1Ženska mudrost sagradi kuću, a ludost je rukama razgrađuje.
1The wisdom of women buildeth their house; but folly plucketh it down with her hands.
2Tko živi s poštenjem, boji se Jahve, a tko ide stranputicom, prezire ga.
2He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; but he that is perverted in his ways despiseth him.
3U luđakovim je ustima šiba za oholost njegovu, a mudre štite vlastite usne.
3In the fool's mouth is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4Gdje nema volova, prazne su jasle, a obilna je žetva od snage bikove.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5Istinit svjedok ne laže, a krivi svjedok širi laž.
5A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness uttereth lies.
6Podsmjevač traži mudrost i ne nalazi je, a razumni lako dolazi do znanja.
6A scorner seeketh wisdom, and there is none [for him]; but knowledge is easy unto the intelligent.
7Idi od čovjeka bezumna jer nećeš upoznati usne što zbore znanje.
7Go from the presence of a foolish man, in whom thou perceivest not the lips of knowledge.
8Mudrost je pametna čovjeka u tom što pazi na svoj put, a bezumnička ludost prijevara je.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way; but the folly of the foolish is deceit.
9Luđacima je grijeh šala, a milost je Božja s poštenima.
9Fools make a mock at trespass; but for the upright there is favour.
10Srce poznaje svoj jad, i veselje njegovo ne može dijeliti nitko drugi.
10The heart knoweth its own bitterness, and a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.
11Dom opakih propast će, a šator će pravednika procvasti.
11The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12Neki se put učini čovjeku prav, a na koncu vodi k smrti.
12There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death.
13I u smijehu srce osjeća bol, a poslije veselja dolazi tuga.
13Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is sadness.
14Otpadnik se siti svojim prestupcima, a dobar čovjek svojim radom.
14The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man from what is in himself.
15Glupan vjeruje svakoj riječi, a pametan pazi na korak svoj.
15The simple believeth every word; but the prudent [man] heedeth his going.
16Mudar se boji i oda zla se uklanja, a bezuman se raspaljuje i bez straha je.
16A wise [man] feareth and departeth from evil; but the foolish is overbearing and confident.
17Nagao čovjek čini ludosti, a razborit ih podnosi.
17He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, and a man of mischievous devices is hated.
18Glupaci baštine ludost, a mudre ovjenčava znanje.
18The simple inherit folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19Zli padaju ničice pred dobrima i opaki pred vratima pravednikovim.
19The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous [man].
20I svom prijatelju mrzak je siromah, a bogataš ima mnogo ljubitelja.
20He that is poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
21Griješi tko prezire bližnjega svoga, a blago onomu tko je milostiv ubogima.
21He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious to the afflicted, happy is he.
22Koji snuju zlo, ne hode li stranputicom, a zar nisu dobrota i vjernost s onima koji snuju dobro?
22Do they not err that devise evil? but loving-kindness and truth are for those that devise good.
23U svakom trudu ima probitka, a pusto brbljanje samo je na siromaštvo.
23In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to want.
24Mudrima je vijenac bogatstvo njihovo, a bezumnima kruna - njihova ludost.
24The crown of the wise is their riches; the folly of the foolish is folly.
25Istinit svjedok izbavlja duše, a tko laži širi, taj je varalica.
25A true witness delivereth souls; but deceit uttereth lies.
26U strahu je Gospodnjem veliko pouzdanje i njegovim je sinovima utočište.
26In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27Strah Gospodnji izvor je života: on izbavlja od zamke smrti.
27The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.
28Mnoštvo je naroda ponos kralju, a bez puka knez propada.
28In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the lack of people is the ruin of a prince.
29Tko se teško srdi, velike je razboritosti, a nabusit duhom pokazuje ludost.
29He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30Mirno je srce život tijelu, a ljubomor je gnjilež u kostima.
30A sound heart is the life of the flesh; but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31Tko tlači siromaha huli na stvoritelja, a časti ga tko je milostiv ubogomu.
31He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; but he that honoureth Him is gracious to the needy.
32Opaki propada zbog vlastite pakosti, a pravednik i u samoj smrti nalazi utočište.
32The wicked is driven away by his evil-doing; but the righteous trusteth, [even] in his death.
33U razumnu srcu mudrost počiva, a što je u bezumnome, to se i pokaže.
33Wisdom resteth in the heart of the intelligent [man]; but that which is in the foolish maketh itself known.
34Pravednost uzvisuje narod, a grijeh je sramota pucima.
34Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to peoples.
35Kralju je mio razborit sluga, a na sramotna se srdi.
35The king's favour is toward a wise servant; but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
