Esther

4

1 Pan glywodd Mordecai am bopeth a ddigwyddodd, rhwygodd ei ddillad a gwisgo sachliain a lludw, a mynd allan i ganol y ddinas a gweiddi'n groch a chwerw.
1And Mordecai hath known all that hath been done, and Mordecai rendeth his garments, and putteth on sackcloth and ashes, and goeth forth into the midst of the city and crieth — a cry loud and bitter,
2 Daeth i ymyl porth y brenin, oherwydd ni chi neb oedd yn gwisgo sachliain fynd i mewn i'r porth.
2and he cometh in unto the front of the gate of the king, but none is to come in unto the gate of the king with a sackcloth-garment.
3 Ym mhob talaith lle y cyrhaeddodd gair a gorchymyn y brenin, yr oedd galar mawr ymysg yr Iddewon, ac yr oeddent yn ymprydio, yn wylo ac yn llefain; a gorweddodd llawer ohonynt mewn sachliain a lludw.
3And in every province and province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, a great mourning have the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.
4 Pan ddaeth morynion ac eunuchiaid y Frenhines Esther a dweud wrthi, yr oedd yn ofidus iawn. Anfonodd ddillad i Mordecai eu gwisgo yn lle'r sachliain oedd amdano, ond gwrthododd ef hwy.
4And young women of Esther come in and her eunuchs, and declare [it] to her, and the queen is exceedingly pained, and sendeth garments to clothe Mordecai, and to turn aside his sackcloth from off him, and he hath not received [them].
5 Yna galwodd Esther ar Hathach, un o eunuchiaid y brenin a ddewiswyd i weini arni, a'i orchymyn i fynd at Mordecai, i gael gwybod beth oedd ystyr hyn a pham y digwyddodd.
5And Esther calleth to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he hath stationed before her, and giveth him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this [is], and wherefore this [is].
6 Aeth Hathach allan at Mordecai i sgwr y ddinas o flaen porth y brenin,
6And Hatach goeth out unto Mordecai, unto a broad place of the city, that [is] before the gate of the king,
7 a dywedodd Mordecai wrtho am y cwbl a ddigwyddodd iddo, ac am y swm o arian yr addawodd Haman ei dalu i drysorfa'r brenin er mwyn difa'r Iddewon.
7and Mordecai declareth to him all that hath met him, and the explanation of the money that Haman said to weigh to the treasuries of the king for the Jews, to destroy them,
8 Rhoddodd iddo hefyd gopi o'r wu375?s a gyhoeddwyd yn Susan, yn gorchymyn eu dinistrio, er mwyn iddo yntau ei dangos a'i hegluro i Esther, a dweud wrthi am fynd at y brenin i ymbil ag ef ac erfyn arno dros ei phobl.
8and the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he hath given to him, to shew Esther, and to declare [it] to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in unto the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.
9 Aeth Hathach a dweud wrth Esther yr hyn a ddywedodd Mordecai,
9And Hatach cometh in and declareth to Esther the words of Mordecai,
10 a rhoddodd hithau iddo'r neges hon i Mordecai,
10and Esther speaketh to Hatach, and chargeth him for Mordecai:
11 "Y mae holl weision y brenin a phobl ei daleithiau yn gwybod nad oes ond un ddedfryd yn aros unrhyw u373?r neu wraig sy'n mynd i'r cyntedd mewnol at y brenin heb wahoddiad, sef marwolaeth; ni chaiff fyw oni bai i'r brenin estyn ei deyrnwialen aur iddo. Nid wyf fi wedi fy ngalw at y brenin ers deg diwrnod ar hugain bellach."
11`All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, do know that any man and woman, who cometh in unto the king, unto the inner court, who is not called — one law [of] his [is] to put [them] to death, apart from him to whom the king holdeth out the golden sceptre, then he hath lived; and I — I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.`
12 Pan glywodd Mordecai neges Esther,
12And they declare to Mordecai the words of Esther,
13 dywedodd wrthynt am ei hateb fel hyn, "Paid meddwl y cei di yn unig o'r holl Iddewon dy arbed, am dy fod yn byw yn nhu375?'r brenin.
13and Mordecai speaketh to send back unto Esther: `Do not think in thy soul to be delivered [in] the house of the king, more than all the Jews,
14 Os byddi'n gwrthod siarad yn awr, daw ymwared a chymorth i'r Iddewon o le arall, ond byddi di a thu375? dy dad yn trengi. Pwy a u373?yr nad ar gyfer y fath amser hwn y daethost i'r frenhiniaeth?"
14but if thou keep entirely silent at this time, respite and deliverance remaineth to the Jews from another place, and thou and the house of thy fathers are destroyed; and who knoweth whether for a time like this thou hast come to the kingdom?`
15 Dywedodd Esther wrthynt am roi'r ateb hwn i Mordecai:
15And Esther speaketh to send back unto Mordecai:
16 "Dos i gasglu ynghyd yr holl Iddewon sy'n byw yn Susan, ac ymprydiwch drosof; peidiwch bwyta nac yfed, ddydd na nos, am dridiau, ac fe wnaf finnau a'm morynion yr un fath. Yna af at y brenin, er fy mod yn torri'r gyfraith; ac os trengaf, mi drengaf."
16`Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women do fast likewise, and so I go in unto the king, that [is] not according to law, and when I have perished — I have perished.`
17 Aeth Mordecai ymaith a gwneud popeth a orchmynnodd Esther iddo.
17And Mordecai passeth on, and doth according to all that Esther hath charged upon him.
