¹And after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkijah,

²Ang anak nga lalake ni Sallum, anak nga lalake ni Sadoc, ang anak nga lalake ni Achitob,

²the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

³Ang anak nga lalake ni Amarias, ang anak nga lalake ni Azarias, ang anak nga lalake ni Meraioth,

³the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

⁴Ang anak nga lalake ni Zeraias, ang anak nga lalake ni Uzzi, ang anak nga lalake ni Bucci.

⁴the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

⁵Ang anak nga lalake ni Abisue, ang anak nga lalake ni Phinees ang anak nga lalake ni Eleazar, ang anak nga lalake ni Aaron, ang pangulo nga sacerdote

⁵the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest,

⁶Kini si Esdras mitungas gikan sa Babilonia. Ug siya maoy usa ka maabtik nga escriba sa basahon ni Moises, nga gihatag ni Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel; ug ang hari mihatag kaniya sa tanan niyang gipangayo, sumala sa kamot ni Jehova nga iyang Dios sa ibabaw niya.

⁶-- this Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah the God of Israel had given. And the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Jehovah his God upon him.

⁷Ug may ming-adto nga uban sa mga anak sa Israel, ug sa mga sacerdote, ug sa mga Levihanon, ug sa mga mag-aawit, ug sa mga magbalantay sa pultahan, ug sa mga Nethinhanon, ngadto sa Jerusalem, sa ikapito ka tuig ni Artajerjes nga hari.

⁷(And there went up [some] of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the doorkeepers, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.)

⁸Ug siya miadto sa Jerusalem sa ikalimang bulan, nga maoy ikapito ka tuig sa hari.

⁸And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

⁹Kay sa nahaunang adlaw sa nahaunang bulan misugod siya sa pagtungas gikan sa Babilonia; ug sa nahaunang adlaw sa ikalima ka bulan miabut siya sa Jerusalem, sumala sa maayong kamot sa iyang Dios sa ibabaw niya.

⁹For upon the first of the first month the project of going up from Babylon was determined on, and on the first of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

¹⁰Kay gibutang ni Esdras ang iyang kasingkasing sa pagpangita sa Kasugoan ni Jehova, ug sa pagbuhat niini. ug sa pagtudlo sa Israel sa kabalaoran ug mga tulomanon.

¹⁰For Ezra had directed his heart to seek the law of Jehovah and to do it, and to teach in Israel the statutes and the ordinances.

¹¹Karon mao kini ang hulad sa sulat nga gihatag ni Artajerjes nga hari alang kang Esdras ang sacerdote, ang escriba, bisan pa ang escriba sa mga pulong sa mga sugo ni Jehova, ug sa iyang kabalaoran sa Israel:

¹¹And this is the copy of the letter that king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commandments of Jehovah, and of his statutes to Israel:

¹²Si Artajerjes, ang hari sa mga hari, ngadto kang Esdras nga sacerdote, ang escriba sa Kasugoan sa Dios sa langit, hingpit ug uban pa.

¹²Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, an accomplished scribe of the law of the God of the heavens, and so forth.

¹³Ako naghimo ug usa ka sugo, nga ang tanan kanila sa katawohan sa Israel, ug ang ilang mga sacerdote ug ang mga Levihanon, sa akong gingharian, nga may hunahuna sa ilang kaugalingong kinabubut-on sa pag-adto sa Jerusalem, umuban kanimo.

¹³I have given orders that all they of the people of Israel, and of their priests and the Levites, in my realm, who are disposed to go to Jerusalem, go with thee.

¹⁴Kay ingon nga ikaw gipadala sa hari ug sa iyang pito ka magtatambag, sa pagpangutana mahitungod sa Juda ug Jerusalem, sumala sa Kasugoan sa imong Dios nga anaa sa imong kamot,

¹⁴Because thou art sent by the king, and by his seven counsellors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand;

¹⁵Ug sa pagdala sa salapi ug bulawan, nga gihalad sa kinabubut-on sa hari ug sa iyang magtatambag ngadto sa Dios sa Israel, kansang puloy-anan atua sa Jerusalem.

¹⁵and to carry the silver and gold which the king and his counsellors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is at Jerusalem,

¹⁶Ug ang tanang salapi ug bulawan nga imong hingkaplagan sa tibook lalawigan sa Babilonia, uban sa kinabubut-ong paghalad sa katawohan, ug sa mga sacerdote nga minghalad sa kinabubut-on alang sa balay sa ilang Dios nga anaa sa Jerusalem.

¹⁶and all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, besides the voluntary offering of the people, and of the priests, who offer willingly for the house of their God which is at Jerusalem.

¹⁷Busa uban sa tibook nga pagsingkamot pumalit ka niining salapi ug mga lakeng vaca, mga lakeng carnero, mga nating carnero, uban ang mga halad-nga-kalan-on ug ang ilang mga halad-nga-ilimnon, ug magahalad niana sa ibabaw sa halaran sa balay sa imong Dios nga anaa sa Jerusalem.

¹⁷Therefore thou shalt buy diligently with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their oblations and their drink-offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is at Jerusalem.

¹⁸Ug bisan unsa nga daw maayo kanimo ug sa imong kaigsoonan sa paggamit sa ubannga salapi ug sa bulawan, kini buhaton ninyo sumala sa kabubut-on sa inyong Dios.

¹⁸And whatever shall seem good to thee and to thy brethren to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do according to the will of your God.

¹⁹Ug ang mga sudlanan nga gihatag kanimo alang sa pag-alagad sa balay sa imong Dios, imong ihatag sa atubangan sa Dios sa Jerusalem.

¹⁹And the vessels that have been given thee for the service of the house of thy God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem.

²⁰Ug bisan unsa pa nga kinahanglanon kaayo alang sa balay sa imong Dios, nga ikaw may higayon sa paghatag, ihatag kini gikan sa balay nga tipiganan sa bahandi sa hari.

²⁰And whatever more shall be needful for the house of thy God which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.

²¹Ug ako, bisan ako gayud si Artajerjes nga hari, nagahatag ug usa ka sugo sa tanang mga mamahandi nga atua sa unahan sa Suba, nga bisan unsa ang kinahanglanon gikan kaninyo ni Esdras nga sacerdote, ang escriba sa Kasugoan sa Dios sa langit, kana pagabuhaton uban sa tibook nga pagsingkamot,

²¹And I, I Artaxerxes the king, do give orders to all the treasurers that are beyond the river, that whatever Ezra the priest and scribe of the law of the God of the heavens shall require of you, it be done diligently,

²²Kutob sa usa kagatus ka talento nga salapi, ug usa ka gatus ka takus nga trigo, ug usa ka gatus ka bato nga vino, ug usa ka gatus ka bato nga lana , ug asin sa walay pag-ihap kong pila.

²²unto a hundred talents of silver, and to a hundred measures of wheat, and to a hundred baths of wine, and to a hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing [how much].

²³Bisan unsa nga gisugo sa Dios sa langit, ipabuhat kana sa sibo gayud alang sa balay sa Dios sa langit, kay ngano ba nga may kaligutgut batok sa gingharian sa hari ug sa iyang mga anak nga lalake?

²³Whatever is commanded by the God of the heavens, let it be carefully done for the house of the God of the heavens; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

²⁴Kami usab nagapamatuod kanimo, nga mahitungod sa bisan kinsa sa mga sacerdote ug sa mga Levihanon, sa mga mag-aawit, sa mga magbalantay sa pultahan, sa mga Nethinhanon, kun sa mga alagad niining balay sa Dios, kini dili mahasubay sa balaod ang pagpabuhis kanila, alcabala, kun amot alang sa dalan.

²⁴Also we inform you, as regards all the priests and Levites, singers, doorkeepers, Nethinim, and ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, tax, and toll upon them.

²⁵Ug ikaw, Esdras, sunod sa kaalam sa imong Dios nga anaa sa imong kamot, magtudlo ka ug mga punoan ug mga maghuhukom, nga magahukom sa tibook nga katawohan nga anaa sa unahan sa Suba, kadtong tanan nga manghibalo sa mga sugo sa imong Dios; ug tudloan ninyo siya nga wala manghibalo.

²⁵And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, which is in thy hand, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye him that knows [them] not.

²⁶Ug bisan kinsa nga dili magabuhat sa Kasugoan sa imong Dios, ug sa balaod sa hari, ipakanaug ang hukom kaniya uban sa tibook nga pagsingkamot, bisan kini mahatungod sa kamatayon, kun papahawaon ba sa yutang natawohan, kun sa pagsakmit ba sa mga kabtangan, kun sa pagbilanggo ba.

²⁶And whosoever will not do the law of thy God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed diligently upon him, whether unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

²⁷Dalayegon si Jehova, ang Dios sa atong mga amahan, nga nagapahiluna sa maong butang sama niini sa kasingkasing sa hari, sa paghimong matahum sa balay ni Jehova nga atua sa Jerusalem;

²⁷Blessed be Jehovah the God of our fathers, who has put [such a thing] as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is at Jerusalem;

²⁸Ug naghatag sa mahigugmaong-kalolot kanako sa atubangan sa hari, ug sa iyang mga magtatambag, ug sa atubangan sa tanang mga gamhanang principe sa hari. Ug ako gipalig-on sumala sa pagmando sa kamot ni Jehova nga akong Dios kanako, ug akong gitigum sa pagtingub gikan sa Israel mga tawo nga pangulo aron sa pag-adto uban kanako.

²⁸and has extended mercy to me before the king and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened, as the hand of Jehovah my God was upon me; and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
