1 Yr wyf am i chwi wybod, fy nghyfeillion, i'n hynafiaid i gyd fod dan y cwmwl, iddynt i gyd fynd drwy'r m�r,
1And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,
2 iddynt i gyd gael eu bedyddio i Moses yn y cwmwl ac yn y m�r,
2and all to Moses were baptized in the cloud, and in the sea;
3 iddynt i gyd fwyta'r un bwyd ysbrydol
3and all the same spiritual food did eat,
4 ac yfed yr un ddiod ysbrydol; oherwydd yr oeddent yn yfed o'r graig ysbrydol oedd yn eu dilyn. A Christ oedd y graig honno.
4and all the same spiritual drink did drink, for they were drinking of a spiritual rock following them, and the rock was the Christ;
5 Eto nid oedd y rhan fwyaf ohonynt wrth fodd Duw; oherwydd fe'u gwasgarwyd hwy'n gyrff yn yr anialwch.
5but in the most of them God was not well pleased, for they were strewn in the wilderness,
6 Digwyddodd y pethau hyn yn esiamplau i ni, i'n rhybuddio rhag chwenychu pethau drwg, fel y gwnaethant hwy.
6and those things became types of us, for our not passionately desiring evil things, as also these did desire.
7 Peidiwch � bod yn eilunaddolwyr, fel rhai ohonynt hwy; fel y mae'n ysgrifenedig, "Eisteddodd y bobl i fwyta ac yfed, a chodi i gyfeddach."
7Neither become ye idolaters, as certain of them, as it hath been written, `The people sat down to eat and to drink, and stood up to play;`
8 Peidiwn chwaith � chyflawni anfoesoldeb rhywiol, fel y gwnaeth rhai ohonynt hwy � a syrthiodd tair mil ar hugain mewn un diwrnod.
8neither may we commit whoredom, as certain of them did commit whoredom, and there fell in one day twenty-three thousand;
9 Peidiwn � gosod Crist ar ei brawf, fel y gwnaeth rhai ohonynt hwy � ac fe'u difethwyd gan seirff.
9neither may we tempt the Christ, as also certain of them did tempt, and by the serpents did perish;
10 Peidiwch � grwgnach, fel y gwnaeth rhai ohonynt hwy � ac fe'u difethwyd gan y Dinistrydd.
10neither murmur ye, as also some of them did murmur, and did perish by the destroyer.
11 Yn awr, digwyddodd y pethau hyn iddynt hwy fel esiamplau, ac fe'u hysgrifennwyd fel rhybudd i ni, rhai y daeth terfyn yr oesoedd arnom.
11And all these things as types did happen to those persons, and they were written for our admonition, to whom the end of the ages did come,
12 Felly, bydded i'r sawl sy'n tybio ei fod yn sefyll, wylio rhag iddo syrthio.
12so that he who is thinking to stand — let him observe, lest he fall.
13 Nid oes un prawf wedi dod ar eich gwarthaf nad yw'n gyffredin i bawb. Y mae Duw'n ffyddlon, ac ni fydd ef yn gadael ichwi gael eich profi y tu hwnt i'ch gallu; yn wir, gyda'r prawf, fe rydd ef ddihangfa hefyd, a'ch galluogi i ymgynnal dano.
13No temptation hath taken you — except human; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able, but He will make, with the temptation, also the outlet, for your being able to bear [it].
14 Felly, fy nghyfeillion annwyl, ffowch oddi wrth eilunaddoliaeth.
14Wherefore, my beloved, flee from the idolatry;
15 Yr wyf yn siarad � chwi fel pobl synhwyrol; barnwch chwi'r hyn yr wyf yn ei ddweud.
15as to wise men I speak — judge ye what I say:
16 Cwpan y fendith yr ydym yn ei fendithio, onid cyfranogiad o waed Crist ydyw? A'r bara yr ydym yn ei dorri, onid cyfranogiad o gorff Crist ydyw?
16The cup of the blessing that we bless — is it not the fellowship of the blood of the Christ? the bread that we break — is it not the fellowship of the body of the Christ?
17 Gan mai un yw'r bara, yr ydym ni, a ninnau'n llawer, yn un corff, oherwydd yr ydym i gyd yn cyfranogi o'r un bara.
17because one bread, one body, are we the many — for we all of the one bread do partake.
18 Edrychwch ar yr Israel hanesyddol. Onid yw'r rhai sy'n bwyta'r ebyrth yn gyfranogion o'r allor?
18See Israel according to the flesh! are not those eating the sacrifices in the fellowship of the altar?
19 Beth, felly, yr wyf yn ei ddweud? Bod bwyd sydd wedi ei aberthu i eilunod yn rhywbeth? Neu fod eilun yn rhywbeth?
19what then do I say? that an idol is anything? or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything? —
20 Nage, ond mai i gythreuliaid, ac nid i Dduw, y maent yn aberthu eu hebyrth, ac na fynnwn i chwi fod yn gyfranogion o gythreuliaid.
20[no,] but that the things that the nations sacrifice — they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons.
21 Ni allwch yfed cwpan yr Arglwydd a chwpan cythreuliaid; ni allwch gyfranogi o fwrdd yr Arglwydd ac o fwrdd cythreuliaid.
21Ye are not able the cup of the Lord to drink, and the cup of demons; ye are not able of the table of the Lord to partake, and of the table of demons;
22 A ydym yn mynnu cyffroi eiddigedd yr Arglwydd? A ydym yn gryfach nag ef?
22do we arouse the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than He?
23 "Y mae popeth yn gyfreithlon," meddwch; ond nid yw popeth er lles. "Y mae popeth yn gyfreithlon," meddwch; ond nid yw popeth yn adeiladu.
23All things to me are lawful, but all things are not profitable; all things to me are lawful, but all things do not build up;
24 Peidied neb � cheisio'i les ei hun, ond lles ei gymydog.
24let no one seek his own — but each another`s.
25 Bwytewch bopeth a werthir yn y farchnad gig, heb holi'n fanwl yn ei gylch ar dir cydwybod.
25Whatever in the meat-market is sold eat ye, not inquiring, because of the conscience,
26 Oherwydd eiddo'r Arglwydd yw'r ddaear a'i llawnder.
26for the Lord`s [is] the earth, and its fulness;
27 Os cewch wahoddiad gan anghredadun, ac os oes awydd arnoch fynd, bwytewch bopeth a osodir ger eich bron, heb holi'n fanwl yn ei gylch ar dir cydwybod.
27and if any one of the unbelieving do call you, and ye wish to go, all that is set before you eat, nothing inquiring, because of the conscience;
28 Ond os dywed rhywun wrthych, "Peth wedi ei offrymu yn aberth yw hwn", peidiwch �'i fwyta, er mwyn y sawl a alwodd eich sylw at y peth, ac er mwyn cydwybod;
28and if any one may say to you, `This is a thing sacrificed to an idol,` — do not eat, because of that one who shewed [it], and of the conscience, for the Lord`s [is] the earth and its fulness:
29 nid eich cydwybod chwi yr wyf yn ei olygu, ond cydwybod y llall. Pam, yn wir, y mae fy rhyddid i yn cael ei farnu gan gydwybod rhywun arall?
29and conscience, I say, not of thyself, but of the other, for why [is it] that my liberty is judged by another`s conscience?
30 Os wyf fi'n cymryd fy mwyd � diolch, pam y ceir bai arnaf ar gyfrif bwyd yr wyf yn diolch i Dduw amdano?
30and if I thankfully do partake, why am I evil spoken of, for that for which I give thanks?
31 Felly, beth bynnag a wnewch, prun ai bwyta, neu yfed, neu unrhyw beth arall, gwnewch bopeth er gogoniant Duw.
31Whether, then, ye eat, or drink, or do anything, do all to the glory of God;
32 Peidiwch � bod yn achos tramgwydd i'r Iddewon na'r Groegiaid, nac i eglwys Dduw.
32become offenceless, both to Jews and Greeks, and to the assembly of God;
33 Byddwch yn debyg i'r hyn wyf fi; yr wyf fi'n ceisio boddhau pawb ym mhob peth, heb geisio fy lles fy hun, ond lles y lliaws, iddynt gael eu hachub.
33as I also in all things do please all, not seeking my own profit, but that of many — that they may be saved.
