¹Karon sa pagkadungog sa mga kabatok sa Juda ug Benjamin nga ang mga anak sa pagkabinihag nanagtukod ug usa ka templo kang Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel;

¹And the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity were building the temple to Jehovah the God of Israel;

²Unya sila mingpahaduol kang Zorobabel, ug sa mga pangulo sa mga balay sa mga amahan, ug ming-ingon kanila: Patabanga kami sa pagtukod uban kaninyo; kay kami nangita sa inyong Dios, ingon sa inyong gibuhat; ug kami nanaghalad kaniya sukad pa sa mga adlaw ni Esar-haddon nga hari sa Asiria, nga maoy nagdala kanamo dinhi.

²and they came to Zerubbabel and to the chief fathers, and said to them, We would build with you; for we seek your God, as ye; and we have sacrificed to him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up hither.

³Apan si Zorobabel, ug si Jesua, ug ang uban nga mga pangulo sa mga balay sa mga amahan sa Israel, ming-ingon kanila: Kamo walay labut kanamo sa pagtukod sa usa ka balay sa among Dios; apan kami sa among kaugalingon nga panaghiusa magatukod alang kang Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel, sumala sa gisugo kanamo ni Ciro nga hari sa Persia.

³But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the chief fathers of Israel said to them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build a house to our God, but we alone will build to Jehovah the God of Israel, as king Cyrus, the king of Persia, has commanded us.

⁴Unya ang katawohan sa yuta nagpaluya sa mga kamot sa katawohan sa Juda, ug gisamok sila sa ilang pagtukod.

⁴And the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building;

⁵Ug nanuhol ug mga magtatambag batok kanila, aron sa pagpapakyas sa ilang tinguha, sa tanang mga adlaw ni Ciro, nga hari sa Persia, bisan hangtud sa paghari ni Dario nga hari sa Persia.

⁵and they hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

⁶Ug sa paghari ni Assuero, sa sinugdan sa iyang paghari, nagsulat sila ug usa ka sumbong batok sa mga pumoluyo sa Juda ug Jerusalem.

⁶And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

⁷Ug sa mga adlaw ni Artajerjes mingsulat si Bislam, si Mitridates, si Tabeel, ug ang uban sa iyang kaubanan ngadto kang Artajerjes nga hari sa Persia; ug ang pagkudlit sa sulat gihimo sa titik nga Sirianhon, ug gisulat sa sinultihan nga Sirianhon.

⁷And in the days of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions, wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in Aramaic, and interpreted in Aramaic.

⁸Si Rehum ang labaw nga maghuhukom ug si Simsai ang kalihim nagsulat ug usa ka sulat batok sa Jerusalem ngadto kang Artajerjes nga hari ingon niining mosunod:

⁸Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king after this sort:

⁹Unya misulat si Rehum ang labaw nga maghuhukom, ug si Simsai nga kalihim, ug uban pa sa iyang mga kauban, ang mga Dinehanon, ug ang mga Apharsathachehanon, ang mga Thepharlehanon, ang mga Apharsehanon, ang mga Erchuehanon, ang mga taga Babilonia, ang mga Susanchehanon, ang mga Dievehanon, ang mga Elamithanon.

⁹Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions, the Dinaites, and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,

¹⁰Ug ang uban sa mga nasud nga gipanala sa daku ug halangdon nga Asnappar, ug gipahamutang didto sa ciudad sa Samaria, ug didto sa uban nga yuta unahan sa Suba, ug sa uban pa.

¹⁰and the rest of the peoples whom the great and noble Osnappar brought over and settled in the cities of Samaria, and the rest [of the country] on this side the river, and so forth.

¹¹Kini mao ang hulad sa sulat nga ilang gipadala kang Artajerjes nga hari: Ang imong mga alagad nga mga tawo unahan sa Suba, ug sa uban pa.

¹¹This is the copy of the letter that they sent to him: To Artaxerxes the king: Thy servants the men on this side the river, and so forth.

¹²Angay nga kini hibaloan unta sa hari, nga ang mga Judio nga nangabut gikan kanimo ming-abut kanamo sa Jerusalem; sila nagatukod sa masukolon ug dautan nga ciudad, ug nakahuman na sa mga kuta, ug giayo ang mga patukoranan.

¹²Be it known to the king that the Jews who came up from thee unto us have come to Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and the bad city, and they complete the walls and join up the foundations.

¹³Angay nga kini hibaloan unta karon sa hari, nga, kong kining ciudara matukod, ug ang mga kuta mahuman, sila dili mobayad sa buhis, alcabala, kun amot alang sa dalan, ug sa katapusan kini mahimong kadaut sa mga hari.

¹³Be it known therefore unto the king, that, if this city be built and the walls be completed, they will not pay tribute, tax, and toll, and in the end it will bring damage to the kings.

¹⁴Karon tungod kay kami nagakaon sa asin sa palacio, ug dili angay kanamo ang pagtan-aw sa hari nga kakuhaan sa kadungganan, busa nagapadala kami ug nagapamatuod sa hari;

¹⁴Now, since we eat the salt of the palace, and it is not right for us to see the king's injury, therefore have we sent and informed the king;

¹⁵Nga ang pagsusi himoon unta diha sa basahon sa mga kaagi sa imong mga amahan: aron ikaw makakaplag diha sa basahon sa mga kaagi, ug mahibalo nga kining ciudara maoy usa ka masukolon nga ciudad, ug makadaut sa mga hari ug sa mga lalawigan, ug nga sila naghimo ug pag-alsa batok sa maong lungsod sa unang panahon; sa maong hinungdan kining ciudara gihimong kamingawan.

¹⁵that search may be made in the book of the annals of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the annals and know that this city is a rebellious city, which has done damage to kings and provinces, and that they have raised sedition within the same of old time, for which cause this city was destroyed.

¹⁶Kami nagapamatuod sa hari, nga kong kining ciudara mamatukod ug ang mga kuta mahuman, tungod nining paagiha ikaw mahimong walay bahin unahan sa Suba.

¹⁶We inform the king that if this city be built and its walls be completed, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.

¹⁷Unya ang hari nagpadala ug usa ka tubag ngadto kang Rehum, ang labaw nga maghuhukom, ug ngadto kang Simsai nga escriba, ug ngadto sa uban pa sa ilang mga kauban nga nanagpuyo sa Samaria, ug sa uban nga yuta unahan sa Suba: Pakigdait, ug uban pa.

¹⁷The king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and the other places beyond the river: Peace, and so forth.

¹⁸Ang sulat nga imong gipadala kanamo gibasa sa matin-aw gayud sa akong atubangan.

¹⁸The letter that ye sent to us has been read before me distinctly.

¹⁹Ug ako nagsugo, ug ang pagsusi gihimo, ug nakita nga kining ciudara sa unahang panahon naghimo ug kagubot batok sa mga hari, ug nga ang pag-alsa ug pagsukol gihimo didto.

¹⁹And I gave orders, and search has been made, and it has been found that this city of old time has made insurrection against the kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been raised therein.

²⁰May mga gamhanang hari usab sa ibabaw sa Jerusalem, nga naghari sa tibook nga yuta unahan sa Suba; ug buhis, alcabala, ug amot alang sa dalan, gibayad ngadto kanila.

²⁰And there have been mighty kings over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all beyond the river; and tribute, tax, and toll were paid to them.

²¹Himoon ninyo karon ang usa ka pahibalo sa pagpahunong niining mga tawohana ug nga kining ciudara dili tukoron, hangtud nga ang usa ka pagbulot-an pagahimoon nako.

²¹Now give order to make these men to cease, and that this city be not built, until the order shall be given from me;

²²Ug pagbantay nga kamo dili magmaluya dinhi niini: ngano nga ang kadaut magadugang ngadto sa kapildihan sa mga hari?

²²and take heed that ye fail not to do this: why should harm grow to the damage of the kings?

²³Unya sa gibasa ang hulad sa sulat sa hari nga si Artajerjes sa atubangan ni Rehum, ug ni Simsai nga escriba, ug sa ilang mga kauban, sila ming-adto sa madali sa Jerusalem ngadto sa mga Judio, ug gipahunong sila pinaagi sa pagpugos ug gahum.

²³As soon as the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem to the Jews, and made them cease by force and power.

²⁴Unya nahunong ang buhat sa balay sa Dios nga didto sa Jerusalem; ug kini nahunong hangtud sa ikaduhang tuig sa paghari ni Dario, nga hari sa Persia.

²⁴Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem; and it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
