1 Wedi hyn, dechreuodd y Moabiaid a'r Ammoniaid, gyda rhai o'r Meuniaid ryfela yn erbyn Jehosaffat.
1It happened after this, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
2 Daeth rhywrai at Jehosaffat a dweud wrtho, "Y mae mintai fawr yn dod yn dy erbyn o Edom, o'r ochr draw i'r mr, ac y mae hi eisoes yn Hasason-tamar" (hynny yw, En-gedi).
2Then some came who told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea from Syria. Behold, they are in Hazazon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi).
3 Yn ei ddychryn penderfynodd Jehosaffat geisio'r ARGLWYDD, a chyhoeddodd ympryd trwy holl Jwda.
3Jehoshaphat was alarmed, and set himself to seek to Yahweh. He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
4 Yna ymgasglodd pobl Jwda i ofyn am gymorth gan yr ARGLWYDD; daethant o bob un o'u dinasoedd i'w geisio ef.
4Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help from Yahweh. They came out of all the cities of Judah to seek Yahweh.
5 Yn y cynulliad hwn o bobl Jwda a Jerwsalem yn nhu375? yr ARGLWYDD, fe safodd Jehosaffat o flaen y cyntedd newydd,
5Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Yahweh, before the new court;
6 a dweud, "O ARGLWYDD, Duw ein hynafiaid, onid ti sy'n Dduw yn y nefoedd? Ti sy'n llywodraethu ar holl deyrnasoedd y cenhedloedd; yn dy law di y mae nerth a chadernid, fel na ddichon neb dy wrthsefyll.
6and he said, “Yahweh, the God of our fathers, aren’t you God in heaven? Aren’t you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.
7 Onid ti, ein Duw, a yrraist drigolion y wlad hon allan o flaen dy bobl Israel, a'i rhoi hi am byth i had Abraham, dy gyfaill?
7Didn’t you, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham your friend forever?
8 Y maent hwy wedi byw ynddi ac wedi adeiladu cysegr i'th enw di, a dweud,
8They lived in it, and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying,
9 'Os daw unrhyw niwed i ni trwy gleddyf, llifeiriant, haint neu newyn, yna fe safwn o'th flaen di ac o flaen y tu375? hwn, oherwydd y mae dy enw arno. Gwaeddwn arnat yn ein trybini, ac fe wrandewi di arnom a'n gwaredu.'
9‘If evil comes on us—the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this house, and before you, (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.’
10 Yn awr, dyma'r Ammoniaid, y Moabiaid a gwu375?r Mynydd Seir, pobl na adewaist i Israel ymosod arnynt wrth ddod allan o'r Aifft, pobl y troes Israel i ffwrdd oddi wrthynt a pheidio 'u difetha;
10Now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and didn’t destroy them;
11 gwl sut y mae'r rhain yn talu'n l i ni trwy ddod i'n gyrru allan o'th etifeddiaeth, a roddaist i ni.
11behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.
12 O ein Duw, oni wnei di gyhoeddi barn arnynt? Oherwydd nid ydym ni'n ddigon cryf i wrthsefyll y fintai fawr hon sy'n dod yn ein herbyn. Ni wyddom ni beth i'w wneud, ond dibynnwn arnat ti."
12Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
13 Yr oedd holl wu375?r Jwda, gyda'u rhai bach, eu gwragedd a'u plant, yn sefyll o flaen yr ARGLWYDD.
13All Judah stood before Yahweh, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
14 Yr oedd Jehasiel fab Sechareia, fab Benaia, fab Jeiel, fab Mattaneia, Lefiad o dylwyth Asaff, yng nghanol y cynulliad; daeth ysbryd yr ARGLWYDD arno,
14Then the Spirit of Yahweh came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly;
15 a dywedodd, "Gwrandewch, holl Jwda a thrigolion Jerwsalem ynghyd 'r brenin Jehosaffat. Y mae'r ARGLWYDD yn dweud wrthych am beidio ag ofni na digalonni o achos y fintai fawr yma, oherwydd brwydr Duw yw hon, nid eich brwydr chwi.
15and he said, “Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat. Thus says Yahweh to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
16 Ewch i lawr yn eu herbyn yfory, pan fyddant yn dringo rhiw Sis, ac fe'u cewch ym mhen draw'r dyffryn, yn ymyl anialwch Jerual.
16Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz. You shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Ni fydd raid i chwi ymladd yn y frwydr hon; safwch yn llonydd yn eich lle, ac fe welwch y fuddugoliaeth a rydd yr ARGLWYDD ichwi, O Jwda a Jerwsalem. Peidiwch ag ofni na digalonni; ewch allan yn eu herbyn yfory, a bydd yr ARGLWYDD gyda chwi."
17You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for Yahweh is with you.’”
18 Yna fe ymgrymodd Jehosaffat i'r llawr, a syrthiodd holl Jwda a thrigolion Jerwsalem o flaen yr ARGLWYDD a'i addoli.
18Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Yahweh, worshipping Yahweh.
19 Yna safodd y Lefiaid oedd yn perthyn i'r Cohathiaid a'r Corahiaid i foliannu'r ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, bloedd uchel.
19The Levites, of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.
20 Felly, codasant yn fore a mynd i anialwch Tecoa. Fel yr oeddent yn cychwyn, safodd Jehosaffat a dweud, "Gwrandewch arnaf fi, Jwda a thrigolion Jerwsalem. Ymddiriedwch yn yr ARGLWYDD eich Duw, ac fe fyddwch yn ddiogel; credwch yn ei broffwydi, ac fe lwyddwch."
20They rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in Yahweh your God, so you shall be established! Believe his prophets, so you shall prosper.”
21 Wedi ymgynghori 'r bobl, penododd gantorion i foli'r ARGLWYDD, ac i ganu mawl i brydferthwch ei sancteiddrwydd, wrth fynd allan ar flaen y fyddin. Dywedasant, "Diolchwch i'r ARGLWYDD, oherwydd y mae ei gariad hyd byth."
21When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to Yahweh, and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks to Yahweh; for his loving kindness endures forever.
22 Fel yr oeddent yn dechrau canu a moli, gosododd yr ARGLWYDD gynllwyn yn erbyn yr Ammoniaid a'r Moabiaid a gwu375?r Mynydd Seir, a oedd yn ymosod ar Jwda, a chawsant eu gorchfygu.
22When they began to sing and to praise, Yahweh set ambushers against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were struck.
23 Trodd yr Ammoniaid a'r Moabiaid i ymosod ar drigolion Mynydd Seir, a'u difa'n llwyr; ac wedi iddynt eu difodi hwy aethant ymlaen i ddifetha'i gilydd.
23For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, utterly to kill and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy another.
24 Pan gyrhaeddodd Jwda wylfa ger yr anialwch, a throi i edrych ar y fintai, gwelsant gyrff y meirw ar y llawr ym mhobman; nid oedd neb wedi dianc.
24When Judah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they looked at the multitude; and behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none who escaped.
25 Daeth Jehosaffat a'i filwyr i'w hysbeilio, a chawsant arnynt lawer o olud a gwisgoedd, ac eiddo gwerthfawr. Yr oedd ganddynt fwy o ysbail nag y gallent ei gario, ac am fod cymaint ohono buont am dridiau yn ei gludo.
25When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their spoil, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.
26 Ar y pedwerydd dydd daethant ynghyd i ddyffryn Beracha; am iddynt fendithio'r ARGLWYDD yno, gelwir y lle yn ddyffryn Beracha hyd heddiw.
26On the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah; for there they blessed Yahweh: therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah to this day.
27 Yna dychwelodd holl filwyr Jwda a Jerwsalem dan arweiniad Jehosaffat i Jerwsalem mewn llawenydd, am i'r ARGLWYDD roi buddugoliaeth iddynt dros eu gelynion;
27Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in their forefront, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Yahweh had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
28 daethant i du375?'r ARGLWYDD yn Jerwsalem gyda nablau, telynau a thrwmpedau.
28They came to Jerusalem with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets to the house of Yahweh.
29 Daeth ofn Duw ar holl deyrnasoedd y gwledydd pan glywsant fod yr ARGLWYDD wedi ymladd yn erbyn gelynion Israel.
29The fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that Yahweh fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 Felly cafodd teyrnas Jehosaffat heddwch, a rhoddodd ei Dduw lonydd iddo oddi wrth bawb o'i amgylch.
30So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet; for his God gave him rest all around.
31 Teyrnasodd Jehosaffat ar Jwda. Pymtheg ar hugain oedd ei oed pan ddaeth i'r orsedd, a theyrnasodd am bum mlynedd ar hugain yn Jerwsalem. Asuba ferch Silhi oedd enw ei fam.
31Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
32 Dilynodd lwybr ei dad Asa yn hollol ddiwyro, a gwneud yr hyn oedd yn uniawn yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD.
32He walked in the way of Asa his father, and didn’t turn aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh.
33 Er hynny, ni symudwyd yr uchelfeydd, ac nid oedd y bobl eto wedi gosod eu bryd ar Dduw eu hynafiaid.
33However the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts to the God of their fathers.
34 Y mae gweddill hanes Jehosaffat, o'r dechrau i'r diwedd, wedi ei ysgrifennu yng nghronicl Jehu fab Hanani, sydd wedi ei gynnwys yn Llyfr Brenhinoedd Israel.
34Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.
35 Wedi hyn gwnaeth Jehosaffat brenin Jwda gynghrair 'r drwg-weithredwr, Ahaseia brenin Israel.
35After this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah king of Israel. The same did very wickedly:
36 Cydweithiodd ag ef i wneud llongau i fynd i Tarsis, a'u hadeiladu yn Esion-Geber.
36and he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish; and they made the ships in Ezion Geber.
37 Ond proffwydodd Elieser fab Dodafa o Maresa yn erbyn Jehosaffat, a dweud, "Am i ti wneud cynghrair ag Ahaseia, fe ddryllia yr ARGLWYDD dy waith." Felly dinistriwyd y llongau, ac ni allent hwylio i Tarsis.
37Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, Yahweh has destroyed your works.” The ships were broken, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
