¹Davidov. Jahve mi je svjetlost i spasenje: koga da se bojim? Jahve je štit života moga: pred kime da strepim?

¹{[A Psalm] of David.} Jehovah is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

²Kad navale na me zlotvori da mi tijelo žderu, protivnici moji i dušmani, oni posrću i padaju.

²When evil-doers, mine adversaries and mine enemies, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

³Nek' se vojska protiv mene utabori, srce se moje ne boji; nek' i rat plane protiv mene, i tada pun sam pouzdanja.

³If a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; if war rise against me, in this will I be confident.

⁴Za jedno molim Jahvu, samo to ja tražim: da živim u Domu Jahvinu sve dane života svoga, da uživam milinu Jahvinu i Dom njegov gledam.

⁴One [thing] have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Jehovah, and to inquire [of him] in his temple.

⁵U sjenici svojoj on me zaklanja u dan kobni; skriva me u skrovištu Šatora svoga, na hridinu on me uzdiže.

⁵For in the day of evil he will hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tent will he keep me concealed: he will set me high upon a rock.

⁶I sada izdižem glavu iznad dušmana oko sebe. U njegovu ću Šatoru prinositi žrtve radosne, Jahvi ću pjevat' i klicati.

⁶And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; and I will offer in his tent sacrifices of shouts of joy: I will sing, yea, I will sing psalms unto Jehovah.

⁷Slušaj, o Jahve, glas moga vapaja, milostiv mi budi, usliši me!

⁷Hear, Jehovah; with my voice do I call; be gracious unto me, and answer me.

⁸Moje mi srce govori: "Traži lice njegovo!" Da, lice tvoje, o Jahve, ja tražim.

⁸My heart said for thee, Seek ye my face. Thy face, O Jehovah, will I seek.

⁹Ne skrivaj lica svoga od mene. Ne odbij u gnjevu slugu svoga! Ti, Pomoći moja, nemoj me odbaciti! I ne ostavi me, Bože, Spasitelju moj!

⁹Hide not thy face from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

¹⁰Ako me otac i mati ostave, Jahve će me primiti.

¹⁰For had my father and my mother forsaken me, then had Jehovah taken me up.

¹¹Nauči me, Jahve, putu svojemu, ravnom me stazom povedi poradi protivnika mojih.

¹¹Teach me thy way, Jehovah, and lead me in an even path, because of mine enemies.

¹²Bijesu dušmana mojih ne predaj me, jer ustadoše na mene svjedoci lažni koji dašću nasiljem.

¹²Deliver me not over to the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out violence.

¹³Vjerujem da ću uživati dobra Jahvina u zemlji živih.

¹³Unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living ...!

¹⁴U Jahvu se uzdaj, ojunači se, čvrsto nek' bude srce tvoje: u Jahvu se uzdaj!

¹⁴Wait for Jehovah; be strong and let thy heart take courage: yea, wait for Jehovah.
