1Psalam. Asafov Kako je dobar Bog čestitima, Bog onima koji su čista srca!
1{A Psalm of Asaph.} Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are of a pure heart.
2A meni umalo noge ne posrnuše, zamalo koraci ne okliznuše,
2But as for me, my feet were almost gone, my steps had well nigh slipped;
3jer zločincima zavidjeh motreći sreću grešnika.
3For I was envious at the arrogant, seeing the prosperity of the wicked.
4Nikakvu patnju ne snose, pretilo je tijelo njihovo.
4For they have no pangs in their death, and their body is well nourished;
5Ne žive u mukama smrtnika, ljudske ih nevolje ne biju.
5They have not the hardships of mankind, neither are they plagued like [other] men:
6Stoga je oholost ogrlica vratu njihovu, a nasilje haljina koja ih pokriva.
6Therefore pride encompasseth them as a neck-chain, violence covereth them [as] a garment;
7Iz pretila srca izlazi opakost njihova, srca im se prelijevaju ispraznim tlapnjama.
7Their eyes stand out from fatness, they exceed the imaginations of their heart:
8Podsmjehuju se i zlobno govore, nasiljem prijete odozgo.
8They mock and speak wickedly of oppression, they speak loftily:
9Ustima na nebo nasrću, a jezik se njihov obara na zemlju.
9They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10Zato moj narod za njima leti i srče obilne vode
10Therefore his people turn hither, and waters in fulness are wrung out to them.
11pa veli: "Kako da dozna Bog? Spoznaje li Svevišnji?"
11And they say, How can ùGod know, and is there knowledge in the Most High?
12Eto, takvi su grešnici: uvijek spokojni, bogatstvo zgrću.
12Behold, these are the wicked, and they prosper in the world: they heap up riches.
13Jesam li, dakle, samo ja uzalud čuvao srce čisto i u nedužnosti prao ruke
13Truly have I purified my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency:
14kad sam primao udarce svaki dan i kaznu jutro za jutrom?
14For all the day have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15Da sam kazao: "Govorit ću kao i oni", izdao bih rod sinova tvojih.
15If I said, I will speak thus, behold, I should be faithless to the generation of thy children.
16Promišljah tada da bih spoznao: al' mi se učini mučno u očima mojim
16When I thought to be able to know this, it was a grievous task in mine eyes;
17sve dok ne nađoh ulaz u Božje svetinje pa prozreh kakav im je svršetak.
17Until I went into the sanctuaries of ùGod; [then] understood I their end.
18Zaista, na klizavu stazu ti ih postavljaš, u propast ih obaraš.
18Truly thou settest them in slippery places, thou castest them down in ruins.
19Kako učas propadoše, nestaše, užas ih izjede!
19How are they suddenly made desolate! they pass away, consumed with terrors.
20Kao što čovjek prezire san kad se probudi, tako ćeš, Gospode, prezreti lik im kada ustaneš.
20As a dream, when one awaketh, wilt thou, Lord, on arising despise their image.
21Kad mi duša bijaše ojađena, a bubrezi probodeni,
21When my heart was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins,
22bezumnik bijah bez razbora, k'o živinče pred tobom.
22Then I was brutish and knew nothing; I was [as] a beast with thee.
23Al' ću odsad uvijek biti s tobom, jer ti prihvati desnicu moju:
23Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand;
24vodit ćeš me po naumu svojem da me zatim uzmeš u slavu svoju.
24Thou wilt guide me by thy counsel, and after the glory, thou wilt receive me.
25Koga ja imam u nebu osim tebe? Kad sam s tobom, ne veselim se zemlji.
25Whom have I in the heavens? and there is none upon earth I desire beside thee.
26Malaksalo mi tijelo i srce: okrilje srca moga, i baštino moja, o Bože, dovijeka!
26My flesh and my heart faileth: God is the rock of my heart and my portion for ever.
27Doista, propast će oni koji se udaljuju od tebe, istrebljuješ svakog tko ti se iznevjeri.
27For behold, they that are far from thee shall perish; thou destroyest every one that goeth a whoring from thee.
28A meni je milina biti u Božjoj blizini, imati sklonište svoje u Jahvi. Pripovijedat ću sva tvoja djela na vratima Kćeri sionske.
28But as for me, it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord Jehovah, that I may declare all thy works.
