Darby's Translation

Deuteronomy

9

1 Gwrando, O Israel, yr wyt ti heddiw yn croesi'r Iorddonen i goncro cenhedloedd sy'n fwy ac yn gryfach na thi, a dinasoedd mawr chaerau cyn uched 'r nefoedd.
1Hear, Israel! Thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to enter in to possess nations greater and mightier than thou, cities great and walled up to heaven,
2 Y maent yn ddynion mawr a thal, disgynyddion yr Anacim; fe wyddost ti amdanynt, oherwydd clywaist ddweud, "Pwy a saif o flaen yr Anacim?"
2a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the sons of Anak!
3 Ond deall di heddiw fod yr ARGLWYDD dy Dduw, sy'n croesi o'th flaen, yn dn ysol, ac y bydd ef yn eu difa a'u darostwng o'th flaen. Byddi dithau'n eu gyrru allan ac yn eu difa yn sydyn, fel yr addawodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyt.
3Know then this day, that Jehovah thy God is he that goeth over before thee, a consuming fire; he will destroy them, and he will cast them down before thee, and thou shalt dispossess them and cause them to perish quickly, as Jehovah hath said unto thee.
4 Pan fydd yr ARGLWYDD dy Dduw wedi eu gyrru allan o'th flaen, paid dweud, "Daeth yr ARGLWYDD mi i feddiannu'r wlad hon oherwydd fy nghyfiawnder." Ond o achos drygioni'r cenhedloedd hyn y mae'r ARGLWYDD yn eu gyrru allan o'th flaen.
4Thou shalt not say in thy heart, when Jehovah thy God thrusteth them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah hath brought me in to possess this land; but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah dispossess them from before thee.
5 Nid oherwydd dy gyfiawnder a'th uniondeb yr wyt yn mynd i feddiannu eu gwlad, ond oherwydd drygioni'r cenhedloedd hyn y mae'r ARGLWYDD dy Dduw yn eu gyrru allan o'th flaen, ac er mwyn cadarnhau'r gair a dyngodd i'th dadau, Abraham, Isaac a Jacob.
5Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou enter in to possess their land, but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah thy God dispossess them from before thee, and that he may perform the word which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
6 Felly ystyria di nad o achos dy gyfiawnder y mae'r ARGLWYDD dy Dduw yn rhoi iti'r wlad dda hon i'w meddiannu; yn wir, pobl ystyfnig ydych.
6Know therefore that Jehovah thy God doth not give thee this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiff-necked people.
7 Cofia, a phaid ag anghofio, iti ennyn dig yr ARGLWYDD dy Dduw yn yr anialwch; yr wyt wedi gwrthryfela yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD o'r dydd y daethost allan o wlad yr Aifft nes iti ddod i'r lle hwn.
7Remember, forget not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came to this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah.
8 Digiasoch yr ARGLWYDD yn Horeb, ac yr oedd mor ddig nes iddo fwriadu eich difa.
8And at Horeb ye provoked Jehovah to wrath, and Jehovah was angry with you, to destroy you,
9 Pan euthum i fyny i'r mynydd i dderbyn y llechau, llechau'r cyfamod a wnaeth yr ARGLWYDD chwi, fe arhosais ar y mynydd am ddeugain diwrnod a deugain nos heb fwyta nac yfed.
9when I went up the mountain to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which Jehovah made with you, and I abode in the mountain forty days and forty nights, -- I ate no bread and drank no water, --
10 Rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD imi y ddwy lechen, llechau yr ysgrifennwyd arnynt gan fys Duw, ac arnynt yr oedd yr holl eiriau a lefarodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthych o ganol y tn ar y mynydd ar ddydd y cynulliad.
10-- and Jehovah delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words which Jehovah spoke with you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.
11 Ar ddiwedd y deugain diwrnod a deugain nos, rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD imi'r ddwy lechen, llechau'r cyfamod,
11And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.
12 a dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf, "Cod, dos i lawr ar unwaith o'r mynydd hwn, oherwydd y mae dy bobl, a ddygaist allan o'r Aifft, wedi gwneud peth llygredig; y maent wedi rhuthro i droi o'r ffordd a orchmynnais iddynt, ac wedi gwneud iddynt eu hunain ddelw dawdd."
12And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, go down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them: they have made for themselves a molten image.
13 Dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf, "Gwelais fod y bobl hyn yn bobl ystyfnig.
13And Jehovah spoke unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.
14 Gad lonydd imi, er mwyn imi eu difa a dileu eu henw o dan y nefoedd, a'th wneud di'n genedl gryfach a mwy niferus na hwy."
14Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 Yna trois a dod i lawr o'r mynydd dwy lechen y cyfamod yn fy nwylo, ac yr oedd y mynydd yn llosgi gan dn.
15And I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire; and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
16 Gwelais eich bod wedi pechu yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD eich Duw trwy wneud i chwi eich hunain ddelw dawdd ar ffurf llo, a rhuthro i droi o'r ffordd a orchmynnodd yr ARGLWYDD ichwi.
16And I saw, and behold, ye had sinned against Jehovah your God: ye had made for yourselves a molten calf; ye had quickly turned aside from the way which Jehovah had commanded you.
17 Cydiais yn y ddwy lechen a'u taflu o'm dwylo a'u torri yn eich gu373?ydd.
17And I seized the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
18 Yna syrthiais i lawr gerbron yr ARGLWYDD, fel o'r blaen, a bm am ddeugain diwrnod a deugain nos heb fwyta nac yfed o achos eich holl bechodau, sef gwneud drygioni yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD a'i ddigio.
18And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights, -- I ate no bread and drank no water, -- because of all your sin which ye had sinned, in doing what is evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.
19 Yr oeddwn yn ofni'r dig a'r cynddaredd yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD yn eu dangos tuag atoch gan feddwl eich difa, ond gwrandawodd yr ARGLWYDD arnaf y tro hwn eto.
19For I was afraid of the anger and fury wherewith Jehovah was wroth against you to destroy you. And Jehovah listened unto me also at that time.
20 Yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD yn ddig iawn wrth Aaron ac yn bwriadu ei ddifa, ond ymbiliais ar ei ran yr adeg honno.
20And with Aaron Jehovah was very angry to destroy him; and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
21 Cymerais y llo yr oeddech wedi pechu wrth ei wneud, a'i losgi yn y tn, ei guro a'i falu'n fn nes ei fod yn llwch, ac yna teflais y llwch i'r nant oedd yn llifo o'r mynydd.
21And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burned it with fire, and crushed it, and ground it very small, until it became fine dust; and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that flowed down from the mountain.
22 Digiasoch yr ARGLWYDD yn Tabera, yn Massa ac yn Cibroth-hattaafa.
22And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath.
23 Yna pan anfonodd yr ARGLWYDD chwi o Cades-barnea a dweud wrthych, "Ewch i fyny i feddiannu'r wlad yr wyf yn ei rhoi ichwi", gwrthryfela a wnaethoch yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD eich Duw, a gwrthod ymddiried ynddo a gwrando ar ei lais.
23And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and take possession of the land which I have given you, ye rebelled against the word of Jehovah your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
24 Yr ydych wedi gwrthryfela yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD o'r dydd y deuthum i'ch adnabod.
24Ye have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you.
25 Yna syrthiais i lawr gerbron yr ARGLWYDD am ddeugain diwrnod a deugain nos, oherwydd iddo ddweud ei fod am eich difa.
25So I fell down before Jehovah the forty days and forty nights, as I fell down; for Jehovah had said he would destroy you.
26 Gweddais ar yr ARGLWYDD a dweud, "O Arglwydd DDUW, paid dinistrio dy bobl, dy etifeddiaeth a achubaist 'th gryfder trwy ddod hwy allan o'r Aifft llaw gadarn.
26I prayed therefore to Jehovah, and said, Lord Jehovah, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a powerful hand.
27 Cofia dy weision, Abraham, Isaac a Jacob; paid ag edrych ar ystyfnigrwydd, drygioni a phechod y bobl hyn,
27Remember thy servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not at the stubbornness of this people, nor at their wickedness, nor at their sin;
28 rhag i drigolion y wlad y daethost hwy allan ohoni ddweud, 'Am ei fod yn methu mynd hwy i'r wlad a addawodd iddynt, ac am ei fod yn eu casu, y daeth yr ARGLWYDD hwy allan i'w lladd yn yr anialwch.'
28lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he had promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.
29 Ond dy bobl di ydynt, dy etifeddiaeth a ddygaist allan 'th nerth mawr ac 'th fraich estynedig."
29They are indeed thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out with thy great power and with thy stretched-out arm.
