1 Yna, wedi i'r mur gael ei ailgodi, ac imi osod y dorau, ac i'r porthorion a'r cantorion a'r Lefiaid gael eu penodi,
1And it cometh to pass, when the wall hath been built, that I set up the doors, and the gatekeepers are appointed, and the singers, and the Levites,
2 rhoddais Jerwsalem yng ngofal Hanani fy mrawd a Hananeia arolygwr y palas, oherwydd yr oedd ef yn ddyn gonest ac yn parchu Duw'n fwy na'r mwyafrif.
2and I charge Hanani my brother, and Hananiah head of the palace, concerning Jerusalem — for he [is] as a man of truth, and fearing God above many —
3 A dywedais wrthynt, "Nid yw pyrth Jerwsalem i fod ar agor nes bod yr haul wedi codi; a chyn iddo fachlud rhaid cau'r dorau a'u cloi. Trefnwch drigolion Jerwsalem yn wylwyr, pob un i wylio yn ei dro, a phob un yn ymyl ei du375? ei hun."
3and I say to them, `Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened till the heat of the sun, and while they are standing by let them shut the doors, and fasten, and appoint guards of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each in his guard, and each over-against his house.`
4 Yr oedd y ddinas yn fawr ac yn eang, ond ychydig o bobl oedd ynddi, a'r tai heb eu hailgodi.
4And the city [is] broad on both sides, and great, and the people [are] few in its midst, and there are no houses builded;
5 Rhoddodd Duw yn fy meddwl i gasglu ynghyd y pendefigion, y swyddogion a'r bobl i'w cofrestru. Deuthum o hyd i lyfr achau y rhai a ddaeth yn gyntaf o'r gaethglud, a dyma oedd wedi ei ysgrifennu ynddo:
5and my God putteth it unto my heart, and I gather the freeman, and the prefects, and the people, for the genealogy, and I find a book of the genealogy of those coming up at the beginning, and I find written in it: —
6 Dyma bobl y dalaith a ddychwelodd o gaethiwed, o'r gaethglud a ddygwyd gan Nebuchadnesar brenin Babilon, ac a ddaeth yn l i Jerwsalem ac i Jwda, pob un i'w dref ei hun.
6These [are] sons of the province, those coming up of the captives of the removal that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed — and they turn back to Jerusalem and to Judah, each to his city —
