¹ Galwodd gwu375?r Effraim eu milwyr ynghyd a chroesi i Saffon, a dweud wrth Jefftha, "Pam yr aethost i ymladd yn erbyn yr Ammoniaid heb ein gwahodd ni i fynd gyda thi? Fe losgwn dy du375? am dy ben."

¹And the men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house upon thee with fire.

² Dywedodd Jefftha, "Yr oedd gennyf fi a'm pobl achos chwerw yn erbyn yr Ammoniaid, ond pe byddwn wedi galw arnoch chwi, ni fyddech wedi fy achub o'u llaw.

²And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye saved me not out of their hand.

³ Pan welais na fyddech yn fy achub, mentrais fynd yn erbyn yr Ammoniaid; ac fe roddodd yr ARGLWYDD hwy yn fy llaw. Pam yr ydych wedi dod ataf heddiw i ymladd � mi?"

³And when I saw that ye saved me not, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Jehovah delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

⁴ Yna casglodd Jefftha holl filwyr Gilead at ei gilydd ac ymladd ag Effraim; a threchodd milwyr Gilead bobl Effraim, am iddynt ddweud, "Ff�edigion o Effraim ydych chwi, bobl Gilead, ymysg pobl Effraim a Manasse."

⁴Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye are fugitives of Ephraim, ye Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim, [and] in the midst of Manasseh.

⁵ Meddiannodd Gilead y rhydau dros yr Iorddonen i gyfeiriad Effraim, a phan fyddai ffoadur o Effraim yn crefu am gael croesi, byddai dynion Gilead yn gofyn iddo, "Ai un o Effraim wyt ti?" Pe byddai hwnnw'n ateb, "Nage",

⁵And the Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. And it was so, that, when [any of] the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

⁶ yna byddent yn dweud wrtho, "Dywed, 'Shibboleth'." Byddai yntau'n dweud, "Sibboleth", gan na fedrai ynganu'n gywir. Ac wedi iddynt ei ddal, byddent yn ei ladd ger rhydau'r Iorddonen. Bu farw dwy fil a deugain o wu375?r Effraim y pryd hwnnw.

⁶then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth; for he could not frame to pronounce it right: then they laid hold on him, and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand.

⁷ Bu Jefftha o Gilead yn farnwr ar Israel am chwe blynedd; a phan fu farw, claddwyd ef yn ei dref yn Gilead.

⁷And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in [one of] the cities of Gilead.

⁸ Ar ei �l ef bu Ibsan o Fethlehem yn farnwr ar Israel.

⁸And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel.

⁹ Yr oedd ganddo ddeg ar hugain o feibion a deg ar hugain o ferched. Rhoddodd ei ferched ei hun mewn priodas i rai o'r tu allan, a chyrchodd ddeg ar hugain o ferched o'r tu allan yn wragedd i'w feibion. Bu'n farnwr ar Israel am saith mlynedd.

⁹And he had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

¹⁰ Pan fu Ibsan farw, claddwyd ef ym Methlehem.

¹⁰And Ibzan died, and was buried at Beth-lehem.

¹¹ Ar ei �l ef bu Elon o Sabulon yn farnwr ar Israel am ddeng mlynedd.

¹¹And after him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

¹² Pan fu Elon o Sabulon farw, claddwyd ef yn Ajalon yn nhir Sabulon.

¹²And Elon the Zebulunite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.

¹³ Ar ei �l ef bu Abdon fab Hilel o Pirathon yn farnwr ar Israel.

¹³And after him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel.

¹⁴ Yr oedd ganddo ef ddeugain mab a deg ar hugain o wyrion yn marchogaeth ar ddeg asyn a thrigain. Bu'n farnwr ar Israel am wyth mlynedd.

¹⁴And he had forty sons and thirty sons' sons, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

¹⁵ Pan fu Abdon fab Hilel o Pirathon farw, claddwyd ef yn Pirathon yn nhir Effraim, ym mynydd yr Amaleciaid.

¹⁵And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekites.
