¹ Ymaith gan hynny � phob drygioni a phob twyll a rhagrith a chenfigen, a phob siarad bychanus!

¹Laying aside therefore all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envyings and all evil speakings,

² Fel babanod newydd eu geni, blysiwch am laeth ysbrydol pur, er mwyn ichwi drwyddo gynyddu i iachawdwriaeth,

²as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

³ os ydych wedi profi tiriondeb yr Arglwydd.

³if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord [is] good.

⁴ Wrth ddod ato ef, y maen bywiol, gwrthodedig gan bobl ond etholedig a chlodfawr gan Dduw,

⁴To whom coming, a living stone, cast away indeed as worthless by men, but with God chosen, precious,

⁵ yr ydych chwithau hefyd, fel meini bywiol, yn cael eich adeiladu yn du375? ysbrydol, i fod yn offeiriadaeth sanctaidd, er mwyn offrymu aberthau ysbrydol, cymeradwy gan Dduw trwy Iesu Grist.

⁵yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁶ Oherwydd y mae'n sefyll yn yr Ysgrythur: "Wele fi'n gosod maen yn Seion, conglfaen etholedig a chlodfawr, a'r hwn sy'n credu ynddo, ni chywilyddir byth mohono."

⁶Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

⁷ Y mae ei glod, gan hynny, yn eiddoch chwi, y credinwyr; ond i'r anghredinwyr, "Y maen a wrthododd yr adeiladwyr, hwn a ddaeth yn faen y gongl",

⁷To you therefore who believe [is] the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of [the] corner,

⁸ a hefyd, "Maen tramgwydd, a chraig rhwystr." Y maent yn tramgwyddo wrth anufuddhau i'r gair; dyma'r dynged a osodwyd iddynt.

⁸and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; [who] stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.

⁹ Ond yr ydych chwi yn hil etholedig, yn offeiriadaeth frenhinol, yn genedl sanctaidd, yn bobl o'r eiddo Duw ei hun, i hysbysu gweithredoedd ardderchog yr Un a'ch galwodd chwi allan o dywyllwch i'w ryfeddol oleuni ef:

⁹But *ye* [are] a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

¹⁰ "A chwi gynt heb fod yn bobl, yr ydych yn awr yn bobl Dduw; a chwi gynt heb dderbyn trugaredd, yr ydych yn awr yn rhai a dderbyniodd drugaredd."

¹⁰who once [were] not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

¹¹ Gyfeillion annwyl, rwy'n deisyf arnoch, fel alltudion a dieithriaid, i ymgadw rhag y chwantau cnawdol sydd yn rhyfela yn erbyn yr enaid.

¹¹Beloved, I exhort [you], as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹² Bydded eich ymarweddiad ymhlith y Cenhedloedd mor amlwg o dda nes iddynt hwy, lle y maent yn awr yn eich sarhau fel drwgweithredwyr, ogoneddu Duw yn nydd ei ymweliad ar gyfrif yr hyn a welant o'ch gweithredoedd da chwi.

¹²having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through [your] good works, [themselves] witnessing [them], glorify God in [the] day of visitation.

¹³ Ymostyngwch, er mwyn yr Arglwydd, i bob sefydliad dynol, prun ai i'r ymerawdwr fel y prif awdurdod,

¹³Be in subjection [therefore] to every human institution for the Lord's sake; whether to [the] king as supreme,

¹⁴ ai i'r llywodraethwyr fel rhai a anfonir ganddo ef er cosb i ddrwgweithredwyr a chlod i weithredwyr daioni.

¹⁴or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.

¹⁵ Oherwydd hyn yw ewyllys Duw, i chwi trwy wneud daioni roi taw ar anwybodaeth ffyliaid.

¹⁵Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

¹⁶ Rhaid ichwi fyw fel pobl rydd, eto peidio ag arfer eich rhyddid i gelu drygioni, ond bod fel caethweision Duw.

¹⁶as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.

¹⁷ Rhowch barch i bawb, carwch deulu'r ffydd, ofnwch Dduw, parchwch yr ymerawdwr.

¹⁷Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.

¹⁸ Chwi weision, byddwch ddaros-tyngedig i'ch meistri gyda phob parchedig ofn, nid yn unig i'r rhai da ac ystyriol ond hefyd i'r rhai gormesol.

¹⁸Servants, [be] subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.

¹⁹ Oblegid hyn sydd gymeradwy, bod rhywun, am fod ei feddylfryd ar Dduw, yn dygymod �'i flinderau er iddo ddioddef ar gam.

¹⁹For this [is] acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

²⁰ Oherwydd pa glod sydd mewn dygymod � chael eich cernodio am ymddwyn yn ddrwg? Ond os am wneud daioni y byddwch yn dioddef, ac yn dygymod � hynny, dyna'r peth sy'n gymeradwy gan Duw.

²⁰For what glory [is it], if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear [it]? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear [it], this is acceptable with God.

²¹ Canys i hyn y'ch galwyd, oherwydd dioddefodd Crist yntau er eich mwyn chwi, gan adael ichwi esiampl, ichwi ganlyn yn �l ei draed ef.

²¹For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:

²² Yng ngeiriau'r Ysgrythur: "Ni wnaeth ef bechod, ac ni chafwyd twyll yn ei enau."

²²who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;

²³ Pan fyddai'n cael ei ddifenwi, ni fyddai'n difenwi'n �l; pan fyddai'n dioddef, ni fyddai'n bygwth, ond yn ei gyflwyno'i hun i'r Un sy'n barnu'n gyfiawn.

²³who, [when] reviled, reviled not again; [when] suffering, threatened not; but gave [himself] over into the hands of him who judges righteously;

²⁴ Ef ei hun a ddygodd ein pechodau yn ei gorff ar y croesbren, er mwyn i ni ddarfod �'n pechodau a byw i gyfiawnder. Trwy ei archoll ef y cawsoch iach�d.

²⁴who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.

²⁵ Oherwydd yr oeddech fel defaid ar ddisberod, ond yn awr troesoch at Fugail a Gwarchodwr eich eneidiau.

²⁵For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
