2 Samuel

20

1 Yr oedd yn digwydd bod yno ddihiryn o'r enw Seba fab Bichri, o lwyth Benjamin. Canodd ef yr utgorn a chyhoeddi, "Nid oes i ni gyfran yn Nafydd, nac etifeddiaeth ym mab Jesse. Pob un i'w babell, O Israel!"
1There happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew the trumpet, and said, “We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, Israel!”
2 Yna ciliodd yr Israeliaid oddi wrth Ddafydd, a dilyn Seba fab Bichri; ond glynodd y Jwdeaid wrth eu brenin bob cam, o'r Iorddonen i Jerwsalem.
2So all the men of Israel went up from following David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah joined with their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
3 Wedi i'r Brenin Dafydd gyrraedd Jerwsalem, cymerodd y deg gor-dderchwraig a adawyd i ofalu am y tu375?, a'u rhoi dan warchod; yr oedd yn rhoi eu cynhaliaeth iddynt, ond heb fynd i mewn atynt. A buont dan glo hyd ddydd eu marwolaeth, yn byw fel gweddwon.
3David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody, and provided them with sustenance, but didn’t go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.
4 Yna dywedodd y brenin wrth Amasa, "Galw ynghyd ataf filwyr Jwda, a bydd yn l yma o fewn tridiau."
4Then the king said to Amasa, “Call me the men of Judah together within three days, and be here present.”
5 Aeth Amasa i alw Jwda ynghyd, ond oedodd yn hwy na'r amser penodedig.
5So Amasa went to call the men of Judah together; but he stayed longer than the set time which he had appointed him.
6 Ac meddai Dafydd wrth Abisai, "Yn awr bydd Seba fab Bichri yn creu mwy o helynt inni nag Absalom; cymer fy ngweision ac erlid ar ei l, rhag iddo gyrraedd dinasoedd caerog a diflannu o'n golwg."
6David said to Abishai, “Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your lord’s servants, and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.”
7 Dilynwyd Abisai gan Joab a'r Cerethiaid a'r Pelethiaid a'r holl filwyr profiadol, a gadawsant Jerwsalem i erlid ar l Seba fab Bichri. Pan oeddent wrth y maen mawr yn Gibeon, daeth Amasa i'w cyfarfod.
7There went out after him Joab’s men, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
8 Yr oedd Joab wedi gwregysu'r fantell yr oedd yn ei gwisgo, a throsti yr oedd gwregys ei gleddyf a oedd mewn gwain wedi ei rhwymo ar ei lwynau; ac wrth iddo symud ymlaen, fe syrthiodd y cleddyf.
8When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was clothed in his apparel of war that he had put on, and on it was a sash with a sword fastened on his waist in its sheath; and as he went forth it fell out.
9 Wedi i Joab ddweud wrth Amasa, "Sut yr wyt ti, fy mrawd?" gafaelodd 'i law dde ym marf Amasa i'w gusanu.
9Joab said to Amasa, “Is it well with you, my brother?” Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
10 Nid oedd Amasa wedi sylwi ar y cleddyf oedd yn llaw Joab, a thrawodd Joab ef yn ei fol nes i'w ymysgaroedd ddisgyn i'r llawr, a bu farw heb ail ergyd. Yna aeth Joab a'i frawd Abisai yn eu blaen ar l Seba fab Bichri.
10But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab’s hand. So he struck him with it in the body, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and didn’t strike him again; and he died. Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
11 Safodd un o lanciau Joab wrth y corff a dweud, "Pwy bynnag sy'n fodlon ar Joab, a phwy bynnag sydd o blaid Dafydd, canlynwch Joab."
11There stood by him one of Joab’s young men, and said, “He who favors Joab, and he who is for David, let him follow Joab!”
12 Yr oedd Amasa'n gorwedd yn bentwr gwaedlyd ar ganol yr heol, a phan welodd y dyn fod y bobl i gyd yn sefyll, symudodd Amasa o'r heol i'r cae a bwrw dilledyn drosto.
12Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the midst of the highway. When the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a garment over him, when he saw that everyone who came by him stood still.
13 Yr oedd pawb a ddi heibio wedi bod yn sefyll wrth ei weld; ond wedi iddo gael ei symud o'r heol, yr oedd pawb yn dilyn Joab i erlid ar l Seba fab Bichri.
13When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
14 Aeth Seba trwy holl lwythau Israel nes cyrraedd Abel-beth-maacha, ac ymgasglodd yr holl Bichriaid a'i ddilyn.
14He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, and to Beth Maacah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.
15 Pan gyrhaeddodd holl fyddin Joab, rhoesant warchae arno yn Abel-beth-maacha a chodi gwarchglawdd yn erbyn y ddinas, a thurio i ddymchwel y mur.
15They came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah, and they cast up a mound against the city, and it stood against the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.
16 Yna safodd gwraig ddoeth ar yr amddiffynfa a gweiddi o'r ddinas, "Gwrandewch, gwrandewch, a dywedwch wrth Joab am iddo ddod yma i mi gael siarad ag ef."
16Then a wise woman cried out of the city, “Hear, hear! Please say to Joab, ‘Come near here, that I may speak with you.’”
17 Daeth yntau ati, a gofynnodd y wraig, "Ai ti yw Joab?" "Ie," meddai yntau. Yna dywedodd hi wrtho, "Gwrando ar eiriau dy lawforwyn," ac atebodd yntau, "Rwy'n gwrando."
17He came near to her; and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” He answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Hear the words of your handmaid.” He answered, “I do hear.”
18 Ac meddai hi, "Byddent yn arfer dweud ers talwm, 'Dim ond iddynt geisio cyngor yn Abel, a dyna ben ar y peth.'
18Then she spoke, saying, “They were used to say in old times, ‘They shall surely ask counsel at Abel;’ and so they settled it.
19 Un o rai heddychol a ffyddlon Israel wyf fi, ond yr wyt ti'n ceisio distrywio dinas sy'n fam yn Israel. Pam yr wyt am ddifetha etifeddiaeth yr ARGLWYDD?"
19I am among those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up the inheritance of Yahweh?”
20 Atebodd Joab a dweud, "Pell y bo, pell y bo oddi wrthyf! Nid wyf am ddifetha na distrywio.
20Joab answered, “Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.
21 Nid felly y mae; ond dyn o fynydd-dir Effraim, o'r enw Seba fab Bichri, sydd wedi codi yn erbyn y Brenin Dafydd; dim ond i chwi ei roi ef imi, fe adawaf y ddinas." Dywedodd y wraig wrth Joab, "Fe deflir ei ben iti dros y mur."
21The matter is not so. But a man of the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, even against David. Deliver him only, and I will depart from the city.” The woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall.”
22 Yna fe aeth y wraig yn ei doethineb at yr holl bobl; torrwyd pen Seba fab Bichri a'i daflu i Joab. Seiniodd yntau'r utgorn, gadawyd y ddinas, a gwasgarodd pawb i'w cartrefi. Dychwelodd Joab i Jerwsalem at y brenin.
22Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. They cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and threw it out to Joab. He blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
23 Joab oedd dros holl fyddin Israel, a Benaia fab Jehoiada dros y Cerethiaid a'r Pelethiaid.
23Now Joab was over all the army of Israel; and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites;
24 Adoram oedd dros y llafur gorfod, a Jehosaffat fab Ahilud oedd y cofiadur.
24and Adoram was over the men subject to forced labor; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder;
25 Sefa oedd yr ysgrifennydd, a Sadoc ac Abiathar yn offeiriaid.
25and Sheva was scribe; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
26 Yr oedd Ira y Jairiad hefyd yn offeiriad i Ddafydd.
26and also Ira the Jairite was chief minister to David.
