1 Ynglu375?n � bwyd sydd wedi ei aberthu i eilunod, y mae'n wir, fel y dywedwch, "fod gennym i gyd wybodaeth." Y mae "gwybodaeth" yn peri i rywun ymchwyddo, ond y mae cariad yn adeiladu.
1And concerning the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that we all have knowledge: knowledge puffeth up, but love buildeth up;
2 Os oes rhywun yn tybio iddo ddod i wybod rhywbeth, nid yw eto'n gwybod fel y dylai wybod.
2and if any one doth think to know anything, he hath not yet known anything according as it behoveth [him] to know;
3 Os oes rhywun yn caru Duw, y mae wedi ei adnabod gan Dduw.
3and if any one doth love God, this one hath been known by Him.
4 Felly, ynglu375?n � bwyta'r hyn sydd wedi ei aberthu i eilunod, gwyddom nad oes "dim eilun yn y cyfanfyd", ac nad oes "dim Duw ond un."
4Concerning the eating then of the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that an idol [is] nothing in the world, and that there is no other God except one;
5 Oherwydd hyd yn oed os oes rhai a elwir yn dduwiau, naill ai yn y nef neu ar y ddaear � fel yn wir y mae "duwiau" lawer ac "arglwyddi" lawer �
5for even if there are those called gods, whether in heaven, whether upon earth — as there are gods many and lords many —
6 eto, i ni, un Duw sydd � y Tad, ffynhonnell pob peth, a diben ein bod; ac un Arglwydd Iesu Grist � cyfrwng pob peth, a chyfrwng ein bywyd ni.
6yet to us [is] one God, the Father, of whom [are] the all things, and we to Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom [are] the all things, and we through Him;
7 Ond nid yw'r wybodaeth hon gan bawb. Y mae rhai, oherwydd eu bod hyd yma wedi arfer ag eilunod, yn dal i fwyta'r bwyd fel peth wedi ei aberthu i eilunod; ac y mae eu cydwybod, gan ei bod yn wan, yn cael ei llygru.
7but not in all men [is] the knowledge, and certain with conscience of the idol, till now, as a thing sacrificed to an idol do eat [it], and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8 Nid bwyd sy'n mynd i'n cymeradwyo ni i Dduw. Nid ydym ar ein colled o beidio � bwyta, nac ar ein hennill o fwyta.
8But victuals do not commend us to God, for neither if we may eat are we in advance; nor if we may not eat, are we behind;
9 Ond gwyliwch rhag i'r hawl yma sydd gennych fod yn achos cwymp mewn unrhyw fodd i'r rhai gwan.
9but see, lest this privilege of yours may become a stumbling-block to the infirm,
10 Oherwydd os bydd i rywun dy weld di, sy'n meddu ar "wybodaeth", yn bwyta mewn teml eilunod, oni chadarnheir ei gydwybod, ac yntau'n wan, i fwyta pethau wedi eu haberthu i eilunod?
10for if any one may see thee that hast knowledge in an idol`s temple reclining at meat — shall not his conscience — he being infirm — be emboldened to eat the things sacrificed to idols,
11 Felly, trwy dy "wybodaeth" di, fe ddinistrir yr un gwan, dy gydgredadun y bu Crist farw drosto.
11and the brother who is infirm shall perish by thy knowledge, because of whom Christ died?
12 Wrth bechu fel hyn yn erbyn eich cydgredinwyr, a chlwyfo'u cydwybod, a hithau'n wan, yr ydych yn pechu yn erbyn Crist.
12and thus sinning in regard to the brethren, and smiting their weak conscience — in regard to Christ ye sin;
13 Am hynny, os yw bwyd yn achos cwymp i'm cydgredadun, ni fwyt�f fi gig byth, rhag i mi achosi cwymp i'm cydgredadun.
13wherefore, if victuals cause my brother to stumble, I may eat no flesh — to the age — that my brother I may not cause to stumble.
