2 Kings

14

1 Yn ail flwyddyn Joas fab Jehoahas brenin Israel, daeth Amaseia fab Jehoas yn frenin ar Jwda.
1In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned hath Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah;
2 Pump ar hugain oedd ei oed pan ddaeth yn frenin, a theyrnasodd am naw mlynedd ar hugain yn Jerwsalem. Jehoadan o Jerwsalem oedd enw ei fam.
2a son of twenty and five years was he in his reigning, and twenty and nine years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem,
3 Gwnaeth yr hyn oedd uniawn yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD, er nad fel ei dad Dafydd; gwnaeth yn union fel ei dad Jehoas.
3and he doth that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, only not like David his father, according to all that Joash his father did he hath done,
4 Er hynny ni thynnwyd ymaith yr uchelfeydd; yr oedd y bobl yn parhau i aberthu ac arogldarthu ynddynt.
4only, the high places have not turned aside — yet are the people sacrificing and making perfume in high places.
5 Wedi iddo sicrhau ei afael ar y deyrnas, lladdodd y gweision oedd wedi lladd y brenin ei dad,
5And it cometh to pass, when the kingdom hath been strong in his hand, that he smiteth his servants, those smiting the king his father,
6 ond ni roddodd blant y lleiddiaid i farwolaeth, yn unol 'r hyn sy'n ysgrifenedig yn llyfr cyfraith Moses, lle mae'r ARGLWYDD yn gorchymyn, "Na rodder rhieni i farwolaeth o achos eu plant, na phlant o achos eu rhieni; am ei bechod ei hun y rhoddir un i farwolaeth."
6and the sons of those smiting [him] he hath not put to death, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses that Jehovah commanded, saying, `Fathers are not put to death for sons, and sons are not put to death for fathers, but each for his own sin is put to death.`
7 Trawodd Amaseia ddeng mil o filwyr Edom yn Nyffryn yr Halen, a chymryd Sela mewn brwydr a'i enwi'n Joctheel hyd heddiw.
7He hath smitten Edom, in the valley of salt — ten thousand, and seized Selah in war, and [one] calleth its name Joktheel unto this day,
8 Yna anfonodd genhadau at Joas fab Jehoahas, fab Jehu, brenin Israel, a dweud, "Tyrd, gad inni ddod wyneb yn wyneb."
8then hath Amaziah sent messengers unto Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, `Come, we look one another in the face.`
9 Anfonodd Joas brenin Israel yn l at Amaseia brenin Jwda, a dweud, "Gyrrodd ysgellyn oedd yn Lebanon at gedrwydden Lebanon yn dweud, 'Rho dy ferch yn wraig i'm mab.' Ond daeth rhyw fwystfil oedd yn Lebanon heibio a mathru'r ysgellyn.
9And Jehoash king of Israel sendeth unto Amaziah king of Judah, saying, `The thorn that [is] in Lebanon hath sent unto the cedar that [is] in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife; and pass by doth a beast of the field that [is] in Lebanon, and treadeth down the thorn.
10 Gorchfygaist Edom ac aethost yn ffroenuchel. Mwynha d'ogoniant, ac aros gartref; pam y codi helynt, ac yna cwympo a thynnu Jwda i lawr i'th ganlyn?"
10Thou hast certainly smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up; be honoured, and abide in thy house; and why dost thou stir thyself up in evil, that thou hast fallen, thou, and Judah with thee?`
11 Ond ni fynnai Amaseia wrando; felly daeth Joas brenin Israel ac Amaseia brenin Jwda wyneb yn wyneb ger Beth-semes yn Jwda.
11And Amaziah hath not hearkened, and go up doth Jehoash king of Israel, and they look one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, in Beth-Shemesh, that [is] Judah`s,
12 Gorchfygwyd Jwda gan Israel, a ffodd pawb adref.
12and Judah is smitten before Israel, and they flee each to his tent.
13 Wedi i Joas brenin Israel ddal Amaseia fab Jehoas, fab Ahaseia, brenin Jwda, yn Beth-semes, aeth yn ei flaen i Jerwsalem a thorri i lawr fur Jerwsalem o borth Effraim hyd borth y gongl, sef pedwar can cufydd.
13And Amaziah king of Judah, son of Jehoash son of Ahaziah, caught hath Jehoash king of Israel in Beth-Shemesh, and they come in to Jerusalem, and he bursteth through the wall of Jerusalem, at the gate of Ephraim unto the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits,
14 Hefyd aeth 'r holl aur, arian a chelfi a gafwyd yn y deml ac yng nghoffrau'r palas; yna cymerodd wystlon, a dychwelodd i Samaria.
14and hath taken all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that are found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the house of the king, and the sons of the pledges, and turneth back to Samaria.
15 Am weddill hanes Joas, a'i wrhydri a'i frwydr yn erbyn Amaseia brenin Jwda, onid yw wedi ei ysgrifennu yn llyfr hanesion brenhinoedd Israel?
15And the rest of the matters of Jehoash that he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16 Bu farw Joas, a chladdwyd ef yn Samaria gyda brenhinoedd Israel, a daeth ei fab Jeroboam yn frenin yn ei le.
16And Jehoash lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel, and reign doth Jeroboam his son in his stead.
17 Bu Amaseia fab Jehoas, brenin Jwda, fyw am bymtheng mlynedd wedi i Jehoas fab Jehoahas, brenin Israel, farw.
17And Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah liveth after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years,
18 Am weddill hanes Amaseia, onid yw wedi ei ysgrifennu yn llyfr hanesion brenhinoedd Jwda?
18and the rest of the matters of Amaziah are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19 Pan gynlluniwyd brad yn ei erbyn yn Jerwsalem, ffodd i Lachis, ond anfonwyd ar ei l i Lachis a'i ladd yno,
19And they make a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fleeth to Lachish, and they send after him to Lachish, and put him to death there,
20 a chludwyd ef ar feirch i Jerwsalem, a'i gladdu gyda'i ragflaenwyr yn Ninas Dafydd.
20and lift him up on the horses, and he is buried in Jerusalem, with his fathers, in the city of David.
21 Yna cymerodd holl bobl Jwda Asareia, a oedd yn un ar bymtheg oed, a'i wneud yn frenin yn lle ei dad Amaseia.
21And all the people of Judah take Azariah, and he [is] a son of sixteen years, and cause him to reign instead of his father Amaziah;
22 Ef a ailadeiladodd Elath a'i hadfer i Jwda wedi i'r brenin orwedd gyda'i dadau.
22he hath built Elath, and bringeth it back to Judah, after the lying of the king with his fathers.
23 Yn y bymthegfed flwyddyn i Amaseia fab Jehoas brenin Jwda, daeth Jeroboam fab Jehoahas brenin Israel yn frenin yn Samaria am un mlynedd a deugain.
23In the fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah, reigned hath Jeroboam son of Joash king of Israel in Samaria — forty and one years,
24 Gwnaeth yr hyn oedd ddrwg yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD; ni throdd oddi wrth holl bechodau Jeroboam fab Nebat, a barodd i Israel bechu.
24and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin.
25 Adferodd oror Israel o Lebo-hamath hyd Fr yr Araba, yn unol 'r gair a lefarodd yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, drwy ei was Jona fab Amittai y proffwyd o Gath-heffer.
25He hath brought back the border of Israel, from the entering in of Hamath unto the sea of the desert, according to the word of Jehovah, God of Israel, that He spake by the hand of His servant Jonah son of Amittai the prophet, who [is] of Gath-Hepher,
26 Gwelodd yr ARGLWYDD fod cystudd Israel yn flin iawn i gaeth a rhydd fel ei gilydd, ac nid oedd neb i gynorthwyo Israel.
26for Jehovah hath seen the affliction of Israel — very bitter, and there is none restrained, and there is none left, and there is no helper to Israel;
27 Ond nid oedd yr ARGLWYDD wedi dweud y dileai enw Israel yn llwyr, a gwaredodd hwy drwy Jeroboam fab Jehoahas.
27and Jehovah hath not spoken to blot out the name of Israel from under the heavens, and saveth them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Joash.
28 Am weddill hanes Jeroboam, a'r cwbl a wnaeth, a'i wrhydri wrth ymladd ac wrth adfer Damascus a Hamath-iawdi i Israel, onid yw wedi ei ysgrif-ennu yn llyfr hanesion brenhinoedd Israel?
28And the rest of the matters of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought, and with which he brought back Damascus, and Hamath of Judah, into Israel, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29 Bu farw Jeroboam, a'i gladdu gyda brenhinoedd Israel, a daeth ei fab Sechareia yn frenin yn ei le.
29And Jeroboam lieth with his fathers, with the kings of Israel, and reign doth Zechariah his son in his stead.
