1 Codasant oll yn dyrfa a dod ag ef gerbron Pilat.
1And the whole multitude of them, rising up, led him to Pilate.
2 Dechreusant ei gyhuddo gan ddweud, "Cawsom y dyn hwn yn arwain ein cenedl ar gyfeiliorn, yn gwahardd talu trethi i Gesar, ac yn honni mai ef yw'r Meseia, sef y brenin."
2And they began to accuse him, saying, We have found this [man] perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king.
3 Holodd Pilat ef: "Ai ti yw Brenin yr Iddewon?" Atebodd yntau ef, "Ti sy'n dweud hynny."
3And Pilate demanded of him saying, Art *thou* the king of the Jews? And he answering him said, Thou sayest.
4 Ac meddai Pilat wrth y prif offeiriaid a'r tyrfaoedd, "Nid wyf yn cael dim trosedd yn achos y dyn hwn."
4And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, I find no guilt in this man.
5 Ond dal i daeru yr oeddent: "Y mae'n cyffroi'r bobl 'i ddysgeidiaeth, trwy Jwdea gyfan. Dechreuodd yng Ngalilea, ac y mae wedi cyrraedd hyd yma."
5But they insisted, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee even on to here.
6 Pan glywodd Pilat hyn, gofynnodd ai Galilead oedd y dyn;
6But Pilate, having heard Galilee [named], demanded if the man were a Galilaean;
7 ac wedi deall ei fod dan awdurdod Herod, cyfeiriodd yr achos ato, gan fod Herod yntau yn Jerwsalem y dyddiau hynny.
7and having learned that he was of Herod's jurisdiction, remitted him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem in those days.
8 Pan welodd Herod Iesu, mawr oedd ei lawenydd; bu'n awyddus ers amser hir i'w weld, gan iddo glywed amdano, ac yr oedd yn gobeithio ei weld yn cyflawni rhyw wyrth.
8And when Herod saw Jesus he greatly rejoiced, for he had been a long while desirous of seeing him, because of hearing many things concerning him, and he hoped to see some sign done by him;
9 Bu'n ei holi'n faith, ond nid atebodd Iesu iddo yr un gair.
9and he questioned him in many words, but *he* answered him nothing.
10 Yr oedd y prif offeiriaid a'r ysgrifenyddion yno, yn ei gyhuddo yn ffyrnig.
10And the chief priests and the scribes stood and accused him violently.
11 A'i drin yn sarhaus a wnaeth Herod hefyd, ynghyd 'i filwyr. Fe'i gwatwarodd, a gosododd wisg ysblennydd amdano, cyn cyfeirio'r achos yn l at Pilat.
11And Herod with his troops having set him at nought and mocked him, having put a splendid robe upon him, sent him back to Pilate.
12 Daeth Herod a Philat yn gyfeillion i'w gilydd y dydd hwnnw; cyn hynny yr oedd gelyniaeth rhyngddynt.
12And Pilate and Herod became friends with one another the same day, for they had been at enmity before between themselves.
13 Galwodd Pilat y prif offeiriaid ac aelodau'r Cyngor a'r bobl ynghyd,
13And Pilate, having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 ac meddai wrthynt, "Daethoch 'r dyn hwn ger fy mron fel un sy'n arwain y bobl ar gyfeiliorn. Yn awr, yr wyf fi wedi holi'r dyn hwn yn eich gu373?ydd chwi, a heb gael ei fod yn euog o unrhyw un o'ch cyhuddiadau yn ei erbyn;
14said to them, Ye have brought to me this man as turning away the people [to rebellion], and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found nothing criminal in this man as to the things of which ye accuse him;
15 ac ni chafodd Herod chwaith, oherwydd cyfeiriodd ef ei achos yn l atom ni. Fe welwch nad yw wedi gwneud dim sy'n haeddu marwolaeth.
15nor Herod either, for I remitted you to him, and behold, nothing worthy of death is done by him.
16 Gan hynny, mi ddysgaf wers iddo 'r chwip a'i ollwng yn rhydd."
16Having chastised him therefore, I will release him.
17 [{cf15i Yr oedd yn rhaid iddo ryddhau un carcharor iddynt ar y Pasg.}]
17( Now he was obliged to release one for them at the feast.)
18 Ond gwaeddasant ag un llais, "Ymaith hwn, rhyddha Barabbas inni."
18But they cried out in a mass saying, Away with this [man] and release Barabbas to us;
19 Dyn oedd hwnnw wedi ei fwrw i garchar o achos gwrthryfel a llofruddiaeth oedd wedi digwydd yn y ddinas.
19who was one who, for a certain tumult which had taken place in the city, and [for] murder, had been cast into prison.
20 Drachefn anerchodd Pilat hwy, yn ei awydd i ryddhau Iesu,
20Pilate therefore, desirous to release Jesus, again addressed [them].
21 ond bloeddiasant hwy, "Croeshoelia ef, croeshoelia ef."
21But they cried out in reply saying, Crucify, crucify him.
22 Y drydedd waith meddai wrthynt, "Ond pa ddrwg a wnaeth ef? Ni chefais unrhyw achos i'w ddedfrydu i farwolaeth. Gan hynny, mi ddysgaf wers iddo 'r chwip a'i ollwng yn rhydd."
22And he said the third time to them, What evil then has this [man] done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will chastise him therefore and release him.
23 Ond yr oeddent yn pwyso arno 'u crochlefain byddarol, gan fynnu ei groeshoelio ef, ac yr oedd eu bonllefau yn ennill y dydd.
23But they were urgent with loud voices, begging that he might be crucified. And their voices [and those of the chief priests] prevailed.
24 Yna penderfynodd Pilat ganiatu eu cais;
24And Pilate adjudged that what they begged should take place.
25 rhyddhaodd yr hwn yr oeddent yn gofyn amdano, y dyn oedd wedi ei fwrw i garchar am wrthryfela a llofruddio, a thraddododd Iesu i'w hewyllys hwy.
25And he released him who, for tumult and murder, had been cast into prison, whom they begged for, and Jesus he delivered up to their will.
26 Wedi mynd ag ef ymaith gafaelsant yn Simon, brodor o Cyrene, a oedd ar ei ffordd o'r wlad, a gosod y groes ar ei gefn, iddo ei chario y tu l i Iesu.
26And as they led him away, they laid hold on a certain Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, and put the cross upon him to bear it behind Jesus.
27 Yr oedd tyrfa fawr o'r bobl yn ei ddilyn, ac yn eu plith wragedd yn galaru ac yn wylofain drosto.
27And a great multitude of the people, and of women who wailed and lamented him, followed him.
28 Troes Iesu atynt a dweud, "Ferched Jerwsalem, peidiwch ag wylo amdanaf fi; wylwch yn hytrach amdanoch eich hunain ac am eich plant.
28And Jesus turning round to them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep over me, but weep over yourselves and over your children;
29 Oherwydd dyma ddyddiau yn dod pan fydd pobl yn dweud, 'Gwyn eu byd y gwragedd diffrwyth a'r crothau nad esgorasant a'r bronnau na roesant sugn.'
29for behold, days are coming in which they will say, Blessed [are] the barren, and wombs that have not borne, and breasts that have not given suck.
30 Y pryd hwnnw bydd pobl yn dechrau 'Dweud wrth y mynyddoedd, "Syrthiwch arnom", ac wrth y bryniau, "Gorchuddiwch ni."'
30Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall upon us; and to the hills, Cover us:
31 Oherwydd os gwneir hyn i'r pren glas, pa beth a ddigwydd i'r pren crin?"
31for if these things are done in the green tree, what shall take place in the dry?
32 Daethpwyd ag eraill hefyd, dau droseddwr, i'w dienyddio gydag ef.
32Now two others also, malefactors, were led with him to be put to death.
33 Pan ddaethant i'r lle a elwir Y Benglog, yno croeshoeliwyd ef a'r troseddwyr, y naill ar y dde a'r llall ar y chwith iddo.
33And when they came to the place which is called Skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, the other on the left.
34 Ac meddai Iesu, "O Dad, maddau iddynt, oherwydd ni wyddant beth y maent yn ei wneud." A bwriasant goelbrennau i rannu ei ddillad.
34And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And, parting out his garments, they cast lots.
35 Yr oedd y bobl yn sefyll yno, yn gwylio. Yr oedd aelodau'r Cyngor hwythau yn ei wawdio gan ddweud, "Fe achubodd eraill; achubed ei hun, os ef yw Meseia Duw, yr Etholedig."
35And the people stood beholding, and the rulers also [with them] sneered, saying, He has saved others; let him save himself if this is the Christ, the chosen one of God.
36 Daeth y milwyr hefyd ato a'i watwar, gan gynnig gwin sur iddo,
36And the soldiers also made game of him, coming up offering him vinegar,
37 a chan ddweud, "Os ti yw Brenin yr Iddewon, achub dy hun."
37and saying, If *thou* be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 Yr oedd hefyd arysgrif uwch ei ben: "Hwn yw Brenin yr Iddewon."
38And there was also an inscription [written] over him in Greek, and Roman, and Hebrew letters: This is the King of the Jews.
39 Yr oedd un o'r troseddwyr ar ei groes yn ei gablu gan ddweud, "Onid ti yw'r Meseia? Achub dy hun a ninnau."
39Now one of the malefactors who had been hanged spoke insultingly to him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us.
40 Ond atebodd y llall, a'i geryddu: "Onid oes arnat ofn Duw, a thithau dan yr un ddedfryd?
40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost *thou* too not fear God, thou that art under the same judgment?
41 I ni, y mae hynny'n gyfiawn, oherwydd haeddiant ein gweithredoedd sy'n dod inni. Ond ni wnaeth hwn ddim o'i le."
41and *we* indeed justly, for we receive the just recompense of what we have done; but this [man] has done nothing amiss.
42 Yna dywedodd, "Iesu, cofia fi pan ddoi i'th deyrnas."
42And he said to Jesus, Remember me, [Lord,] when thou comest in thy kingdom.
43 Atebodd yntau, "Yn wir, rwy'n dweud wrthyt, heddiw byddi gyda mi ym Mharadwys."
43And Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, To-day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 Erbyn hyn yr oedd hi tua hanner dydd. Daeth tywyllwch dros yr holl wlad hyd dri o'r gloch y prynhawn,
44And it was about [the] sixth hour, and there came darkness over the whole land until [the] ninth hour.
45 a'r haul wedi diffodd. Rhwygwyd llen y deml yn ei chanol.
45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple rent in the midst.
46 Llefodd Iesu llef uchel, "O Dad, i'th ddwylo di yr wyf yn cyflwyno fy ysbryd." A chan ddweud hyn bu farw.
46And Jesus, having cried with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. And having said this, he expired.
47 Pan welodd y canwriad yr hyn oedd wedi digwydd, dechreuodd ogoneddu Duw gan ddweud, "Yn wir, dyn cyfiawn oedd hwn."
47Now the centurion, seeing what took place, glorified God, saying, In very deed this man was just.
48 Ac wedi gweld yr hyn a ddigwyddodd, troes yr holl dyrfaoedd, a oedd wedi ymgynnull i wylio'r olygfa, tuag adref gan guro eu bronnau.
48And all the crowds who had come together to that sight, having seen the things that took place, returned, beating [their] breasts.
49 Yr oedd ei holl gyfeillion, ynghyd 'r gwragedd oedd wedi ei ddilyn ef o Galilea, yn sefyll yn y pellter ac yn gweld y pethau hyn.
49And all those who knew him stood afar off, the women also who had followed him from Galilee, beholding these things.
50 Yr oedd dyn o'r enw Joseff, aelod o'r Cyngor a dyn da a chyfiawn,
50And behold, a man named Joseph, who was a councillor, a good man and a just
51 nad oedd wedi cydsynio 'u penderfyniad a'u gweithred hwy. Yr oedd yn hanu o Arimathea, un o drefi'r Iddewon, ac yn disgwyl am deyrnas Dduw.
51(this [man] had not assented to their counsel and deed), of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who also waited, [himself also,] for the kingdom of God
52 Aeth hwn at Pilat a gofyn am gorff Iesu.
52-- he having gone to Pilate begged the body of Jesus;
53 Wedi ei dynnu ef i lawr a'i amdi mewn lliain, gosododd ef mewn bedd wedi ei naddu, lle nad oedd neb hyd hynny wedi gorwedd.
53and having taken it down, wrapped it in fine linen and placed him in a tomb hewn in the rock, where no one had ever been laid.
54 Dydd y Paratoad oedd hi, ac yr oedd y Saboth ar ddechrau.
54And it was preparation day, and [the] sabbath twilight was coming on.
55 Fe ddilynodd y gwragedd oedd wedi dod gyda Iesu o Galilea, a gwelsant y bedd a'r modd y gosodwyd ei gorff.
55And women, who had come along with him out of Galilee, having followed, saw the sepulchre and how his body was placed.
56 Yna aethant yn eu holau i baratoi peraroglau ac eneiniau. Ar y Saboth buont yn gorffwys yn l y gorchymyn.
56And having returned they prepared aromatic spices and ointments, and remained quiet on the sabbath, according to the commandment.
