1 Bob nos ar fy ngwely ceisiais fy nghariad; fe'i ceisiais, ond heb ei gael.
1On my couch by night, I sought him whom my soul hath loved; I sought him, and I found him not!
2 Mi godais, a mynd o amgylch y dref, trwy'r heolydd a'r strydoedd; chwiliais am fy nghariad; chwilio, ond heb ei gael.
2— Pray, let me rise, and go round the city, In the streets and in the broad places, I seek him whom my soul hath loved! — I sought him, and I found him not.
3 Daeth y gwylwyr i'm cyfarfod, wrth iddynt fynd o amgylch y dref, a gofynnais, "A welsoch chwi fy nghariad?"
3The watchmen have found me, (Who are going round about the city), `Him whom my soul have loved saw ye?`
4 Ymhen ychydig wedi imi eu gadael, fe gefais fy nghariad; gafaelais ynddo, a gwrthod ei ollwng nes ei ddwyn i du375? fy mam, i ystafell yr un a esgorodd arnaf.
4But a little I passed on from them, Till I found him whom my soul hath loved! I seized him, and let him not go, Till I brought him in unto the house of my mother — And the chamber of her that conceived me.
5 Ferched Jerwsalem, yr wyf yn ymbil arnoch yn enw iyrchod ac ewigod y maes. Peidiwch � deffro na tharfu f'anwylyd nes y bydd hi'n dymuno.
5I have adjured you, daughters of Jerusalem, By the roes or by the hinds of the field, Stir not up nor wake the love till she please!
6 Beth yw hyn sy'n dod o'r anialwch, fel colofn o fwg yn llawn arogl o fyrr a thus, ac o bowdrau marsiand�wr?
6Who [is] this coming up from the wilderness, Like palm-trees of smoke, Perfumed [with] myrrh and frankincense, From every powder of the merchant?
7 Dyma gerbyd Solomon; o'i gylch y mae trigain o ddynion cryfion, y rhai cryfaf yn Israel,
7Lo, his couch, that [is] Solomon`s, Sixty mighty ones [are] around it, Of the mighty of Israel,
8 pob un yn cario cleddyf, ac wedi ei hyfforddi i ryfela, pob un �'i gleddyf ar ei glun, yn barod ar gyfer dychryn yn y nos.
8All of them holding sword, taught of battle, Each his sword by his thigh, for fear at night.
9 Gwnaeth y Brenin Solomon iddo'i hun gadair gludo o goed Lebanon,
9A palanquin king Solomon made for himself, Of the wood of Lebanon,
10 gyda'i pholion o arian, ei chefn o aur, ei sedd o borffor, a'r tu mewn iddi yn lledr o waith merched Jerwsalem.
10Its pillars he made of silver, Its bottom of gold, its seat of purple, Its midst lined [with] love, By the daughters of Jerusalem.
11 Dewch allan, ferched Seion, edrychwch ar y Brenin Solomon yn gwisgo'r goron a roddodd ei fam iddo ar ddydd ei briodas, y dydd pan oedd yn llawen.
11Go forth, and look, ye daughters of Zion, On king Solomon, with the crown, With which his mother crowned him, In the day of his espousals, And in the day of the joy of his heart!
