Darby's Translation

Luke

3

1 Yn y bymthegfed flwyddyn o deyrnasiad Tiberius Cesar, pan oedd Pontius Pilat yn llywodraethu ar Jwdea, a Herod yn dywysog Galilea, a phan oedd Philip ei frawd yn dywysog tiriogaeth Itwrea a Trachonitis, a Lysanias yn dywysog Abilene,
1Now in the fifteenth year of the government of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of Ituraea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2 ac yn amser archoffeiriadaeth Annas a Caiaffas, daeth gair Duw at Ioan fab Sachareias yn yr anialwch.
2in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, [the] word of God came upon John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.
3 Aeth ef drwy'r holl wlad oddi amgylch yr Iorddonen gan gyhoeddi bedydd edifeirwch yn foddion maddeuant pechodau,
3And he came into all the district round the Jordan, preaching [the] baptism of repentance for [the] remission of sins,
4 fel y mae'n ysgrifenedig yn llyfr geiriau'r proffwyd Eseia: "Llais un yn galw yn yr anialwch, 'Paratowch ffordd yr Arglwydd, unionwch y llwybrau iddo.
4as it is written in [the] book of [the] words of Esaias the prophet: Voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of [the] Lord, make straight his paths.
5 Caiff pob ceulan ei llenwi, a phob mynydd a bryn ei lefelu; gwneir y llwybrau troellog yn union, a'r ffyrdd garw yn llyfn;
5Every gorge shall be filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked [places] shall become a straight [path], and the rough places smooth ways,
6 a bydd y ddynolryw oll yn gweld iachawdwriaeth Duw.'"
6and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 Dywedai wrth y tyrfaoedd oedd yn dod allan i'w bedyddio ganddo: "Chwi epil gwiberod, pwy a'ch rhybuddiodd i ffoi rhag y digofaint sydd i ddod?
7He said therefore to the crowds which went out to be baptised by him, Offspring of vipers, who has forewarned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 Dygwch ffrwythau gan hynny a fydd yn deilwng o'ch edifeirwch. Peidiwch dechrau dweud wrthych eich hunain, 'Y mae gennym Abraham yn dad', oherwydd rwy'n dweud wrthych y gall Duw godi plant i Abraham o'r cerrig hyn.
8Produce therefore fruits worthy of repentance; and begin not to say in yourselves, We have Abraham for [our] father, for I say unto you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
9 Ac y mae'r fwyell eisoes wrth wraidd y coed; felly, y mae pob coeden nad yw'n dwyn ffrwyth da yn cael ei thorri i lawr a'i bwrw i'r tn."
9And already also the axe is applied to the root of the trees; every tree therefore not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into [the] fire.
10 Gofynnai'r tyrfaoedd iddo, "Beth a wnawn ni felly?"
10And the crowds asked him saying, What should we do then?
11 Atebai yntau, "Rhaid i'r sawl sydd ganddo ddau grys eu rhannu ag unrhyw un sydd heb grys, a rhaid i'r sawl sydd ganddo fwyd wneud yr un peth."
11And he answering says to them, He that has two body-coats, let him give to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise.
12 Daeth casglwyr trethi hefyd i'w bedyddio, ac meddent wrtho, "Athro, beth a wnawn ni?"
12And tax-gatherers came also to be baptised, and they said to him, Teacher, what should we do?
13 Meddai yntau wrthynt, "Peidiwch mynnu dim mwy na'r swm a bennwyd ichwi."
13And he said to them, Take no more [money] than what is appointed to you.
14 Byddai dynion ar wasanaeth milwrol hefyd yn gofyn iddo, "Beth a wnawn ninnau?" Meddai wrthynt, "Peidiwch ag ysbeilio neb trwy drais neu gamgyhuddiad, ond byddwch fodlon ar eich cyflog."
14And persons engaged in military service also asked him saying, And we, what should we do? And he said to them, Oppress no one, nor accuse falsely, and be satisfied with your pay.
15 Gan fod y bobl yn disgwyl, a phawb yn ystyried yn ei galon tybed ai Ioan oedd y Meseia,
15But as the people were in expectation, and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John whether *he* might be the Christ,
16 dywedodd ef wrth bawb: "Yr wyf fi yn eich bedyddio du373?r; ond y mae un cryfach na mi yn dod. Nid wyf fi'n deilwng i ddatod carrai ei sandalau ef. Bydd ef yn eich bedyddio 'r Ysbryd Gln ac thn.
16John answered all, saying, *I* indeed baptise you with water, but the mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not fit to unloose; *he* shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit and fire;
17 Y mae ei wyntyll yn barod yn ei law, i nithio'n ln yr hyn a ddyrnwyd, ac i gasglu'r grawn i'w ysgubor. Ond am yr us, bydd yn llosgi hwnnw thn anniffoddadwy."
17whose winnowing-fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his threshing-floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner, but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
18 Fel hyn, a chyda llawer anogaeth arall hefyd, yr oedd yn cyhoeddi'r newydd da i'r bobl.
18Exhorting then many other things also he announced [his] glad tidings to the people.
19 Ond gan ei fod yn ceryddu'r Tywysog Herod ynglu375?n Herodias, gwraig ei frawd, ac ynglu375?n 'i holl weithredoedd drygionus,
19But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him as to Herodias, the wife of his brother, and as to all the wicked things which Herod had done,
20 ychwan-egodd Herod y drygioni hwn at y cwbl, sef cloi Ioan yng ngharchar.
20added this also to all [the rest], that he shut up John in prison.
21 Pan oedd yr holl bobl yn cael eu bedyddio, yr oedd Iesu, ar l ei fedydd ef, yn gweddo. Agorwyd y nef,
21And it came to pass, all the people having been baptised, and Jesus having been baptised and praying, that the heaven was opened,
22 a disgynnodd yr Ysbryd Gln arno mewn ffurf gorfforol fel colomen; a daeth llais o'r nef: "Ti yw fy Mab, yr Anwylyd; ynot ti yr wyf yn ymhyfrydu."
22and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove upon him; and a voice came out of heaven, *Thou* art my beloved Son, in thee I have found my delight.
23 Tua deng mlwydd ar hugain oed oedd Iesu ar ddechrau ei weinidogaeth. Yr oedd yn fab, yn l y dybiaeth gyffredin, i Joseff fab Eli,
