Judges

6

1 Gwnaeth yr Israeliaid yr hyn oedd ddrwg yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD, a rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD hwy yn llaw Midian am saith mlynedd.
1And the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of Midian seven years,
2 Am fod Midian yn drech nag Israel paratdd yr Israeliaid lochesau iddynt eu hunain yn y mynyddoedd, a hefyd ogofeydd a chaerau.
2and the hand of Midian is strong against Israel, from the presence of Midian have the sons of Israel made for themselves the flowings which [are] in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.
3 Bob tro y byddai'r Israeliaid wedi hau, byddai Midian ac Amalec a'r dwyreinwyr yn dod ac yn ymosod arnynt;
3And it hath been, if Israel hath sowed, that Midian hath come up, and Amalek, and the sons of the east, yea, they have come up against him,
4 byddent yn gwersyllu yn eu herbyn ac yn distrywio cnwd y ddaear cyn belled Gasa, heb adael unrhyw beth byw yn Israel, na dafad nac ych nac asyn.
4and encamp against them, and destroy the increase of the land till thine entering Gaza; and they leave no sustenance in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass;
5 Pan ddoent hwy a'u hanifeiliaid a'u pebyll, yr oeddent mor niferus locustiaid; nid oedd rhifo arnynt hwy na'u camelod pan ddoent i'r wlad i'w difrodi.
5for they and their cattle come up, with their tents; they come in as the fulness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their cattle there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it.
6 Felly aeth Israel yn dlawd iawn o achos Midian; yna galwodd yr Israeliaid ar yr ARGLWYDD.
6And Israel is very weak from the presence of Midian, and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah.
7 Wedi iddynt alw ar yr ARGLWYDD o achos Midian,
7And it cometh to pass when the sons of Israel have cried unto Jehovah, concerning Midian,
8 anfonodd yr ARGLWYDD broffwyd at yr Israeliaid, a dywedodd hwnnw wrthynt, "Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel: 'Myfi a ddaeth  chwi i fyny o'r Aifft, a'ch rhyddhau o du375?'r caethiwed;
8that Jehovah sendeth a man, a prophet, unto the sons of Israel, and he saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I — I have brought you up out of Egypt, and I bring you out from a house of servants,
9 achubais chwi o law'r Eifftiaid a phawb oedd yn eich gormesu, a'u gyrru allan o'ch blaen, a rhoi eu tir ichwi.
9and I deliver you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all your oppressors, and I cast them out from your presence, and I give to you their land,
10 Dywedais wrthych: Myfi yw'r ARGLWYDD, eich Duw; peidiwch ag ofni duwiau'r Amoriaid yr ydych yn byw yn eu gwlad. Ond ni wrandawsoch arnaf.'"
10and I say to you, I [am] Jehovah your God, ye do not fear the gods of the Amorite in whose land ye are dwelling: — and ye have not hearkened to My voice.`
11 Daeth angel yr ARGLWYDD ac eistedd dan y dderwen yn Offra, a oedd yn perthyn i Joas yr Abiesriad. Yr oedd ei fab, Gideon, yn dyrnu gwenith mewn gwinwryf, i'w guddio rhag Midian.
11And the messenger of Jehovah cometh and sitteth under the oak which [is] in Ophrah, which [is] to Joash the Abi-Ezrite, and Gideon his son is beating out wheat in the wine-press, to remove [it] from the presence of the Midianites;
12 Ymddangosodd angel yr ARGLWYDD iddo a dweud wrtho, "Y mae'r ARGLWYDD gyda thi, u373?r dewr."
12and the messenger of Jehovah appeareth unto him, and saith unto him, `Jehovah [is] with thee, O mighty one of valour.`
13 Ateb-odd Gideon ef, "Ond, syr, os yw'r ARGLWYDD gyda ni, pam y mae hyn i gyd wedi digwydd inni? A phle mae ei holl ryfeddodau y soniodd ein hynafiaid amdanynt, a dweud wrthym, 'Oni ddygodd yr ARGLWYDD ni i fyny o'r Aifft?'
13And Gideon saith unto him, `O, my lord — and Jehovah is with us! — and why hath all this found us? and where [are] all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Hath not Jehovah brought us up out of Egypt? and now Jehovah hath left us, and doth give us into the hand of Midian.`
14 Erbyn hyn y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi'n gadael, a'n rhoi yng ngafael Midian." Trodd angel yr ARGLWYDD ato a dweud, "Dos, gyda'r nerth hwn sydd gennyt, a gwared Israel o afael Midian; onid wyf fi yn dy anfon?"
14And Jehovah turneth unto him and saith, `Go in this — thy power; and thou hast saved Israel out of the hand of Midian — have not I sent thee.`
15 Atebodd yntau, "Ond, syr, sut y gwaredaf fi Israel? Edrych, fy nhylwyth i yw'r gwannaf yn Manasse, a minnau yw'r distatlaf o'm teulu."
15And he saith unto him, `O, my lord, wherewith do I save Israel? lo, my chief [is] weak in Manasseh, and I the least in the house of my father.`
16 Yna dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrtho, "Yn sicr byddaf fi gyda thi, a byddi'n taro'r Midianiaid fel pe baent un gu373?r."
16And Jehovah saith unto him, `Because I am with thee — thou hast smitten the Midianites as one man.`
17 Atebodd yntau, "Os cefais ffafr yn d'olwg, yna rho arwydd imi mai ti sy'n siarad mi.
17And he saith unto Him, `If, I pray Thee, I have found grace in Thine eyes, then Thou hast done for me a sign that Thou art speaking with me.
18 Paid mynd oddi yma cyn imi ddychwelyd atat a chyflwyno fy offrwm a'i osod o'th flaen." Atebodd yntau, "Fe arhosaf nes iti ddod yn l."
18Move not, I pray Thee, from this, till my coming in unto Thee, and I have brought out my present, and put it before Thee;` and he saith, `I — I do abide till thy return.`
19 Aeth Gideon a pharatoi myn gafr a phobi bara croyw o beilliaid. Gosododd y cig ar ddysgl a rhoi'r cawl mewn padell, a'u dwyn ato dan y dderwen, a'u cyflwyno.
19And Gideon hath gone in, and prepareth a kid of the goats, and of an ephah of flour unleavened things; the flesh he hath put in a basket, and the broth he hath put in a pot, and he bringeth out unto Him, unto the place of the oak, and bringeth [it] nigh.
20 Yna dywedodd angel Duw wrtho, "Cymer y cig a'r bara croyw a'u rhoi ar y graig acw, a thywallt y cawl." Gwnaeth hynny.
20And the messenger of God saith unto him, `Take the flesh and the unleavened things, and place on this rock — and the broth pour out;` and he doth so.
21 Estynnodd angel yr ARGLWYDD flaen y ffon oedd yn ei law, a phan gyffyrddodd 'r cig a'r bara croyw, cododd tn o'r graig a'u llosgi; a diflannodd angel yr ARGLWYDD o'i olwg.
21And the messenger of Jehovah putteth forth the end of the staff which [is] in His hand, and cometh against the flesh, and against the unleavened things, and the fire goeth up out of the rock and consumeth the flesh and the unleavened things — and the messenger of Jehovah hath gone from his eyes.
22 Yna fe sylweddolodd Gideon mai angel yr ARGLWYDD oedd, a dywedodd, "Gwae fi, f'Arglwydd DDUW, am imi weld angel yr ARGLWYDD wyneb yn wyneb."
22And Gideon seeth that He [is] a messenger of Jehovah, and Gideon saith, `Alas, Lord Jehovah! because that I have seen a messenger of Jehovah face to face!`
23 Ond dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrtho, "Heddwch iti; paid ag ofni, ni byddi farw."
23And Jehovah saith to him, `Peace to thee; fear not; thou dost not die.`
24 Adeiladodd Gideon allor i'r ARGLWYDD yno a'i henwi Jehofa-shalom. Y mae yn Offra Abieser hyd y dydd hwn.
24And Gideon buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and calleth it Jehovah-Shalom, unto this day it [is] yet in Ophrah of the Abi-Ezrites.
25 Y noson honno dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrtho, "Cymer ych o eiddo dy dad, yr ail ych, yr un seithmlwydd, a thyn i lawr yr allor i Baal sydd gan dy dad, a thor i lawr y pren Asera sydd yn ei hymyl.
25And it cometh to pass, on that night, that Jehovah saith to him, `Take the young ox which [is] to thy father, and the second bullock of seven years, and thou hast thrown down the altar of Baal which [is] to thy father, and the shrine which [is] by it thou dost cut down,
26 Adeilada allor briodol i'r ARGLWYDD dy Dduw ar ben y fangre hon; yna cymer yr ail ych a'i offrymu'n boethoffrwm ar goed yr Asera a dorraist i lawr."
26and thou hast built an altar to Jehovah thy God on the top of this stronghold, by the arrangement, and hast taken the second bullock, and caused to ascend a burnt-offering with the wood of the shrine which thou cuttest down.`
27 Cymerodd Gideon ddeg o'i weision a gwnaeth fel yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD wedi dweud wrtho, ond gan fod arno ofn gwneud hynny liw dydd oherwydd ei deulu a phobl y ddinas, fe'i gwnaeth liw nos.
27And Gideon taketh ten men of his servants, and doth as Jehovah hath spoken unto him, and it cometh to pass, because he hath been afraid of the house of his father, and the men of the city, to do [it] by day, that he doth [it] by night.
28 Pan gododd pobl y ddinas yn gynnar yn y bore a gweld allor Baal wedi ei bwrw i lawr a'r pren Asera oedd yn ei hymyl wedi ei thorri, a'r ail ych wedi ei offrymu ar yr allor oedd wedi ei chodi,
28And the men of the city rise early in the morning, and lo, broken down hath been the altar of Baal, and the shrine which is by it hath been cut down, and the second bullock hath been offered on the altar which is built.
29 yna gofynnodd pawb i'w gilydd, "Pwy a wnaeth hyn?" Ar l chwilio a holi, dywedasant, "Gideon fab Joas sydd wedi gwneud hyn."
29And they say one to another, `Who hath done this thing?` and they inquire and seek, and they say, `Gideon son of Joash hath done this thing.`
30 Yna dywedodd pobl y ddinas wrth Joas, "Tyrd 'th fab allan iddo gael marw, oherwydd y mae wedi bwrw i lawr allor Baal a thorri'r pren Asera oedd yn ei hymyl."
30And the men of the city say unto Joash, `Bring out thy son, and he dieth, because he hath broken down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the shrine which [is] by it.`
31 Ond meddai Joas wrth bawb oedd yn sefyll o'i gwmpas, "A ydych chwi am ddadlau achos Baal? A ydych chwi am ei achub ef? Rhoir pwy bynnag sy'n dadlau drosto i farwolaeth erbyn y bore. Os yw'n dduw, dadleued drosto'i hun am i rywun fwrw ei allor i lawr."
31And Joash saith to all who have stood against him, `Ye, do ye plead for Baal? ye — do ye save him? he who pleadeth for him is put to death during the morning; if he [is] a god he himself doth plead against him, because he hath broken down his altar.`
32 A'r diwrnod hwnnw galwyd Gideon yn Jerwbbaal hynny yw, "Bydded i Baal ddadlau ag ef" am iddo fwrw ei allor i lawr.
32And he calleth him, on that day, Jerubbaal, saying, `The Baal doth plead against him, because he hath broken down his altar.`
33 Daeth yr holl Midianiaid a'r Amaleciaid a'r dwyreinwyr ynghyd, a chroesi a gwersyllu yn nyffryn Jesreel.
33And all Midian and Amalek and the sons of the east have been gathered together, and pass over, and encamp in the valley of Jezreel,
34 Disgynnodd ysbryd yr ARGLWYDD ar Gideon; chwythodd yntau'r utgorn a galw ar yr Abiesriaid i'w ddilyn.
34and the Spirit of Jehovah hath clothed Gideon, and he bloweth with a trumpet, and Abi-Ezer is called after him;
35 Anfonodd negeswyr drwy Manasse gyfan a galw arnynt hwythau hefyd i'w ddilyn. Yna anfonodd negeswyr drwy Aser, Sabulon a Nafftali, a daethant hwythau i'w cyfarfod.
35and messengers he hath sent into all Manasseh, and it also is called after him; and messengers he hath sent into Asher, and into Zebulun, and into Naphtali, and they come up to meet them.
36 Dywedodd Gideon wrth Dduw, "Os wyt am waredu Israel drwy fy llaw i, fel yr addewaist,
36And Gideon saith unto God, `If Thou art Saviour of Israel by my hand, as Thou hast spoken,
37 dyma fi'n gosod cnu o wln ar y llawr dyrnu; os bydd gwlith ar y cnu yn unig, a'r llawr i gyd yn sych, yna byddaf yn gwybod y gwaredi Israel drwof fi, fel y dywedaist."
37lo, I am placing the fleece of wool in the threshing-floor: if dew is on the fleece alone, and on all the earth drought — then I have known that Thou dost save Israel by my hand, as Thou hast spoken;`
38 Felly y bu. Pan gododd fore trannoeth a hel y cnu at ei gilydd, gwasgodd ddigon o wlith ohono i lenwi ffiol 'r du373?r.
38and it is so, and he riseth early on the morrow, and presseth the fleece, and wringeth dew out of the fleece — the fulness of the bowl, of water.
39 Ond meddai Gideon wrth Dduw, "Paid digio wrthyf os gofynnaf un peth arall; yr wyf am wneud un prawf arall 'r cnu: bydded y cnu'n unig yn sych, a gwlith ar y llawr i gyd."
39And Gideon saith unto God, `Let not Thine anger burn against me, and I speak only this time; let me try, I pray Thee, only this time with the fleece — let there be, I pray Thee, drought on the fleece alone, and on all the earth let there be dew.`
40 Gwnaeth Duw hynny y noson honno, y cnu'n unig yn sych, a gwlith ar y llawr i gyd.
40And God doth so on that night, and there is drought on the fleece alone, and on all the earth there hath been dew.
