¹ Pan benderfynwyd ein bod i hwylio i'r Eidal, trosglwyddwyd Paul a rhai carcharorion eraill i ofal canwriad o'r enw Jwlius, o'r fintai Ymerodrol.

¹And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.

² Aethom ar fwrdd llong o Adramytium oedd ar hwylio i'r porthladdoedd ar hyd glannau Asia, a chodi angor. Yr oedd Aristarchus, Macedoniad o Thesalonica, gyda ni.

²And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

³ Trannoeth, cyraeddasom Sidon. Bu Jwlius yn garedig wrth Paul, a rhoi caniat�d iddo fynd at ei gyfeillion, iddynt ofalu amdano.

³And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

⁴ Oddi yno, wedi codi angor, hwyliasom yng nghysgod Cyprus, am fod y gwyntoedd yn ein herbyn;

⁴And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

⁵ ac wedi inni groesi'r m�r sydd gyda glannau Cilicia a Pamffylia, cyraeddasom Myra yn Lycia.

⁵And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

⁶ Yno cafodd y canwriad long o Alexandria oedd yn hwylio i'r Eidal, a gosododd ni arni.

⁶And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

⁷ Buom am ddyddiau lawer yn hwylio'n araf, a chael trafferth i gyrraedd i ymyl Cnidus. Gan fod y gwynt yn dal i'n rhwystro, hwyliasom i gysgod Creta gyferbyn � Salmone,

⁷And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

⁸ a thrwy gadw gyda'r tir, daethom � chryn drafferth i le a elwid Porthladdoedd Teg, nid nepell o dref Lasaia.

⁸And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

⁹ Gan fod cryn amser wedi mynd heibio, a bod morio bellach yn beryglus, oherwydd yr oedd hyd yn oed Gu373?yl yr Ympryd drosodd eisoes, rhoes Paul y cyngor hwn iddynt:

⁹Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

¹⁰ "Ddynion, 'rwy'n gweld y bydd mynd ymlaen �'r fordaith yma yn sicr o beri difrod a cholled enbyd, nid yn unig i'r llwyth ac i'r llong, ond i'n bywydau ni hefyd."

¹⁰And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

¹¹ Ond yr oedd y canwriad yn rhoi mwy o goel ar y peilot a meistr y llong nag ar eiriau Paul.

¹¹Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

¹² A chan fod y porthladd yn anghymwys i fwrw'r gaeaf ynddo, yr oedd y rhan fwyaf o blaid hwylio oddi yno, yn y gobaith y gallent rywfodd gyrraedd Phenix, porthladd yn Creta yn wynebu'r de�orllewin a'r gogledd-orllewin, a bwrw'r gaeaf yno.

¹²And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

¹³ Pan gododd gwynt ysgafn o'r de, tybiasant fod eu bwriad o fewn eu cyrraedd. Codasant angor, a dechrau hwylio gyda glannau Creta, yn agos i'r tir.

¹³And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

¹⁴ Ond cyn hir, rhuthrodd gwynt tymhestlog, Ewraculon fel y'i gelwir, i lawr o'r tir.

¹⁴But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

¹⁵ Cipiwyd y llong ymaith, a chan na ellid dal ei thrwyn i'r gwynt, bu raid ildio, a chymryd ein gyrru o'i flaen.

¹⁵And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

¹⁶ Wedi rhedeg dan gysgod rhyw ynys fechan a elwir Cawda, llwyddasom, trwy ymdrech, i gael y bad dan reolaeth.

¹⁶And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

¹⁷ Codasant ef o'r du373?r, a mynd ati � chyfarpar i amwregysu'r llong; a chan fod arnynt ofn cael eu bwrw ar y Syrtis, tynasant y g�r hwylio i lawr, a mynd felly gyda'r lli.

¹⁷Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

¹⁸ Trannoeth, gan ei bod hi'n dal yn storm enbyd arnom, dyma ddechrau taflu'r llwyth i'r m�r;

¹⁸And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

¹⁹ a'r trydydd dydd, lluchio g�r y llong i ffwrdd �'u dwylo eu hunain.

¹⁹And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

²⁰ Ond heb na haul na s�r i'w gweld am ddyddiau lawer, a'r storm fawr yn dal i'n llethu, yr oedd pob gobaith am gael ein hachub bellach yn diflannu.

²⁰And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

²¹ Yna, wedi iddynt fod heb fwyd am amser hir, cododd Paul yn eu canol hwy a dweud: "Ddynion, dylasech fod wedi gwrando arnaf fi, a pheidio � hwylio o Creta, ac arbed y difrod hwn a'r golled.

²¹But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

²² Ond yn awr yr wyf yn eich cynghori i godi'ch calon; oherwydd ni bydd dim colli bywyd yn eich plith chwi, dim ond colli'r llong.

²²And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

²³ Oherwydd neithiwr safodd yn fy ymyl angel y Duw a'm piau, yr hwn yr wyf yn ei addoli,

²³For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

²⁴ a dweud, 'Paid ag ofni, Paul; y mae'n rhaid i ti sefyll gerbron Cesar, a dyma Dduw o'i ras wedi rhoi i ti fywydau pawb o'r rhai sy'n morio gyda thi.'

²⁴Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

²⁵ Felly codwch eich calonnau, ddynion, oherwydd yr wyf yn credu Duw, mai felly y bydd, fel y dywedwyd wrthyf.

²⁵Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

²⁶ Ond y mae'n rhaid i ni gael ein bwrw ar ryw ynys."

²⁶Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

²⁷ Daeth y bedwaredd nos ar ddeg, a ninnau'n dal i fynd gyda'r lli ar draws M�r Adria. Tua chanol nos, dechreuodd y morwyr dybio fod tir yn agos�u.

²⁷But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

²⁸ Wedi plymio, cawsant ddyfnder o ugain gwryd, ac ymhen ychydig, plymio eilwaith a chael pymtheg gwryd.

²⁸And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

²⁹ Gan fod arnynt ofn inni efallai gael ein bwrw ar leoedd creigiog, taflasant bedair angor o'r starn, a deisyf am iddi ddyddio.

²⁹Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

³⁰ Dechreuodd y morwyr geisio dianc o'r llong, a gollwng y bad i'r du373?r, dan esgus mynd i osod angorion o'r pen blaen.

³⁰And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

³¹ Ond dywedodd Paul wrth y canwriad a'r milwyr, "Os na fydd i'r rhain aros yn y llong, ni allwch chwi gael eich achub."

³¹Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

³² Yna fe dorrodd y milwyr raffau'r bad, a gadael iddo gwympo ymaith.

³²Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

³³ Pan oedd hi ar ddyddio, dechreuodd Paul annog pawb i gymryd bwyd, gan ddweud, "Heddiw yw'r pedwerydd dydd ar ddeg i chwi fod yn disgwyl yn bryderus, ac yn dal heb gymryd tamaid o ddim i'w fwyta.

³³And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

³⁴ Felly yr wyf yn eich annog i gymryd bwyd, oherwydd y mae eich gwaredigaeth yn dibynnu ar hynny; ni chollir blewyn oddi ar ben yr un ohonoch."

³⁴Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

³⁵ Wedi iddo ddweud hyn, cymerodd fara, a diolchodd i Dduw yng ngu373?ydd pawb, a'i dorri a dechrau bwyta.

³⁵And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

³⁶ Cododd pawb eu calon, a chymryd bwyd, hwythau hefyd.

³⁶Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

³⁷ Rhwng pawb yr oedd dau gant saith deg a chwech ohonom yn y llong.

³⁷And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

³⁸ Wedi iddynt gael digon o fwyd, dechreusant ysgafnhau'r llong trwy daflu'r u375?d allan i'r m�r.

³⁸And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

³⁹ Pan ddaeth hi'n ddydd, nid oeddent yn adnabod y tir, ond gwelsant gilfach ac iddi draeth, a phenderfynwyd gyrru'r llong i'r lan yno, os oedd modd.

³⁹And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

⁴⁰ Torasant yr angorion i ffwrdd, a'u gadael yn y m�r. Yr un pryd, datodwyd cyplau'r llywiau, a chodi'r hwyl flaen i'r awel, a chyfeirio tua'r traeth.

⁴⁰And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

⁴¹ Ond daliwyd hwy gan ddeufor�gyfarfod, a gyrasant y llong i dir. Glynodd y pen blaen, a sefyll yn ddiysgog, ond dechreuodd y starn ymddatod dan rym y tonnau.

⁴¹And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

⁴² Penderfynodd y milwyr ladd y carcharorion, rhag i neb ohonynt nofio i ffwrdd a dianc.

⁴²And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

⁴³ Ond gan fod y canwriad yn awyddus i achub Paul, rhwystrodd hwy rhag cyflawni eu bwriad, a gorchmynnodd i'r rhai a fedrai nofio neidio yn gyntaf oddi ar y llong, a chyrraedd y tir,

⁴³But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

⁴⁴ ac yna'r lleill, rhai ar ystyllod ac eraill ar ddarnau o'r llong. Ac felly y bu i bawb ddod yn ddiogel i dir.

⁴⁴And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
