Young`s Literal Translation

1 Samuel

21

1 Aeth Dafydd i Nob at yr offeiriad Ahimelech. Daeth yntau i'w gyfarfod dan grynu, a gofyn iddo, "Pam yr wyt ti ar dy ben dy hun, heb neb gyda thi?"
1And David cometh in to Nob, unto Ahimelech the priest, and Ahimelech trembleth at meeting David, and saith to him, `Wherefore [art] thou thyself alone, and no man with thee?`
2 Ac meddai Dafydd wrth yr offeiriad Ahimelech, "Y brenin sydd wedi rhoi gorchymyn imi, a dweud wrthyf, 'Nid yw neb i wybod dim pam yr anfonais di, na beth a orchmynnais iti.' Ac yr wyf wedi rhoi cyfarwyddyd i'r milwyr ifainc i'm cyfarfod yn y fan a'r fan.
2And David saith to Ahimelech the priest, `The king hath commanded me a matter, and he saith unto me, Let no man know anything of the matter about which I am sending thee, and which I have commanded thee; and the young men I have caused to know at such and such a place;
3 Yn awr, beth sydd gennyt wrth law? Gad imi gael pum torth, neu'r hyn sydd gennyt."
3and now, what is there under thy hand? five loaves give into my hand, or that which is found.`
4 Atebodd yr offeiriad, "Nid oes gennyf ddim bara cyffredin wrth law; ond y mae yma fara cysegredig os yw'r milwyr wedi ymgadw'n llwyr oddi wrth wragedd."
4And the priest answereth David, and saith, `There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if the youths have been kept only from women.`
5 Atebodd Dafydd, "Yn wir y mae'n hen arfer gennym ymgadw oddi wrth wragedd pan fyddaf yn cychwyn ar ymgyrch, fel bod arfau'r milwyr yn gysegredig; ac os yw felly ar siwrnai gyffredin, pa faint mwy y bydd yr arfau'n gysegredig heddiw?"
5And David answereth the priest, and saith to him, `Surely, if women have been restrained from us as heretofore in my going out, then the vessels of the young men are holy, and it [is] a common way: and also, surely to-day it is sanctified in the vessel.`
6 Yna fe roddodd yr offeiriad iddo'r bara cysegredig, gan nad oedd yno ddim ond y bara gosod oedd wedi ei symud o bresenoldeb yr ARGLWYDD, er mwyn gosod bara ffres ar ddiwrnod y cyfnewid.
6And the priest giveth to him the holy thing, for there was no bread there except the bread of the Presence which is turned aside from the presence of Jehovah to put hot bread in the day of its being taken away.
7 Ar y pryd, yr oedd un o weision Saul yno dan adduned gerbron yr ARGLWYDD; ei enw oedd Doeg yr Edomiad, ac ef oedd penbugail Saul.
7And there [is] a man of the servants of Saul on that day detained before Jehovah, and his name [is] Doeg the Edomite, chief of the shepherds whom Saul hath.
8 Gofynnodd Dafydd i Ahimelech, "Onid oes yma waywffon neu gleddyf wrth law gennyt? Oherwydd ni ddeuthum 'm cleddyf na'm harfau gyda mi, am fod cymaint brys gyda gorchymyn y brenin."
8And David saith to Ahimelech, `And is there not here under thy hand spear or sword? for neither my sword nor my vessels have I taken in my hand, for the matter of the king was urgent.`
9 Atebodd yr offeiriad, "Beth am gleddyf Goliath y Philistiad, y dyn a leddaist yn nyffryn Ela? Y mae hwnnw yma wedi ei lapio mewn brethyn y tu l i'r effod. Os wyt ti am hwnnw, cymer ef, oherwydd nid oes yma yr un arall ond hwnnw."
9And the priest saith, `The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou didst smite in the valley of Elah, lo, it is wrapt in a garment behind the ephod, if it thou dost take to thyself, take; for there is none other save it in this [place].` And David saith, `There is none like it — give it to me.`
10 Ac meddai Dafydd, "Nid oes debyg iddo; rho ef imi." Y diwrnod hwnnw ymadawodd Dafydd, ac er mwyn ffoi oddi wrth Saul, aeth at Achis brenin Gath.
10And David riseth and fleeth on that day from the face of Saul, and cometh in unto Achish king of Gath;
11 Gofynnodd gweision Achis iddo, "Onid hwn yw Dafydd, brenin y wlad? Onid am hwn y maent yn canu wrth ddawnsio, 'Lladdodd Saul ei filoedd, a Dafydd ei fyrddiynau'?"
11and the servants of Achish say unto him, `Is not this David king of the land? is it not of this one they sing in dances, saying, `Saul smote among his thousands, and David among his myriads?`
12 Cymerodd Dafydd y geiriau hyn at ei galon, ac ofnodd rhag Achis brenin Gath.
12And David layeth these words in his heart, and is exceedingly afraid of the face of Achish king of Gath,
13 Newidiodd ei ymddygiad o'u blaen, a dechrau ymddwyn fel ynfytyn yn eu mysg, a chripio drysau'r porth, a glafoerio hyd ei farf.
13and changeth his behaviour before their eyes, and feigneth himself mad in their hand, and scribbleth on the doors of the gate, and letteth down his spittle unto his beard.
14 Ac meddai Achis wrth ei weision, "Gallwch weld bod y dyn yn wallgof; pam y daethoch ag ef ataf fi?
14And Achish saith unto his servants, `Lo, ye see a man acting as a madman; why do ye bring him in unto me?
15 A wyf yn brin o ynfydion, fel eich bod yn dod hwn o'm blaen i ynfydu? A ddaw hwn i'm tu375??"
15A lack of madmen [have] I, that ye have brought in this one to act as a madman by me! doth this one come in unto my house?`
