1 Pan gyrhaeddodd Dafydd a'i filwyr yn l i Siclag ymhen tridiau, yr oedd yr Amaleciaid wedi gwneud cyrch ar y Negef ac ar Siclag, ac wedi ymosod ar Siclag a'i llosgi.
1And it cometh to pass, in the coming in of David and his men to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites have pushed unto the south, and unto Ziklag, and smite Ziklag, and burn it with fire,
2 Yr oeddent wedi cymryd yn gaeth y gwragedd oedd yno, yn ifanc a hen; nid oeddent wedi lladd neb, ond mynd hwy i'w canlyn wrth ymadael.
2and they take captive the women who [are] in it; from small unto great they have not put any one to death, and they lead away, and go on their way.
3 Pan gyrhaeddodd Dafydd a'i ddynion, yr oedd y dref wedi ei llosgi thn, a'u gwragedd, eu meibion a'u merched wedi mynd i gaethiwed.
3And David cometh in — and his men — unto the city, and lo, burnt with fire, and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters have been taken captive!
4 Torrodd Dafydd a'i ddynion allan i wylo'n uchel, nes eu bod yn rhy wan i wylo rhagor.
4And David lifteth up — and the people who [are] with him — their voice and weep, till that they have no power to weep.
5 Yr oedd dwy wraig Dafydd wedi eu caethgludo, sef Ahinoam o Jesreel ac Abigail o Garmel, gwraig Nabal.
5And the two wives of David have been taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelite;
6 Aeth yn gyfyng iawn ar Ddafydd, oherwydd bod y bobl yn bygwth ei labyddio am fod ysbryd pob un o'r bobl yn chwerw o achos ei feibion a'i ferched ei hun; ond cafodd Dafydd nerth gan yr ARGLWYDD ei Dduw.
6and David hath great distress, for the people have said to stone him, for the soul of all the people hath been bitter, each for his sons and for his daughters; and David doth strengthen himself in Jehovah his God.
7 Dywedodd Dafydd wrth yr offeiriad Abiathar fab Ahimelech, "Tyrd 'r effod yma i mi." Wedi i Abiathar ddod 'r effod at Ddafydd,
7And David saith unto Abiathar the priest, son of Ahimelech, `Bring nigh, I pray thee, to me the ephod;` and Abiathar bringeth nigh the ephod unto David,
8 ymofynnodd Dafydd 'r ARGLWYDD, a gofyn, "Os af ar l y fintai hon, a ddaliaf hwy?" Atebodd ef, "Dos ar eu hl; yr wyt yn sicr o'u dal a sicrhau gwaredigaeth."
8and David asketh at Jehovah, saying, `I pursue after this troop — do I overtake it?` And He saith to him, `Pursue, for thou dost certainly overtake, and dost certainly deliver.`
9 Cychwynnodd Dafydd a'r chwe chant o filwyr oedd gydag ef, a dod i nant Besor, lle'r arhosodd rhai.
9And David goeth on, he and six hundred men who [are] with him, and they come in unto the brook of Besor, and those left have stood still,
10 Aeth Dafydd a phedwar cant ohonynt yn eu blaen, ond arhosodd dau gant ar l am eu bod yn rhy flinedig i groesi nant Besor.
10and David pursueth, he and four hundred men, (and two hundred men stand still who have been too faint to pass over the brook of Besor),
11 Daethant ar draws rhyw Eifftiwr allan yn y wlad, ac wedi dod ag ef at Ddafydd, rhoesant iddo fwyd i'w fwyta a du373?r i'w yfed.
11and they find a man, an Egyptian, in the field, and take him unto David, and give to him bread, and he eateth, and they cause him to drink water,
12 Wedi iddynt roi iddo deisen ffigys a dau swp o rawnwin i'w bwyta, daeth ato'i hun, oherwydd nid oedd wedi bwyta tamaid nac yfed diferyn ers tri diwrnod a thair noson.
12and give to him a piece of a bunch of dried figs, and two bunches of raisins, and he eateth, and his spirit returneth unto him, for he hath not eaten bread nor drunk water three days and three nights.
13 Gofynnodd Dafydd iddo, "I bwy yr wyt ti'n perthyn, ac o ble'r wyt ti'n dod?" Atebodd, "Llanc o'r Aifft wyf fi, caethwas i Amaleciad; ond gadawodd fy meistr fi ar l am fy mod wedi mynd yn glaf dridiau'n l,
13And David saith to him, `Whose [art] thou? and whence [art] thou?` And he saith, `An Egyptian youth I [am], servant to a man, an Amalekite, and my lord forsaketh me, for I have been sick three days,
14 pan oeddem wedi gwneud cyrch yn erbyn Negef y Cerethiaid a'r Jwdeaid, a Negef Caleb, a rhoi Siclag ar dn."
14we pushed [to] the south of the Cherethite, and against that which [is] to Judah, and against the south of Caleb, and Ziklag we burned with fire.`
15 Yna gofynnodd Dafydd iddo, "A ei di mi at y fintai hon?" Ac meddai yntau, "Tynga imi yn enw Duw na wnei di fy lladd na'm rhoi yng ngafael fy meistr, ac mi af thi at y fintai hon."
15And David saith unto him, `Dost thou bring me down unto this troop?` and he saith, `Swear to me by God — thou dost not put me to death, nor dost thou shut me up into the hand of my lord — and I bring thee down unto this troop.`
16 Aeth hwy, a dyna lle'r oeddent, ar wasgar dros wyneb yr holl dir, yn bwyta, yn yfed ac yn dawnsio o achos yr holl ysbail fawr a gymerwyd ganddynt o wlad y Philistiaid ac o Jwda.
16And he bringeth him down, and lo, they are spread out over the face of all the earth, eating, and drinking, and feasting, with all the great spoil which they have taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
17 Trawodd Dafydd hwy o'r cyfnos hyd nos drannoeth, heb i neb ohonynt ddianc, ar wahn i bedwar cant o lanciau a ffodd ar gefn camelod.
17And David smiteth them from the twilight even unto the evening of the morrow, and there hath not escaped of them a man, except four hundred young men who have ridden on the camels, and are fled.
18 Achubodd Dafydd y cwbl yr oedd yr Amaleciaid wedi ei gymryd, ac achub ei ddwy wraig hefyd.
18And David delivereth all that the Amalekites have taken; also his two wives hath David delivered.
19 Nid oedd yr un ohonynt ar goll, o'r hynaf i'r ieuengaf, na bechgyn na genethod, nac ychwaith ddim o'r ysbail a gymerwyd gan yr Amaleciaid; cafodd Dafydd y cwbl yn l.
19And there hath not lacked to them [anything], from small unto great, and unto sons and daughters, and from the spoil, even unto all that they had taken to themselves, the whole hath David brought back,
20 Wedi i Ddafydd adennill yr holl ddefaid ac ychen, gyrasant rai o flaen y lleill a dweud, "Ysbail Dafydd yw hyn."
20and David taketh the whole of the flock, and of the herd, they have led on before these cattle, and they say, `This [is] David`s spoil.`
21 Daeth Dafydd at y ddau gant o ddynion oedd yn rhy flinedig i'w ganlyn, ac a oedd wedi eu gadael wrth nant Besor. Daethant hwythau allan i gyfarfod Dafydd a'r bobl oedd gydag ef; a phan ddaeth Dafydd yn ddigon agos, cyfarchodd hwy.
21And David cometh in unto the two hundred men who were too faint to go after David, and whom they cause to abide at the brook of Besor, and they go out to meet David, and to meet the people who [are] with him, and David approacheth the people, and asketh of them of welfare.
22 Ond dyma'r dynion drwg a'r dihirod oedd ymysg y dynion a aeth gyda Dafydd yn dweud, "Gan na ddaethant hwy gyda ni, ni rown iddynt ddim o'r ysbail a achubwyd gennym; yn unig fe gaiff pob un gymryd ei wraig a'i blant a mynd ymaith."
22And every bad and worthless man, of the men who have gone with David, answereth, yea, they say, `Because that they have not gone with us we do not give to them of the spoil which we have delivered, except each his wife and his children, and they lead away and go.
23 Ond dywedodd Dafydd, "Gymrodyr, nid felly y gwnewch 'r hyn a roddodd yr ARGLWYDD i ni; fe'n cadwodd ni, a rhoi'r fintai a ymosododd arnom yn ein gafael.
23And David saith, `Ye do not do so, my brethren, with that which Jehovah hath given to us, and He doth preserve us, and doth give the troop which cometh against us into our hand;
24 Pwy a fyddai'n cytuno chwi yn hyn o beth? Na, yr un fydd rhan y sawl sy'n mynd i'r frwydr rhan y sawl sy'n aros gyda'r offer; y maent i rannu ar y cyd."
24and who doth hearken to you in this thing? for as the portion of him who was brought down into battle, so also [is] the portion of him who is abiding by the vessels — alike they share.`
25 Ac felly y bu, o'r diwrnod hwnnw ymlaen; a daeth hyn yn rheol ac yn arfer yn Israel hyd heddiw.
25And it cometh to pass from that day and forward, that he appointeth it for a statute and for an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
26 Wedi i Ddafydd ddychwelyd i Siclag, anfonodd beth o'r ysbail i henuriaid Jwda ac i'w gyfeillion, a dweud, "Dyma rodd i chwi o ysbail gelynion yr ARGLWYDD."
26And David cometh in unto Ziklag, and sendeth of the spoil to the elders of Judah, to his friends, (saying, `Lo, for you a blessing, of the spoil of the enemies of Jehovah),`
27 Fe'i hanfonwyd i'r rhai oedd ym Methel, Ramoth-negef, Jattir,
27to those in Beth-El, and to those in South Ramoth, and to those in Jattir,
28 Aroer, Siffmoth, Estemoa,
28and to those in Aroer, and to those in Siphmoth, and to those in Eshtemoa,
29 Rachal, trefi'r Jerahmeeliaid a'r Ceneaid,
29and to those in Rachal, and to those in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to those in the cities of the Kenites,
30 Horma, Borasan, Athac,
30and to those in Hormah, and to those in Chor-Ashan, and to those in Athach,
31 Hebron, a'r holl fannau y byddai Dafydd a'i filwyr yn eu mynychu.
31and to those in Hebron, and to all the places where David had gone up and down, he and his men.
