Darby's Translation

Deuteronomy

2

1 Yna troesom a mynd i'r anialwch i gyfeiriad y Mr Coch, fel yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD wedi dweud wrthyf, a buom yn teithio o gwmpas mynydd-dir Seir am ddyddiau lawer.
1And we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as Jehovah had said unto me; and we went round mount Seir many days.
2 Yna dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf,
2And Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
3 "Yr ydych wedi teithio'n ddigon hir o gwmpas y mynydd-dir hwn; trowch yn awr i'r gogledd.
3Ye have gone round this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
4 Gorchymyn i'r bobl a dweud wrthynt, 'Yr ydych yn mynd i deithio trwy diriogaeth eich perthnasau, tylwyth Esau, sy'n byw yn Seir.
4And command the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; and ye shall be very guarded:
5 Y maent yn eich ofni, ond gofalwch beidio ag ymosod arnynt, oherwydd ni roddaf i chwi gymaint lled troed o'u tir, am fy mod wedi rhoi mynydd-dir Seir yn etifeddiaeth i Esau.
5attack them not; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot-breadth; for I have given mount Seir as a possession unto Esau.
6 Talwch ag arian am y bwyd a brynwch ganddynt i'w fwyta, a'r un modd am y du373?r a yfwch.'
6Ye shall buy of them food for money, that ye may eat; and water shall ye also buy of them for money, that ye may drink;
7 Y mae'r ARGLWYDD dy Dduw wedi dy fendithio yn y cyfan a wnaethost, ac wedi gwylio dy daith yn yr anialwch mawr hwn; am y deugain mlynedd hyn bu'r ARGLWYDD dy Dduw gyda thi, ac ni fu arnat eisiau dim."
7for Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand. He hath known thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years hath Jehovah thy God been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 Yna aethom oddi wrth ein perthnasau, tylwyth Esau, a oedd yn byw yn Seir, ac o ffordd yr Araba, ac o Elath ac Esion-geber, a throi i gyfeiriad anialwch Moab.
8And we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the plain, by Elath, and by Ezion-geber, and we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 Dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf eto, "Paid chythruddo'r Moabiaid, na bygwth ymladd yn eu herbyn, oherwydd ni roddaf feddiant i ti o'u tir, am fy mod wedi rhoi Ar yn feddiant i dylwyth Lot."
9And Jehovah said to me, Distress not the Moabites, neither engage with them in battle; for I will not give thee of their land a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given Ar as a possession.
10 Cyn hynny yr oedd yr Emim, dynion mawr, niferus a thal fel yr Anacim, yn byw yno.
10(The Emim dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim.
11 Ystyrid hwythau'n Reffaim fel yr Anacim, ond bod y Moabiaid yn eu galw'n Emim.
11They also are reckoned as giants like the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.
12 A hefyd yn yr amser gynt yr oedd yr Horiaid yn byw yn Seir, ond cymerodd tylwyth Esau eu tiriogaeth a'u difa hwy o'u blaen, a byw yno yn eu lle, fel y gwnaeth yr Israeliaid yn y tir a roddodd yr ARGLWYDD yn feddiant iddynt.
12And in Seir dwelt the Horites in times past; and the children of Esau dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did to the land of their possession, which Jehovah gave to them.)
13 A dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD, "Yn awr paratowch i groesi nant Sared." Felly aethom dros nant Sared.
13Now rise up, and pass over the torrent Zered. And we passed over the torrent Zered.
14 Cymerodd ddeunaw mlynedd ar hugain inni deithio o Cades-barnea nes croesi nant Sared; erbyn hynny yr oedd y cyfan o genhedlaeth y rhyfelwyr wedi darfod o'r gwersyll, fel y tyngodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthynt.
14Now the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we had come over the torrent Zered, were thirty-eight years; until the whole generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah had sworn unto them.
15 Yn wir yr oedd llaw'r ARGLWYDD yn eu herbyn, i'w difa'n llwyr o'r gwersyll.
15Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.
16 Wedi marw y cyfan o'r rhyfelwyr o blith y bobl,
16And it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed, having died off from among the people,
17 dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf,
17that Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
18 "Heddiw yr wyt i groesi terfyn Moab yn ymyl Ar.
18Thou art to pass this day over the border of Moab, [which is] Ar,
19 Pan ddoi at ffin yr Ammoniaid, paid 'u cythruddo na'u bygwth, oherwydd ni roddaf feddiant o'u tir i ti, am fy mod wedi ei roi yn feddiant i dylwyth Lot."
19and come near over against the children of Ammon; thou shalt not distress them nor attack them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given it as a possession.
20 (Ystyrid hwn hefyd yn dir y Reffaim, am mai'r Reffaim oedd yn byw yno yn yr amser gynt, ond yr oedd yr Ammoniaid yn eu galw'n Samsumim.
20(That also is reckoned a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in time past, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;
21 Yr oeddent hwy yn ddynion mawr, niferus a thal fel yr Anacim; ond fe ddifawyd y Reffaim gan yr ARGLWYDD, a chymerodd yr Ammoniaid feddiant o'u tir, a byw yno.
21a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim; and Jehovah destroyed them before them, and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead;
22 Gwnaeth yr ARGLWYDD yr un fath i feibion Esau oedd yn byw yn Seir, pan ddifaodd yr Horiaid o'u blaen, a chymerasant hwythau feddiant o'u tir, a byw yno hyd heddiw.
22as he did to the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Horites; and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead, even to this day.
23 Y Cafftorim a ymfudodd o Cafftor a ddifaodd yr Afiaid oedd yn byw yn y pentrefi yn ymyl Gasa, ac yna byw yn eu tiriogaeth.)
23And the Avvites who dwelt in the hamlets as far as Gazah -- the Caphtorim, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 "Cychwynnwch yn awr ar eich taith, a chroeswch nant Arnon. Edrych, yr wyf yn rhoi Sihon yr Amoriad, brenin Hesbon, a'i wlad yn dy law. Dos ati i'w meddiannu, ac ymosod arno.
24Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon. Behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land: begin, take possession, and engage with him in battle.
25 Heddiw fe ddechreuaf wneud i'r holl bobloedd dan y nefoedd ofni ac arswydo o'th flaen; pan glywant sn amdanat, byddant yn crynu ac yn arswydo o'th flaen."
25This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples under the whole heaven; who will hear report of thee, and will tremble, and quake because of thee.
26 Yna anfonais negeswyr o anialwch Cedemoth at Sihon brenin Hesbon gyda geiriau heddychlon,
26And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon the king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 "Gad imi deithio trwy dy dir ar hyd y briffordd; fe deithiaf arni heb droi i'r dde na'r chwith.
27Let me pass through thy land: by the highway alone will I go; I will neither turn to the right hand nor to the left.
28 Cei werthu imi am arian y bwyd y byddaf yn ei fwyta, a chei arian gennyf am y du373?r a roi imi i'w yfed; yn unig rho ganiatd imi deithio ar droed trwy dy dir,
28Thou shalt sell me food for money that I may eat; and thou shalt give me water for money that I may drink; I will only pass through on my feet,
29 fel y rhoddodd tylwyth Esau sy'n byw yn Seir imi, a hefyd y Moabiaid sy'n byw yn Ar, nes imi groesi'r Iorddonen i'r wlad y mae'r ARGLWYDD ein Duw yn ei rhoi inni."
29-- as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, -- until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.
30 Ond nid oedd Sihon brenin Hesbon yn fodlon inni deithio trwodd, oherwydd yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD eich Duw wedi caledu ei ysbryd a gwneud ei galon yn ystyfnig er mwyn ei roi yn eich llaw chwi, fel y mae heddiw.
30But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obdurate, that he might give him into thy hand, as it is this day.
31 Yna dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf, "Edrych, yr wyf wedi dechrau rhoi Sihon a'i dir i ti; dos ati i gymryd meddiant o'i wlad."
31And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I begin to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin, take possession, that thou mayest possess his land.
32 Daeth Sihon a'i holl fyddin allan i ymladd yn ein herbyn yn Jahas;
32And Sihon came out against us for battle, he and all his people, to Jahaz.
33 a rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw ef yn ein dwylo, a lladdasom ef a'i feibion a'i holl fyddin.
33But Jehovah our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and his whole people.
34 Yr adeg honno cymerasom ei ddinasoedd i gyd, a difa'n llwyr bawb oedd ym mhob dinas, yn ddynion, gwragedd a plant. Ni adawsom neb ar l,
34And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, men, and women, and little ones: we let none escape.
35 ond cymryd y gwartheg yn ysbail i ni ein hunain, ac anrhaith y dinasoedd a orchfygwyd gennym.
35Only the cattle we took as booty for ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36 O Aroer, a oedd ar lan nant Arnon, cyn belled Gilead a'r ddinas oedd yn y dyffryn, nid oedd yr un gaer yn rhy gadarn inni. Rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw y cyfan ohonynt yn ein dwylo.
36From Aroer, which is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the ravine even to Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: Jehovah our God delivered all before us.
37 Ond nid aethoch yn agos i wlad yr Ammoniaid, oddeutu nant Jabboc, nac ychwaith i ddinasoedd y mynydd-dir, nac i unrhyw le a waharddodd yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw inni.
37Only thou didst not approach the land of the children of Ammon, the whole border of the river Jabbok, nor the cities of the mountain, nor to whatsoever Jehovah our God had forbidden us.
