1 Yr adeg honno casglodd y Philistiaid eu lluoedd arfog i ryfela ag Israel. Dywedodd Achis wrth Ddafydd, "Yr wyf am i ti wybod dy fod ti a'th ddynion i fynd allan gyda mi yn y fyddin."
1It happened in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, “Know assuredly that you shall go out with me in the army, you and your men.”
2 Dywedodd Dafydd, "Cei wybod felly beth a all dy was ei wneud." Ac meddai Achis, "Am hynny yr wyf yn dy benodi'n warchodwr personol i mi am byth."
2David said to Achish, “Therefore you shall know what your servant will do.” Achish said to David, “Therefore will I make you my bodyguard for ever.”
3 Yr oedd Samuel wedi marw, ac yr oedd Israel gyfan wedi galaru amdano a'i gladdu yn ei dref ei hun, Rama. Ac yr oedd Saul wedi gyrru ymaith y dewiniaid a'r swynwyr o'r wlad.
3Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Saul had put away those who had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
4 Pan ymgasglodd y Philistiaid a dod a gwersyllu yn Sunem, fe gasglodd Saul Israel gyfan a gwersyllu yn Gilboa.
4The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa.
5 Ond, pan welodd Saul wersyll y Philistiaid, cododd ofn a dychryn mawr yn ei galon.
5When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.
6 Ceisiodd Saul yr ARGLWYDD, ond nid oedd yr ARGLWYDD yn ateb trwy freuddwydion na bwrw coelbren na phroffwydi.
6When Saul inquired of Yahweh, Yahweh didn’t answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Yna dywedodd Saul wrth ei weision, "Chwiliwch am ddewines, imi ymweld hi i ofyn ei chyngor."
7Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek me a woman who has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her.” His servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who has a familiar spirit at Endor.”
8 Dywedodd ei weision wrtho, "Y mae yna ddewines yn Endor." Newidiodd Saul ei ymddangosiad, a gwisgo dillad gwahanol, ac aeth dau ddyn gydag ef a dod at y ddynes liw nos a dweud, "Consuria imi trwy ysbryd, a dwg i fyny ataf y sawl a ddywedaf wrthyt."
8Saul disguised himself, and put on other clothing, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, “Please divine to me by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomever I shall name to you.”
9 Dywedodd y ddynes wrtho, "Fe wyddost beth a wnaeth Saul, ei fod wedi difa'r dewiniaid a'r swynwyr o'r wlad; pam felly yr wyt ti'n ceisio fy rhwydo a'm lladd?"
9The woman said to him, “Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?”
10 Tyngodd Saul iddi yn enw'r ARGLWYDD, "Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, ni ddaw dim niwed iti o hyn."
10Saul swore to her by Yahweh, saying, “As Yahweh lives, no punishment shall happen to you for this thing.”
11 Yna gofynnodd hi, "Pwy a ddygaf i fyny iti?" Dywedodd yntau, "Dwg Samuel i fyny imi."
11Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up to you?” He said, “Bring Samuel up for me.”
12 Pan welodd y ddynes Samuel, gwaeddodd llais uchel, a dweud wrth Saul, "Pam yr wyt wedi fy nhwyllo? Saul wyt ti."
12When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!”
13 Dywedodd y brenin wrthi, "Paid ag ofni; beth wyt yn ei weld?" Ac meddai'r ddynes wrth Saul, "'Rwy'n gweld ysbryd yn dod i fyny o'r ddaear."
13The king said to her, “Don’t be afraid. For what do you see?” The woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.”
14 Gofynnodd yntau, "Sut ffurf sydd iddo?" Atebodd hithau, "Hen u373?r yn gwisgo mantell sy'n dod i fyny." Deallodd Saul mai Samuel oedd, a gostyngodd ar ei wyneb i'r llawr ac ymgrymu.
14He said to her, “What does he look like?” She said, “An old man comes up. He is covered with a robe.” Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and showed respect.
15 Yna dywedodd Samuel wrth Saul, "Pam yr wyt wedi aflonyddu arnaf a dod mi i fyny?" Atebodd Saul, "Y mae'n gyfyng iawn arnaf; y mae'r Philistiaid yn rhyfela yn f'erbyn, a Duw wedi fy ngadael; nid yw'n fy ateb mwyach drwy na phroffwydi na breuddwydion, a gelwais arnat ti i ddweud wrthyf beth i'w wneud."
15Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me, to bring me up?” Saul answered, “I am very distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me, and answers me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I shall do.”
16 Ac meddai Samuel, "Ond pam yr wyt yn gofyn i mi, a'r ARGLWYDD wedi dy adael a dod yn wrthwynebwr iti?
16Samuel said, “Why then do you ask of me, since Yahweh has departed from you and has become your adversary?
17 Y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi gwneud fel y dywedodd trwof fi, ac wedi rhwygo'r deyrnas o'th law di a'i rhoi i'th gymydog Dafydd.
17Yahweh has done to you as he spoke by me. Yahweh has torn the kingdom out of your hand, and given it to your neighbor, even to David.
18 Am na wrandewaist ar lais yr ARGLWYDD, na gweithredu llymder ei lid yn erbyn yr Amaleciaid, dyna pam y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi gwneud hyn i ti heddiw.
18Because you didn’t obey the voice of Yahweh, and didn’t execute his fierce wrath on Amalek, therefore Yahweh has done this thing to you this day.
19 Bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn rhoi Israel a thithau hefyd yn llaw'r Philistiaid; yfory byddi di a'th feibion gyda mi, a bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn rhoi byddin Israel yn llaw'r Philistiaid."
19Moreover Yahweh will deliver Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines; and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. Yahweh will deliver the army of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.”
20 Syrthiodd Saul ar unwaith ar ei hyd ar lawr, mewn ofn enbyd oherwydd geiriau Samuel, ac aeth yn gwbl ddiymadferth am nad oedd wedi bwyta tamaid am ddiwrnod a noson gyfan.
20Then Saul fell immediately his full length on the earth, and was terrified, because of the words of Samuel. There was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
21 Pan ddaeth y ddynes at Saul gwelai ei fod wedi cynhyrfu drwyddo, a dywedodd wrtho, "Edrych, fe wrandawodd dy was-anaethferch arnat, a chymerais fy mywyd yn fy nwylo trwy wrando ar yr hyn a ddywedaist wrthyf;
21The woman came to Saul, and saw that he was very troubled, and said to him, “Behold, your handmaid has listened to your voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have listened to your words which you spoke to me.
22 yn awr, gwrando dithau ar dy wasanaethferch, a gad imi osod o'th flaen damaid o fwyd iti ei fwyta, er mwyn adfer dy nerth ar gyfer dy daith."
22Now therefore, please listen also to the voice of your handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength, when you go on your way.”
23 Ond gwrthododd, a dweud nad oedd am fwyta. Wedi i'w weision a'r ddynes bwyso arno, gwrandawodd arnynt, a chodi oddi ar lawr ac eistedd ar y gwely.
23But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he listened to their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat on the bed.
24 Yr oedd gan y ddynes lo pasgedig yn y cwt, a brysiodd i'w ladd; hefyd cymerodd flawd a'i dylino a phobi bara croyw.
24The woman had a fattened calf in the house. She hurried and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread of it.
25 Yna fe'u gosododd o flaen Saul a'i weision; ac wedi iddynt fwyta, aethant ymaith ar unwaith y noson honno.
25She brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they ate. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
