga atong ikatudlo alang niining buluhatona,

³Look out therefore, brethren, from among yourselves seven men, well reported of, full of [the] [Holy] Spirit and wisdom, whom we will establish over this business:

⁴Ug kami magapadayon gayud sa pag-ampo ug sa ministerio sa pulong.

⁴but *we* will give ourselves up to prayer and the ministry of the word.

⁵Ug kini nga pahayag hing-uyonan sa tibook nga panon; ug ilang gipili si Esteban, lalake nga puno sa pagtoo ug sa Espiritu Santo, ug si Felipe, ug si Procoro, ug si Nicanor, ug si Timon, ug si Parmenas, ug si Nicolas, usa ka kinabig, nga taga-Antioquia;

⁵And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and [the] Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch,

⁶Kini sila gipaatubang sa mga apostoles, ug sa human sila makaampo, nagpandung sa ilang mga kamot sa ibabaw nila.

⁶whom they set before the apostles; and, having prayed, they laid their hands on them.

⁷Ug mikaylap ang pulong sa Dios; ug ang gidaghanon sa mga tinon-an misanay sa hilabihan gayud sa Jerusalem, ug usa ka dakung panon sa mga sacerdote nanagmasinugtanon sa pagtoo.

⁷And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was very greatly multiplied, and a great crowd of the priests obeyed the faith.

⁸Ug si Esteban, nga puno sa gracia ug sa gahum, nagbuhat ug daghang mga katingalahan ug mga ilhanan sa taliwala sa katawohan.

⁸And Stephen, full of grace and power, wrought wonders and great signs among the people.

⁹Apan may nanagpanindog sa pipila nga didto sa sinagoga, nga ginganlan sinagoga sa mga Libertino ug sa mga taga-Cirene, ug mga taga-Alejandria, ug niadtong mga taga-Cilicia, ug sa taga-Asia, nakiglantugi kang Esteban.

⁹And there arose up certain of those of the synagogue called of freedmen, and of Cyrenians, and of Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.

¹⁰Ug wala sila makahimo sa pagdaug sa kinaadman ug sa Espiritu nga maila sa iyang gipamulong.

¹⁰And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.

¹¹Unya ang mga tawo gihukipan nila ug salapi, aron manag-ingon: Among hingbatian siya nga nagsulti ug mapasipalahong mga pulong batok kang Moises ug batok sa Dios.

¹¹Then they suborned men, saying, We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.

¹²Ug gipagubot nila ang katawohan, ug ang mga anciano, ug ang mga escriba; ug siya gidam-agan nila, ug gidakup, ug gidala siya ngadto sa Sanhedrin.

¹²And they roused the people, and the elders, and the scribes. And coming upon [him] they seized him and brought [him] to the council.

¹³Ug gipaatubang nila ang mga bakakon nga mga saksi, nga nanag-ingon: Kining tawohana walay pag-undang sa pagsulti sa mga pulong batok niining balaang dapit ug sa Kasugoan.

¹³And they set false witnesses, saying, This man does not cease speaking words against the holy place and the law;

¹⁴Kay among hingdunggan siya nga nag-ingon, nga kini si Jesus nga Nazaretnon magaguba niini nga dapit, ug mag-usab sa mga batasan nga gihatag ni Moises.

¹⁴for we have heard him saying, This Jesus the Nazaraean shall destroy this place, and change the customs which Moses taught us.

¹⁵Unya ang tanang nanaglingkod sa Sanhedrin, sa nanagtutuk sila kaniya, nakita nila ang iyang nawong ingon sa nawong sa usa ka manolonda.

¹⁵And all who sat in the council, looking fixedly on him, saw his face as [the] face of an angel.
