Darby's Translation

Jeremiah

5

1 "Rhedwch yma a thraw trwy heolydd Jerwsalem, edrychwch a sylwch; chwiliwch yn ei lleoedd llydain a oes un i'w gael sy'n gwneud barn ac yn ceisio gwirionedd, er mwyn i mi ei harbed hi.
1Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broadways thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be [any] that doeth justice, that seeketh fidelity; and I will pardon it.
2 Er iddynt ddweud, 'Byw yw'r ARGLWYDD', eto tyngu'n gelwyddog y maent."
2And if they say, [As] Jehovah liveth! surely they swear falsely.
3 O ARGLWYDD, onid ar wirionedd y mae dy lygaid di? Trewaist hwy, ond ni fu'n ofid iddynt; difethaist hwy, ond gwrthodasant dderbyn cerydd. Gwnaethant eu hwynebau'n galetach na charreg, a gwrthod dychwelyd.
3Jehovah, are not thine eyes upon fidelity? Thou hast smitten them, but they are not sore; thou hast consumed them, they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
4 Yna dywedais, "Nid yw'r rhai hyn ond tlodion; ynfydion ydynt, a heb wybod ffordd yr ARGLWYDD na gofynion eu Duw.
4And I said, Surely these are the wretched ones, they are foolish; for they know not the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God.
5 Mi af yn hytrach at y mawrion, i ymddiddan hwy; fe wyddant hwy ffordd yr ARGLWYDD a gofynion eu Duw. Ond y maent hwythau'n ogystal wedi malurio'r iau, a dryllio'r tresi.
5I will go unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God; but these have altogether broken the yoke, have burst the bonds.
6 Am hyn, bydd llew o'r coed yn eu taro i lawr, a blaidd o'r anialwch yn eu distrywio; bydd llewpard yn gwylio'u dinasoedd ac yn llarpio pob un a ddaw allan ohonynt; oherwydd amlhaodd eu troseddau a chynyddodd eu gwrthgiliad.
6Therefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, a wolf of the evenings shall waste them; the leopard lurketh against their cities, every one that goeth out thence is torn in pieces: for their transgressions are multiplied, their backslidings are increased.
7 "Sut y maddeuaf iti am hyn? Y mae dy blant wedi fy ngadael, ac wedi tyngu i'r rhai nad ydynt dduwiau. Diwellais hwy, eto gwnaethant odineb a heidio i du375?'r butain.
7Wherefore should I pardon thee? Thy children have forsaken me, and swear by them that are not God. I have satiated them, and they have committed adultery, and they troop to the harlots' house.
8 Yr oeddent fel meirch nwydus a phorthiannus, pob un yn gweryru am gaseg ei gymydog.
8[As] well fed horses, they roam about, every one neigheth after his neighbour's wife.
9 Onid ymwelaf chwi am hyn?" medd yr ARGLWYDD. "Oni ddialaf ar y fath genedl hon?
9Shall I not visit for these things? saith Jehovah, and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10 "Tramwywch trwy ei rhesi gwinwydd, a dinistriwch hwy, ond peidiwch gwneud diwedd llwyr. Torrwch ymaith ei brigau, canys nid eiddo'r ARGLWYDD mohonynt.
10Go up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end; take away her battlements, for they are not Jehovah's.
11 Oherwydd bradychodd tu375? Israel a thu375? Jwda fi'n llwyr," medd yr ARGLWYDD.
11For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith Jehovah.
12 Buont yn gelwyddog am yr ARGLWYDD a dweud, "Ni wna ef ddim. Ni ddaw drwg arnom, ni welwn gleddyf na newyn;
12They have denied Jehovah, and say, He is not; and evil shall not come upon us, nor shall we see sword nor famine;
13 nid yw'r proffwydi ond gwynt, nid yw'r gair yn eu plith. Fel hyn y gwneir iddynt."
13and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
14 Am hynny, dyma air yr ARGLWYDD, Duw y Lluoedd: "Am i chwi siarad fel hyn, dyma fi'n rhoi fy ngeiriau yn dy enau fel tn, a'r bobl hyn yn gynnud, ac fe'u difa.
14Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
15 Wele, fe ddygaf yn eich erbyn, du375? Israel, genedl o bell hen genedl, cenedl o'r oesoedd gynt," medd yr ARGLWYDD, "cenedl nad wyt yn gwybod ei hiaith, nac yn deall yr hyn y mae'n ei ddweud.
15Behold, I bring a nation upon you from afar, house of Israel, saith Jehovah: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest thou what they say.
16 Y mae ei chawell saethau fel bedd agored; gwu375?r cedyrn ydynt oll.
16Their quiver is as an open sepulchre; they are all mighty men.
17 Fe ysa dy gynhaeaf a'th fara; ysa dy feibion a'th ferched; ysa dy braidd a'th wartheg; ysa dy winwydd a'th ffigyswydd; distrywia chleddyf dy ddinasoedd caerog, y dinasoedd yr wyt yn ymddiried ynddynt.
17And they shall eat up thy harvest and thy bread, they shall eat up thy sons and thy daughters, they shall eat up thy flocks and thy herds, they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig-trees; they shall destroy with the sword thy strong cities, wherein thou trustedst.
18 "Ac eto yn y dyddiau hynny," medd yr ARGLWYDD, "ni ddygaf ddiwedd llwyr arnoch.
18Nevertheless in those days, saith Jehovah, I will not make a full end with you.
19 Pan ddywedwch, 'Pam y gwnaeth yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw yr holl bethau hyn i ni?', fe ddywedi wrthynt, 'Fel y bu i chwi fy ngwrthod i, a gwasanaethu duwiau estron yn eich tir, felly y gwasanaethwch bobl ddieithr mewn gwlad nad yw'n eiddo i chwi.'
19And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah our God done all these things unto us? then shalt thou say to them, As ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
20 "Mynegwch hyn yn nhu375? Jacob, cyhoeddwch hyn yn Jwda a dweud,
20Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
21 'Clywch hyn yn awr, bobl ynfyd, ddiddeall: y mae ganddynt lygaid, ond ni welant; clustiau, ond ni chlywant.
21Hear now this, O foolish and heartless people, who have eyes and see not; who have ears, and hear not.
22 Onid oes arnoch fy ofn i?' medd yr ARGLWYDD. 'Oni chrynwch o'm blaen? Mi osodais y tywod yn derfyn i'r mr, yn derfyn sicr na all ei groesi; pan ymgasgla'r tonnau ni thyciant, pan rua'r dyfroedd nid nt drosto.
22Will ye not fear me? saith Jehovah. Will ye not tremble at my presence, who have set the sand a bound for the sea by a perpetual decree, and it shall not pass it? and its waves toss themselves, but they do not prevail; and they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
23 Ond calon wrthnysig a gwrthryfelgar sydd gan y bobl hyn; y maent yn parhau i wrthgilio.
23But this people hath a stubborn and a rebellious heart; they have turned aside and are gone.
24 Ac ni ddywedant yn eu calon, "Bydded inni ofni'r ARGLWYDD ein Duw, sy'n rhoi'r glaw, a chawodydd y gwanwyn a'r hydref yn eu pryd, a sicrhau i ni wythnosau penodedig y cynhaeaf."
24And they say not in their heart, Let us now fear Jehovah our God, that giveth rain, both the early and the latter, in its season; who preserveth unto us the appointed weeks of harvest.
25 Ond y mae eich camweddau wedi rhwystro hyn, a'ch pechodau wedi atal daioni rhagoch.
25Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden from you what is good.
26 Oherwydd cafwyd rhai drwg ymhlith fy mhobl; y maent yn gwylio fel un yn gosod magl, ac yn gosod offer dinistr i ddal pobl.
26For among my people are found wicked [men]: they lay wait, as fowlers stoop down; they set a trap, they catch men.
27 Fel y mae cawell yn llawn o adar, felly y mae eu tai yn llawn o dwyll.
27As a cage full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and have enriched themselves.
28 Trwy hynny aethant yn fawr a chyfoethog, yn dew a bras. Aethant hefyd y tu hwnt i weithredoedd drwg; ni roddant ddedfryd deg i'r amddifad, i beri iddo lwyddo, ac nid ydynt yn iawn farnu achos y tlawd.
28They are become fat, they shine, yea, they surpass in deeds of wickedness; they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, and they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not adjudge.
29 Onid ymwelaf chwi am hyn?' medd yr ARGLWYDD. 'Oni ddialaf ar y fath genedl hon?
29Shall I not visit for these things? saith Jehovah; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
30 Peth aruthr ac erchyll a ddaeth i'r wlad.
30An appalling and horrible thing is committed in the land:
31 Y mae'r proffwydi yn proffwydo celwydd, a'r offeiriaid yn cyfarwyddo'n unol hynny, a'm pobl yn hoffi'r peth. Ond beth a wnewch yn y diwedd?'"
31the prophets prophesy falsehood, and the priests rule by their means; and my people love [to have it] so. But what will ye do in the end thereof?
