1 Chronicles

20

1 Tua throad y flwyddyn, yr adeg y byddai'r brenhinoedd yn mynd i ryfela, arweiniodd Joab y fyddin allan a distrywio Ammon a gosod Rabba dan warchae; ond fe arhosodd Dafydd yn Jerwsalem. Trawodd Joab Rabba a'i dinistrio.
1And it cometh to pass, at the time of the turn of the year — at the time of the going out of the messengers — that Joab leadeth out the force of the host, and destroyeth the land of the sons of Ammon, and cometh in and beseigeth Rabbah — David is abiding in Jerusalem — and Joab smiteth Rabbah, and breaketh it down.
2 Yna cymerodd Dafydd goron eu brenin oddi ar ei ben a chael ei bod yn pwyso talent o aur, a bod gem gwerthfawr ynddi; fe'i rhoed ar ben Dafydd.
2And David taketh the crown of their king from off his head, and findeth it [in] weight a talent of gold, and in it a precious stone, and it is on the head of David: and spoil of the city he hath brought out very much,
3 Dygodd o'r ddinas lawer o ysbail, ac aeth 'r bobl oedd ynddi ymaith a'u gosod i lafurio llifiau a cheibiau heyrn a bwyeill. Gwnaeth Dafydd yr un modd holl drefi'r Ammoniaid, ac yna dychwelodd ef a'r holl fyddin i Jerwsalem.
3and the people who [are] in it he hath brought out, and setteth to the saw, and to cutting instruments of iron, and to axes; and thus doth David to all cities of the sons of Ammon, and David turneth back, and all the people, to Jerusalem.
4 Ar l hynny bu rhyfel yn erbyn y Philistiaid yn Geser. Y tro hwnnw lladdwyd Sippai, un o dylwyth y Reffaim, gan Sibbechai yr Husathiad.
4And it cometh to pass, after this, that there remaineth war in Gezer with the Philistines, then hath Sibbechai the Hushathite smitten Sippai, of the children of the giant, and they are humbled.
5 A bu rhyfel eilwaith yn erbyn y Philistiaid, a lladdwyd Lahmi, brawd Goliath o Gath, gan Elhanan fab Jair; yr oedd coes gwaywffon Goliath fel carfan gwehydd.
5And there is again war with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair smiteth Lahmi, brother of Goliath the Gittite, the wood of whose spear [is] like a beam of weavers.
6 Pan fu rhyfel eto yn Gath, yr oedd yno gawr o ddyn gyda chwech o fysedd ar bob llaw a throed, pedwar ar hugain i gyd; ac yr oedd yntau yn hanu o'r Reffaim.
6And there is again war in Gath, and there is a man of measure, and his fingers and his toes [are] six and six, twenty and four, and also, he hath been born to the giant.
7 Bwriodd sen ar Israel, ond lladdwyd ef gan Jonathan fab Simei, brawd Dafydd.
7And he reproacheth Israel, and smite him doth Jonathan son of Shimea, brother of David.
8 Yr oedd y rhain yn hanu o'r Reffaim yn Gath, a chwympasant trwy law Dafydd a'i weision.
8These were born to the giant in Gath, and they fall by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
