1 Yr henuriad at yr arglwyddes etholedig a'i phlant. Yr wyf fi, ac nid myfi yn unig, ond pawb sydd wedi dod i wybod y gwirionedd, yn eich caru yn y gwirionedd,
1The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 er mwyn y gwirionedd sydd yn aros ynom ni, ac a fydd gyda ni am byth.
2For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
3 Bydd gras, trugaredd a thangnefedd gyda ni, oddi wrth Dduw y Tad ac oddi wrth Iesu Grist, Mab y Tad, mewn gwirionedd a chariad.
3Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 Bu'n llawenydd mawr i mi gael rhai o'th blant di yn rhodio yn y gwirionedd, fel y cawsom orchymyn gan y Tad.
4I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
5 Ac yn awr yr wyf yn erfyn arnat, arglwyddes, ond nid fel un yn ysgrifennu iti orchymyn newydd; gorchymyn a oedd gennym o'r dechrau ydyw, sef ein bod i garu ein gilydd.
5And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 A hyn yw cariad: ein bod yn rhodio yn �l ei orchmynion ef. A'r gorchymyn hwn, fel y clywsoch o'r dechreuad, yw eich bod i rodio mewn cariad.
6And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 Oherwydd aeth twyllwyr lawer allan i'r byd, y rhai nad ydynt yn cyffesu bod Iesu Grist wedi dod yn y cnawd; dyma'r twyllwr a'r Anghrist.
7For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Gwyliwch eich hunain, rhag ichwi golli ffrwyth ein llafur, ond derbyn eich gwobr yn gyflawn.
8Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Pob un sy'n mynd rhagddo heb aros yn nysgeidiaeth Crist, nid yw Duw ganddo; y sawl sydd yn aros yn y ddysgeidiaeth, y mae'r Tad a'r Mab ganddo.
9Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 Os daw rhywun atoch heb ddod �'r ddysgeidiaeth hon, peidiwch �'i dderbyn i'ch tu375? na'i gyfarch ef,
10If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 oherwydd y mae'r sawl sy'n ei gyfarch yn gyfrannog o'i weithredoedd drygionus.
11For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Er bod gennyf lawer o bethau i'w hysgrifennu atoch, gwell gennyf beidio �'u hysgrifennu � phapur ac inc; rwy'n gobeithio dod atoch, a siarad � chwi wyneb yn wyneb, ac yna bydd ein llawenydd yn gyflawn.
12Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
13 Y mae plant dy chwaer etholedig yn dy gyfarch di.
13The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
