2 Chronicles

24

1 Saith oed oedd Jehoas pan ddaeth yn frenin, a theyrnasodd yn Jerwsalem am ddeugain mlynedd. Sibia o Beerseba oedd enw ei fam.
1Joash was seven years old when he began to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
2 Gwnaeth Jehoas yr hyn oedd uniawn yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD trwy gydol cyfnod Jehoiada'r offeiriad.
2And Joash did what was right in the sight of Jehovah all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
3 Dewisodd Jehoiada ddwy wraig iddo, a chafodd ganddynt feibion a merched.
3And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begot sons and daughters.
4 Wedi hyn, rhoddodd Jehoas ei fryd ar adnewyddu tu375?'r ARGLWYDD.
4And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to renew the house of Jehovah.
5 Cynullodd yr offeiriaid a'r Lefiaid a dweud wrthynt, "Ewch ar frys trwy holl ddinasoedd Jwda i gasglu'r dreth flynyddol gan Israel gyfan, er mwyn atgyweirio tu375? eich Duw." Ond ni frysiodd y Lefiaid.
5And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out to the cities of Judah and collect of all Israel money for the repair of the house of your God from year to year, and ye shall hasten the matter. But the Levites hastened it not.
6 Galwodd y brenin ar Jehoiada, yr archoffeiriad, a dweud wrtho, "Pam na fynnaist fod y Lefiaid yn casglu o Jwda a Jerwsalem y dreth a osododd Moses gwas yr ARGLWYDD ar gynulleidfa Israel ar gyfer pabell y dystiolaeth?
6And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the tribute of Moses the servant of Jehovah [laid upon] the congregation of Israel, for the tent of the testimony?
7 Oherwydd y mae meibion y wraig ddrwg Athaleia wedi malurio tu375? Dduw, ac wedi rhoi pob un o'i bethau cysegredig i'r Baalim."
7For the wicked Athaliah [and] her sons had devastated the house of God; and also all the hallowed things of the house of Jehovah had they employed for the Baals.
8 Ar orchymyn y brenin gwnaethant gist a'i gosod y tu allan i borth tu375?'r ARGLWYDD.
8And the king commanded, and they made a chest, and set it at the gate of the house of Jehovah without,
9 Yna cyhoeddwyd trwy Jwda a Jerwsalem fod pawb i roi i'r ARGLWYDD y dreth a osododd Moses gwas Duw ar Israel yn yr anialwch.
9and they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring to Jehovah the tribute of Moses the servant of God [laid upon] Israel in the wilderness.
10 Dygodd yr holl dywysogion a'r bobl yr arian yn llawen, a'i roi yn y gist nes ei bod yn llawn.
10And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in and cast into the chest, until they had finished.
11 Bob tro y byddai'r Lefiaid yn dod 'r gist at swyddogion y brenin, a hwythau'n gweld fod ynddi swm mawr o arian, byddai ysgrifennydd y brenin a swyddog yr archoffeiriad yn dod ac yn gwagio'r gist, ac yna'n mynd hi'n l i'w lle. Gwnaent hyn yn gyson, a chasglu llawer o arian.
11And it came to pass at the time the chest was brought for the king's control by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and high priest's officer came, and they emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
12 Rhoddai'r brenin a Jehoiada yr arian i'r rhai a benodwyd i ofalu am y gwaith yn nhu375?'r ARGLWYDD; yr oeddent hwythau yn cyflogi seiri maen a seiri coed i adnewyddu tu375?'r ARGLWYDD, a gweithwyr mewn haearn a phres i'w atgyweirio.
12And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and they hired masons and carpenters to renew the house of Jehovah, and also such as wrought in iron and bronze, to repair the house of Jehovah.
13 Yr oedd y rhai a benodwyd yn gweithio'n ddyfal, a bu'r atgyweirio'n llwyddiant dan eu gofal; gwnaethant du375? Dduw yn gadarn, a'i adfer i'w gyflwr gwreiddiol.
13So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in its state, and strengthened it.
14 Wedi iddynt orffen, daethant gweddill yr arian i'r brenin ac i Jehoiada, ac fe'i defnyddiwyd i wneud llestri i du375?'r ARGLWYDD, sef llestri ar gyfer y gwasanaeth a'r poethoffrymau, llwyau a llestri aur ac arian. Buont yn offrymu poethoffrymau yn barhaus yn nhu375?'r ARGLWYDD holl ddyddiau Jehoiada.
14And when they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada; and they made of it vessels for the house of Jehovah, utensils to minister, and with which to offer up, and cups, and utensils of gold and silver. And they offered up burnt-offerings in the house of Jehovah continually all the days of Jehoiada.
15 Aeth Jehoiada'n hen, a bu farw mewn oedran teg. Yr oedd yn gant tri deg pan fu farw,
15And Jehoiada grew old and was full of days, and he died; he was a hundred and thirty years old when he died.
16 a chafodd ei gladdu gyda'r brenhinoedd yn Ninas Dafydd, am iddo wneud daioni yn Israel a gwasanaethu Duw a'i du375?.
16And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and toward his house.
17 Wedi marw Jehoiada, daeth tyw-ysogion Jwda i dalu gwrogaeth i'r brenin, a gwrandawodd yntau arnynt.
17And after the death of Jehoiada the princes of Judah came and made obeisance to the king; then the king hearkened to them.
18 Yna troesant eu cefn ar du375?'r ARGLWYDD, Duw eu hynafiaid, a gwasanaethu'r pyst Asera a'r delwau. Daeth llid Duw ar Jwda a Jerwsalem am iddynt droseddu fel hyn.
18And they forsook the house of Jehovah the God of their fathers, and served the Asherahs and idols; and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.
19 Ac er i'r ARGLWYDD anfon proffwydi atynt i'w harwain yn l ato ac i'w hargyhoeddi, ni wrandawsant arnynt.
19And he sent prophets among them to bring them again to Jehovah, and they testified against them; but they would not give ear.
20 Yna daeth ysbryd Duw ar Sechareia fab Jehoiada yr offeiriad, ac fe safodd gerbron y bobl a dweud, "Fel hyn y dywed Duw: 'Pam yr ydych yn torri gorchmynion yr ARGLWYDD? Ni fyddwch yn ffynnu. Am i chwi droi cefn ar yr ARGLWYDD, y mae yntau wedi troi ei gefn arnoch chwi.'"
20And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood up above the people and said unto them, Thus saith God: Wherefore do ye transgress the commandments of Jehovah? And ye cannot prosper; for ye have forsaken Jehovah, and he hath forsaken you.
21 Ond gwnaethant gynllwyn yn ei erbyn, ac ar orchymyn y brenin fe'i llabyddiwyd yng nghyntedd tu375?'r ARGLWYDD.
21And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the command of the king in the court of the house of Jehovah.
22 Anghofiodd y Brenin Jehoas am y caredigrwydd a gafodd gan Jehoiada tad Sechareia, a lladdodd ei fab. Fel yr oedd Sechareia'n marw, dywedodd, "Bydded i'r ARGLWYDD weld, a'th alw i gyfrif."
22And king Joash remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, Jehovah see and require [it]!
23 Ar ddiwedd y flwyddyn daeth byddin Syria i ryfela yn erbyn Jehoas. Daethant i Jwda a Jerwsalem, a lladd pob un o dywysogion y bobl, ac anfon eu hysbail i gyd i frenin Damascus.
23And it came to pass at the end of the year [that] the army of Syria came up against him; and they entered into Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them to the king at Damascus.
24 Er i'r Syriaid ddod gyda byddin fechan, rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD lu mawr iawn yn eu dwylo, am i'r bobl droi eu cefn ar yr ARGLWYDD, Duw eu hynafiaid. Felly daethant barn ar Jehoas.
24Truly with a small company of men came the army of the Syrians, but Jehovah delivered a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken Jehovah the God of their fathers; and they executed judgment upon Joash.
25 Ar l i'r Syriaid fynd ymaith, a'i adael wedi ei glwyfo'n ddrwg, cynllwyniodd ei weision ei hun yn ei erbyn i ddial am farwolaeth mab Jehoiada yr offeiriad, a lladdasant Jehoas ar ei wely. Felly bu farw, ac fe'i claddwyd yn Ninas Dafydd, ond nid ym meddau'r brenhinoedd.
25And when they had departed from him (for they left him in great diseases), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died; and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the sepulchres of the kings.
26 Y rhai a gynllwyniodd yn ei erbyn oedd Sabad fab Simeath yr Ammones, a Jehosabad fab Simrith y Foabes.
26And these are they that conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith a Moabitess.
27 Y mae hanes ei feibion, y llu oraclau a draddodwyd yn ei erbyn, a hanes ei waith yn atgyweirio tu375? Dduw, i gyd wedi eu hysgrifennu yn yr esboniad ar Lyfr y Brenhinoedd. Daeth ei fab Amaseia yn frenin yn ei le.
27And as to his sons, and the greatness of the burdens [laid] upon him, and the building of the house of God, behold, they are written in the treatise of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
