1 Pan ddychwelodd Rehoboam i Jerwsalem, galwodd ynghyd dylwythau Jwda a Benjamin, cant a phedwar ugain o filoedd o ryfelwyr dethol, i ryfela yn erbyn Israel i adennill y frenhiniaeth i Rehoboam.
1And Rehoboam came to Jerusalem; and he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men apt for war, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
2 Ond daeth gair yr ARGLWYDD at Semeia, gu373?r Duw:
2But the word of Jehovah came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
3 "Dywed wrth Rehoboam fab Solomon, brenin Jwda, ac wrth holl Israel yn Jwda a Benjamin,
3Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4 'Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: Peidiwch � mynd i ryfela yn erbyn eich perthnasau; ewch yn �l adref bob un, gan mai oddi wrthyf fi y daw hyn.'" A gwrandawsant ar eiriau'r ARGLWYDD, a pheidio � mynd yn erbyn Jeroboam.
4Thus saith Jehovah: Go not up, nor fight with your brethren; return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. And they hearkened to the words of Jehovah, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5 Arhosodd Rehoboam yn Jerwsalem, ac adeiladu dinasoedd caerog yn Jwda.
5And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.
6 Adeiladodd Bethlehem, Etam, Tecoa,
6And he built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7 Beth-sur, Socho, Adulam,
7and Beth-zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
8 Gath, Maresa, Siff,
8and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9 Adoraim, Lachis, Aseca,
9and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10 Sora, Ajalon a Hebron, sef dinasoedd caerog Jwda a Benjamin.
10and Zorah, and Ajalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
11 Cryfhaodd y caerau a rhoi rheolwyr ynddynt, a hefyd st�r o fwyd, olew a gwin.
11And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of victuals, and of oil and wine;
12 Gwnaeth bob dinas yn amddiffynfa gadarn iawn ac yn lle i gadw tarianau a gwaywffyn. Felly daliodd ei afael ar Jwda a Benjamin.
12and in every several city, targets and spears, and made them exceedingly strong. And Judah and Benjamin were his.
13 Daeth yr offeiriaid a'r Lefiaid ato o ble bynnag yr oeddent yn byw yn Israel gyfan;
13And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their districts;
14 oherwydd yr oedd y Lefiaid wedi gadael eu cytir a'u tiriogaeth a dod i Jwda a Jerwsalem, am fod Jeroboam a'i feibion wedi eu rhwystro rhag bod yn offeiriaid i'r ARGLWYDD,
14for the Levites left their suburbs and their possessions, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from exercising the priesthood to Jehovah;
15 ac wedi penodi ei offeiriaid ei hun ar gyfer yr uchelfeydd ac ar gyfer y bychod geifr a'r lloi a luniodd.
15and he ordained for himself priests for the high places, and for the he-goats and for the calves that he had made.
16 A daeth pawb o lwythau Israel, a oedd yn awyddus i geisio ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel, ar �l y Lefiaid i Jerwsalem er mwyn aberthu i ARGLWYDD Dduw eu hynafiaid.
16-- And after them, those out of all the tribes of Israel that set their heart to seek Jehovah the God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice to Jehovah the God of their fathers.
17 Felly cryfhasant frenhiniaeth Jwda, a chadarnhau Rehoboam fab Solomon am dair blynedd, gan ddilyn yn llwybrau Dafydd a Solomon trwy'r cyfnod hwn.
17And they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong three years; for during three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
18 Priododd Rehoboam � Mahalath; merch i Jerimoth fab Dafydd ac i Abihail ferch Eliab, fab Jesse oedd hi,
18And Rehoboam took Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David as wife, [and of] Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse.
19 ac fe roes iddo feibion, sef Jeus, Samareia a Saham.
19And she bore him children: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
20 Ar ei h�l hi, fe gymerodd Maacha ferch Absalom, a rhoes hithau iddo Abeia, Attai, Sisa a Selomith.
20And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 Yr oedd Rehoboam yn caru Maacha ferch Absalom yn fwy na'i holl wragedd a'i ordderchwragedd. Yr oedd ganddo ddeunaw o wragedd a thrigain o ordderchwragedd, ac fe genhedlodd wyth ar hugain o feibion a thrigain o ferched.
21And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines; for he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and he begot twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
22 Gosododd Rehoboam Abeia fab Maacha yn bennaeth ar ei frodyr, er mwyn ei wneud yn frenin.
22And Rehoboam established Abijah the son of Maachah at the head, to be ruler among his brethren; for [he thought] to make him king.
23 Bu'n ddigon doeth i wasgaru ei feibion trwy'r holl ddinasoedd caerog yn nhiriogaeth Jwda a Benjamin. Darparodd yn hael ar eu cyfer a cheisiodd lawer o wragedd iddynt.
23And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to all the fortified cities; and he gave them food in abundance. And he desired [for them] a multitude of wives.
