2 Samuel

2

1 Wedi hyn ymofynnodd Dafydd 'r ARGLWYDD a gofyn, "A af i fyny i un o drefi Jwda?" Dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrtho, "Dos." Gofynnodd Dafydd, "I ba un?" Atebodd yr ARGLWYDD, "I Hebron."
1It happened after this, that David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up.” David said, “Where shall I go up?” He said, “To Hebron.”
2 Felly fe aeth Dafydd i fyny yno, a'i ddwy wraig, Ahinoam o Jesreel ac Abigail, gwraig Nabal, o Garmel;
2So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
3 hefyd fe aeth Dafydd 'r gwu375?r oedd ganddo, bob un 'i deulu, a thrigo yn nhref Hebron.
3David brought up his men who were with him, every man with his household. They lived in the cities of Hebron.
4 Yna daeth gwu375?r Jwda, ac eneinio Dafydd yno yn frenin ar du375? Jwda. Dywedwyd wrth Ddafydd mai gwu375?r Jabes-gilead oedd wedi claddu Saul,
4The men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. They told David, saying, “The men of Jabesh Gilead were those who buried Saul.”
5 ac anfonodd Dafydd negeswyr atynt a dweud wrthynt, "Bendith yr ARGLWYDD arnoch am ichwi wneud y gymwynas hon 'ch arglwydd Saul, a'i gladdu.
5David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, “Blessed are you by Yahweh, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him.
6 Ac yn awr bydded i'r ARGLWYDD ddangos caredigrwydd a ffyddlondeb atoch chwithau; a gwnaf finnau ddaioni i chwi, am ichwi wneud y peth hwn.
6Now may Yahweh show loving kindness and truth to you. I also will reward you for this kindness, because you have done this thing.
7 Byddwch gryf a dewr yn awr; y mae eich arglwydd Saul wedi marw, ond y mae tu375? Jwda wedi f'eneinio i yn frenin arnynt."
7Now therefore let your hands be strong, and be valiant; for Saul your lord is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.”
8 Yr oedd Abner fab Ner, cadfridog Saul, wedi cymryd Isboseth fab Saul ac wedi mynd ag ef drosodd i Mahanaim.
8Now Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul’s army, had taken Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
9 Gwnaeth ef yn frenin dros Gilead, pobl Aser, Jesreel, Effraim a Benjamin, a thros Israel gyfan.
9and he made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
10 Deugain oed oedd Isboseth fab Saul pan ddaeth yn frenin ar Israel, a theyrnasodd am ddwy flynedd; ond yr oedd tu375? Jwda yn dilyn Dafydd.
10Ishbosheth, Saul’s son, was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.
11 Saith mlynedd a chwe mis oedd hyd y cyfnod y bu Dafydd yn frenin ar du375? Jwda yn Hebron.
11The time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
12 Aeth Abner fab Ner gyda dilynwyr Isboseth allan o Mahanaim tua Gibeon.
12Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13 Aeth Joab fab Serfia a dilynwyr Dafydd allan hefyd; a chyfarfu'r ddau wrth bwll Gibeon, gyda'r naill fintai ar un ochr i'r pwll, a'r llall yr ochr arall.
13Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met them by the pool of Gibeon; and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
14 Ac meddai Abner wrth Joab, "Gad i'r llanciau ddod a chynnal gornest o'n blaenau." Cytunodd Joab.
14Abner said to Joab, “Please let the young men arise and play before us!” Joab said, “Let them arise!”
15 Yna daethant ymlaen, a chyfrifwyd deuddeg o lwyth Benjamin ar ochr Isboseth fab Saul, a deuddeg o blith dilynwyr Dafydd.
15Then they arose and went over by number: twelve for Benjamin, and for Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16 Cydiodd pob un ym mhen ei wrthwynebydd a thrywanu ei gleddyf i'w ystlys, a syrthiodd y cwbl gyda'i gilydd; am hynny galwyd y lle hwnnw sydd yn Gibeon yn Helcath-hasurim.
16They each caught his opponent by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow’s side; so they fell down together: therefore that place was called Helkath Hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
17 Bu brwydr galed iawn y diwrnod hwnnw, a threchwyd Abner fab Ner a'r Israeliaid gan ddilynwyr Dafydd.
17The battle was very severe that day: and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
18 Yr oedd tri mab Serfia yno, Joab, Abisai ac Asahel; ac yr oedd Asahel cyn gyflymed ei draed ag unrhyw ewig ar y ddl.
18The three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild gazelle.
19 Rhedodd Asahel ar l Abner heb wyro i'r dde na'r chwith oddi ar ei l.
19Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he didn’t turn to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
20 Edrychodd Abner o'i l a dywedodd, "Ai ti sydd yna, Asahel?" Atebodd yntau, "Ie."
20Then Abner looked behind him, and said, “Is it you, Asahel?” He answered, “It is I.”
21 Dywedodd Abner wrtho, "Tro draw i'r dde neu i'r chwith, a dal un o'r llanciau, a chymer ei arfau ef." Ond ni fynnai Asahel droi oddi ar ei l.
21Abner said to him, “Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and grab one of the young men, and take his armor.” But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
22 Dywedodd Abner eto wrth Asahel, "Tro draw oddi wrthyf; pam y mae'n rhaid imi dy daro i'r llawr? Sut y gallwn wynebu dy frawd Joab?"
22Abner said again to Asahel, “Turn aside from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then should I hold up my face to Joab your brother?”
23 Ond gwrthododd droi draw, a thrawodd Abner ef yn ei fol bn ei waywffon, nes iddi ddod allan trwy ei gefn. Syrthiodd i lawr, ac yno y bu farw. Ac wrth ddod heibio'r fan y bu i Asahel syrthio a marw, safai pawb yn ei unfan.
23However he refused to turn aside. Therefore Abner with the back end of the spear struck him in the body, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place. It happened, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
24 Ond daliodd Joab ac Abisai i ymlid ar l Abner, ac fel yr oedd yr haul yn machlud, daethant at fryn Amma sydd gyferbyn Gia, i gyfeiriad anialwch Gibeon.
24But Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they had come to the hill of Ammah, that lies before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
25 Ymgasglodd y Benjaminiaid at Abner, ac ymffurfio'n un fintai a sefyll ar gopa bryn Amma.
25The children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one band, and stood on the top of a hill.
26 Yna gwaeddodd Abner ar Joab a dweud, "A yw'r cleddyf i ddifa am byth? Oni wyddost mai chwerw fydd diwedd hyn? Am ba hyd y gwrthodi ddweud wrth y milwyr am beidio ag erlid eu perthnasau?"
26Then Abner called to Joab, and said, “Shall the sword devour forever? Don’t you know that it will be bitterness in the latter end? How long shall it be then, before you ask the people to return from following their brothers?”
27 Atebodd Joab, "Cyn wired bod Duw yn fyw, oni bai dy fod wedi siarad, ni fyddai'r milwyr wedi peidio ag ymlid eu perthnasau tan y bore."
27Joab said, “As God lives, if you had not spoken, surely then in the morning the people would have gone away, and not each followed his brother.”
28 Yna seiniodd Joab yr utgorn, a pheidiodd yr holl bobl ag ymlid yr Israeliaid, na brwydro rhagor.
28So Joab blew the trumpet; and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
29 Aeth Abner a'i ddynion ar draws yr Araba drwy'r nos, a chroesi'r Iorddonen, a dal ymlaen drwy gydol y bore nes dod i Mahanaim.
29Abner and his men went all that night through the Arabah; and they passed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and came to Mahanaim.
30 A phan ddaeth Joab yn ei l o ddilyn Abner, fe gasglodd y bobl ynghyd, ac yr oedd pedwar ar bymtheg o ddilynwyr Dafydd yn eisiau, yn ogystal ag Asahel.
30Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David’s servants nineteen men and Asahel.
31 Yr oedd dilynwyr Dafydd wedi lladd o blith Benjamin dri chant a thrigain o filwyr Abner. Cymerwyd Asahel a'i gladdu ym medd ei dad ym Methlehem.
31But the servants of David had struck of Benjamin, and of Abner’s men, so that three hundred sixty men died.
32 Yna cerddodd Joab a'i ddynion drwy'r nos, a chyrraedd Hebron fel yr oedd yn dyddio.
32They took up Asahel, and buried him in the tomb of his father, which was in Bethlehem. Joab and his men went all night, and the day broke on them at Hebron.
