1 Carodd y Brenin Solomon lawer o ferched estron heblaw merch Pharo merched o Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon a'r Hethiaid,
1But king Solomon loved many foreign women, besides the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, Hittites;
2 y cenhedloedd y dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth yr Israeliaid amdanynt, "Peidiwch 'u priodi, a pheidiwch rhoi mewn priodas iddynt; byddant yn sicr o'ch hudo i ddilyn eu duwiau." Ond dal i'w caru a wni Solomon.
2of the nations of which Jehovah had said to the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in to you; they would certainly turn away your heart after their gods: to these Solomon was attached in love.
3 Yr oedd ganddo saith gant o brif wragedd a thri chant o ordderchwragedd; a hudodd ei wragedd ef.
3And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.
4 Pan heneiddiodd Solomon, hudodd ei wragedd ef i ddilyn duwiau estron, ac nid oedd ei galon yn llwyr gyda'r ARGLWYDD ei Dduw, fel y bu calon ei dad Dafydd.
4And it came to pass when Solomon was old, [that] his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father.
5 Aeth Solomon i addoli Astoreth duwies y Sidoniaid, a Milcom ffieiddbeth yr Ammoniaid;
5And Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
6 a gwnaeth ddrwg yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD, heb lwyr ddilyn yr ARGLWYDD fel y gwnaeth ei dad Dafydd.
6And Solomon did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and followed not fully Jehovah, as David his father.
7 Dyna'r pryd yr adeiladodd Solomon uchelfa i Cemos ffieiddbeth Moab, ac i Moloch ffieidd-beth yr Ammoniaid, ar y mynydd i'r dwyrain o Jerwsalem.
7Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, on the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.
8 Gwnaeth yr un modd i'w holl wragedd estron oedd yn parhau i arogldarthu ac aberthu i'w duwiau.
8And so he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.
9 Digiodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth Solomon am iddo droi oddi wrth ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel, ac yntau wedi ymddangos ddwywaith iddo,
9And Jehovah was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from Jehovah the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,
10 a'i rybuddio ynglu375?n hyn, nad oedd i addoli duwiau eraill.
10and had commanded him concerning this thing, not to go after other gods; but he kept not what Jehovah had commanded.
11 Ond ni chadwodd yr hyn a orch-mynnodd yr ARGLWYDD. Am hynny dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth Solomon, "Gan mai dyma dy ddewis, ac nad wyt ti wedi cadw fy nghyfamod na'm deddfau a orchmynnais iti, yr wyf am rwygo'r deyrnas oddi wrthyt a'i rhoi i un o'th weision.
11And Jehovah said to Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done by thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes which I commanded thee, I will certainly rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant:
12 Eto, er mwyn dy dad Dafydd, nid yn dy oes di y gwnaf hyn chwaith, ond oddi wrth dy fab y rhwygaf hi.
12notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it, for David thy father's sake; I will rend it out of the hand of thy son;
13 Ond nid wyf am rwygo ymaith y deyrnas i gyd; gadawaf un llwyth i'th fab, er mwyn fy ngwas Dafydd ac er mwyn Jerwsalem, a ddewisais."
13only, I will not rend away all the kingdom: I will give one tribe to thy son, for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.
14 A chododd yr ARGLWYDD Hadad yr Edomiad o deulu brenhinol Edom yn wrthwynebydd i Solomon.
14And Jehovah stirred up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was of the king's seed in Edom.
15 Yr oedd Dafydd wedi difa Edom pan aeth Joab capten y llu draw i gladdu'r lladdedigion, ac yr oedd wedi lladd pob gwryw yn Edom.
15Now it came to pass when David was in Edom, when Joab the captain of the host had gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom
16 Arhosodd Joab a'r holl Israeliaid yno am chwe mis, nes difa pob gwryw yn Edom.
16(for Joab abode there six months with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom),
17 Ond yr oedd Hadad, a oedd yn llanc ifanc ar y pryd, wedi dianc i lawr i'r Aifft gyda'r rhai o'r Edomiaid a fu'n weision i'w dad.
17that Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt, Hadad being yet a little child.
18 Wedi gadael Midian a chyrraedd Paran, cymerasant rai gyda hwy o Paran a dod i'r Aifft at Pharo brenin yr Aifft; rhoddodd yntau lety i Hadad, a threfnu i'w gynnal a rhoi tir iddo.
18And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran, and took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt; who gave him a house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.
19 Enillodd Hadad ffafr mawr yng ngolwg Pharo, a rhoddodd yntau chwaer ei wraig, sef chwaer y Frenhines Tachpenes, yn wraig iddo.
19And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, and he gave him as wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.
20 Pan roddodd chwaer Tachpenes enedigaeth i'w fab Genubath, magodd Tachpenes ef ar aelwyd Pharo, fel bod Genubath yng nghartref Pharo gyda phlant Pharo.
20And the sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son; and Tahpenes brought him up in Pharaoh's house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household, among the sons of Pharaoh.
21 Ond pan glywodd Hadad yn yr Aifft fod Dafydd wedi marw, a bod Joab capten y llu hefyd wedi marw, dywedodd wrth Pharo, "Gad imi fynd i'm gwlad fy hun."
21And Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead; and Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
22 Gofynnodd Pharo, "Ond beth sy'n brin arnat gyda mi, dy fod am fynd adref?" Meddai yntau, "Dim, ond gad imi fynd."
22And Pharaoh said to him, What then dost thou lack with me, that behold, thou desirest to go to thine own country? And he said, Nothing; but in any case let me depart.
23 Gwrthwynebydd arall a gododd Duw i Solomon oedd Reson fab Eliada. Yr oedd hwn wedi ffoi oddi wrth ei arglwydd, Hadadeser brenin Soba.
23God stirred him up yet an adversary, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from Hadadezer king of Zobah, his lord.
24 Casglodd rai o'i gwmpas a mynd yn gapten gwylliaid, ar l y lladdfa a wnaeth Dafydd arnynt, ac aethant i fyw i Ddamascus a'i rheoli.
24And he collected men to him, and became captain of a band, when David slew them [of Zobah]; and they went to Damascus, and dwelt there, and reigned in Damascus.
25 Bu'n wrthwynebydd i Israel tra bu Solomon yn fyw, ac yn gwneud cymaint o ddrwg Hadad, am ei fod yn ffieiddio Israel ac yn frenin ar Syria.
25And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the mischief that Hadad [did]; and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.
26 Un arall a gododd mewn gwrthryfel yn erbyn y brenin oedd Jeroboam fab Nebat, Effratead o Sereda, a swyddog i Solomon; gwraig weddw o'r enw Serfa oedd ei fam.
26And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zeredah, Solomon's servant (whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman), even he lifted up his hand against the king.
27 A dyma'r achos iddo wrthryfela yn erbyn y brenin: pan oedd Solomon yn codi'r Milo ac yn cau'r bwlch ym mur dinas ei dad Dafydd,
27And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon was building Millo, and closing the breach of the city of David his father;
28 yr oedd Jeroboam yn u373?r medrus; a phan welodd Solomon sut yr oedd y llanc yn gwneud ei waith, gwnaeth ef yn arolygwr dros holl fintai llafur gorfod llwyth Joseff.
28and the man Jeroboam was strong and valiant; and Solomon saw the young man that he was industrious, and he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.
29 Y pryd hwnnw digwyddodd i Jeroboam fynd o Jerwsalem, ac ar y ffordd cyfarfu 'r proffwyd Aheia o Seilo mewn mantell newydd, heb neb ond hwy ill dau yn y fan.
29And it came to pass at that time that Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, and the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field.
30 Cydiodd Aheia yn y fantell newydd oedd amdano a'i rhwygo'n ddeuddeg darn,
30Then Ahijah seized the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces;
31 a dweud wrth Jeroboam, "Cymer ddeg o'r darnau, oherwydd fel hyn y dywedodd ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel: 'Yr wyf ar rwygo'r deyrnas o afael Solomon, a rhoi i ti ddeg o'r llwythau.
31and said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces; for thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee;
32 Ond caiff ef un llwyth er mwyn fy ngwas Dafydd, ac er mwyn Jerwsalem, y ddinas a ddewisais allan o holl lwythau Israel.
32but one tribe shall he have for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:
33 Gwnaf hyn am ei fod wedi fy ngwadu i ac addoli Astoreth duwies y Sidoniaid, a Chemos duw Moab, a Milcom duw'r Ammoniaid, ac am nad yw wedi cerdded yn fy llwybrau i fel ei dad Dafydd, na gwneud yr hyn sy'n iawn gennyf fi, sef cadw fy ordeiniadau a'm barnedigaethau.
33because they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my sight, and my statutes and mine ordinances, as David his father.
34 Eto nid wyf am gymryd y deyrnas i gyd o'i ddwylo; yn hytrach gadawaf ef yn bennaeth am ei oes, er mwyn fy ngwas Dafydd, a ddewisais ac a gadwodd fy ngorchmynion a'm deddfau.
34But I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; for I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes;
35 Ond yr wyf am gymryd y deyrnas oddi ar ei fab a rhoi deg llwyth ohoni i ti.
35but I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, -- the ten tribes.
36 Rhoddaf un llwyth i'w fab, fel y caiff fy ngwas Dafydd lamp ger fy mron am byth yn Jerwsalem, y ddinas a ddewisais i mi fy hun i osod fy enw yno.
36And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city that I have chosen for myself to put my name there.
37 Dewisaf dithau i deyrnasu ar gymaint ag a ddymuni, a byddi'n frenin ar Israel.
37And I will take thee, that thou mayest reign over all that thy soul desireth, and thou shalt be king over Israel.
38 Ac os gwrandewi ar bopeth a orchmynnaf, a rhodio yn fy ffyrdd, a gwneud yr hyn sy'n iawn gennyf, sef cadw fy neddfau a'm gorchmynion fel y gwnaeth fy ngwas Dafydd, byddaf gyda thi a chodaf iti du375? sicr fel y gwneuthum i Ddafydd.
38And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my sight, in keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, that I will be with thee, and build thee a lasting house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
39 Rhoddaf Israel i ti er mwyn cosbi hil Dafydd oherwydd hyn; eto nid am byth chwaith.'"
39And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.
40 A cheisiodd Solomon ladd Jeroboam, ond ffodd Jeroboam draw i'r Aifft at Sisac brenin yr Aifft, ac yno y bu hyd farwolaeth Solomon.
40And Solomon sought to kill Jeroboam; and Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt; and he was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41 Am weddill hanes Solomon, popeth a gyflawnodd, a'i ddoethineb, onid yw ar gael yn llyfr gweithredoedd Solomon?
41And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
42 Deugain mlynedd oedd hyd yr amser y teyrnasodd Solomon yn Jerwsalem dros Israel.
42And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
43 Pan fu farw Solomon, a'i gladdu yn ninas ei dad Dafydd, daeth ei fab Rehoboam yn frenin yn ei le.
43And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
