1 Ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg o'r deuddegfed mis, sef Adar, daeth yr amser i gyflawni gair a gorchymyn y brenin. Trowyd y diwrnod, y gobeithiai gelynion yr Iddewon eu trechu arno, yn ddiwrnod i'r Iddewon drechu eu caseion.
1Now in the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the month, when the king’s commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, on the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to conquer them, (but it was turned out the opposite happened, that the Jews conquered those who hated them),
2 Unodd yr Iddewon yn eu dinasoedd ym mhob un o daleithiau'r Brenin Ahasferus i ymosod ar y rhai oedd yn ceisio'u niweidio. Ni wrthwynebodd neb hwy, oherwydd yr oedd ar yr holl bobl eu hofn.
2the Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus, to lay hands on those who wanted to harm them. No one could withstand them, because the fear of them had fallen on all the people.
3 Cawsant eu cynorthwyo gan dywysogion y taleithiau, y pendefigion, y rheolwyr a gweision y brenin, am fod arnynt ofn Mordecai.
3All the princes of the provinces, the satraps, the governors, and those who did the king’s business helped the Jews, because the fear of Mordecai had fallen on them.
4 Oherwydd yr oedd Mordecai yn flaenllaw yn y palas ac yn adnabyddus drwy'r holl daleithiau, ac yr oedd yn ennill mwy a mwy o rym.
4For Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces; for the man Mordecai grew greater and greater.
5 Trawodd yr Iddewon eu holl elynion 'r cleddyf, a'u lladd a'u difa; a gwnaethant fel y mynnent 'u caseion.
5The Jews struck all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and with slaughter and destruction, and did what they wanted to those who hated them.
6 Yn Susan y brifddinas yr oeddent wedi llofruddio a lladd pum cant o bobl,
6In the citadel of Susa, the Jews killed and destroyed five hundred men.
7 yn cynnwys Parsandatha, Dalffon, Aspatha,
7They killed Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha,
8 Poratha, Adaleia, Aridatha,
8Poratha, Adalia, Aridatha,
9 Parmasta, Arisai, Aridai, Bajesatha,
9Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vaizatha,
10 sef deg mab Haman fab Hammedatha, gelyn yr Iddewon. Lladdodd yr Iddewon y rhain, ond heb gyffwrdd 'r ysbail.
10the ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Jew’s enemy, but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.
11 Y diwrnod hwnnw, pan glywodd y brenin faint a laddwyd yn Susan y brifddinas,
11On that day, the number of those who were slain in the citadel of Susa was brought before the king.
12 dywedodd wrth y Frenhines Esther, "Y mae'r Iddewon wedi lladd pum cant o bobl a deg mab Haman yn Susan y brifddinas. Beth a wnaethant yn y gweddill o daleithiau'r brenin? Yn awr, beth a fynni? Fe'i cei. Os oes gennyt unrhyw ddymuniad arall, fe'i gwneir."
12The king said to Esther the queen, “The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in the citadel of Susa, including the ten sons of Haman; what then have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces! Now what is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your further request? It shall be done.”
13 Meddai Esther, "Os gwl y brenin yn dda, rhodder caniatd i'r Iddewon sydd yn Susan i weithredu yfory hefyd yn l y wu375?s a gyhoeddir heddiw, a chroger deg mab Haman ar y crocbren."
13Then Esther said, “If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Shushan to do tomorrow also according to this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows.”
14 Gorchmynnodd y brenin i hyn gael ei wneud, a chyhoeddwyd y wu375?s yn Susan, a chrogwyd deg mab Haman.
14The king commanded this to be done. A decree was given out in Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.
15 Ar y pedwerydd dydd ar ddeg o fis Adar ymunodd yr Iddewon oedd yn Susan i ladd tri chant o bobl yn Susan, ond heb gyffwrdd 'r ysbail.
15The Jews who were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and killed three hundred men in Shushan; but they didn’t lay their hand on the spoil.
16 Yr oedd yr Iddewon yn nhaleithiau'r brenin wedi ymuno i'w hamddiffyn eu hunain, er mwyn cael llonydd gan eu gelynion; yr oeddent wedi lladd saith deg a phump o filoedd o'u caseion, ond heb gyffwrdd 'r ysbail.
16The other Jews who were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, defended their lives, had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy-five thousand of those who hated them; but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.
17 Digwyddodd hyn ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg o fis Adar; peidiasant ar y pedwerydd dydd ar ddeg, a gwnaethant hwnnw'n ddydd o wledd a llawenydd.
17This was done on the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of that month they rested and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
18 Yr oedd Iddewon Susan wedi ymgasglu ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg o'r mis, a'r pedwerydd ar ddeg, ac wedi peidio ar y pymthegfed dydd; felly cadwasant hwy hwnnw yn ddydd o wledd a llawenydd.
18But the Jews who were in Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth and on the fourteenth days of the month; and on the fifteenth day of that month, they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
19 Dyna pam y mae'r Iddewon sy'n byw mewn pentrefi yn y wlad yn cadw'r pedwerydd ar ddeg o fis Adar yn ddydd o wledd a llawenydd a gu373?yl, ac yn anfon anrhegion i'w gilydd.
19Therefore the Jews of the villages, who live in the unwalled towns, make the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, a good day, and a day of sending presents of food to one another.
20 Rhoddodd Mordecai y pethau hyn ar gof a chadw, ac anfonodd lythyrau at yr holl Iddewon ym mhob un o daleithiau'r Brenin Ahasferus, ymhell ac agos,
20Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both near and far,
21 yn galw arnynt i gadw'r pedwerydd ar ddeg a'r pymthegfed o fis Adar bob blwyddyn
21to enjoin them that they should keep the fourteenth and fifteenth days of the month Adar yearly,
22 fel y dyddiau pan gafodd yr Iddewon lonydd gan eu gelynion, a'r mis pan drowyd eu tristwch yn llawenydd a'u galar yn u373?yl. Yr oeddent i'w cadw'n ddyddiau o wledd a llawenydd, a phawb yn anfon anrhegion i'w gilydd ac i'r tlodion.
22as the days in which the Jews had rest from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning into a good day; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, and of sending presents of food to one another, and gifts to the needy.
23 Cytunodd yr Iddewon i wneud fel yr oeddent wedi dechrau, ac yn l yr hyn a ysgrifennodd Mordecai atynt.
23The Jews accepted the custom that they had begun, as Mordecai had written to them;
24 Gwnaethant hyn am fod Haman fab Hammedatha yr Agagiad, gelyn yr Iddewon, wedi cynllwyn i'w dinistrio, ac wedi bwrw Pwr, hynny yw coelbren, i'w difa a'u dinistrio.
24because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had plotted against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast “Pur,” that is the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;
25 Ond pan ddaeth hyn i sylw'r brenin, gorchmynnodd mewn llythyr fod cynllwyn drwg Haman yn erbyn yr Iddewon i ddychwelyd ar ei ben ef ei hun; felly crogwyd ef a'i feibion ar grocbren.
25but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he had devised against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
26 Am hynny galwyd y dyddiau hyn yn Pwrim, o'r enw Pwr. Oherwydd yr holl eiriau a ysgrifennwyd yn y llythyr hwn, ac oherwydd yr hyn a welsant ac a glywsant ynglu375?n 'r mater,
26Therefore they called these days “Purim, Purim is the Hebrew plural for pur, which means lot. ” from the word “Pur.” Therefore because of all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and that which had come to them,
27 addawodd ac ymrwymodd yr Iddewon, ar eu rhan eu hunain, a'u plant a phawb oedd yn ymuno hwy, i gadw'r ddau ddiwrnod hyn bob blwyddyn mewn modd arbennig ac ar amser penodedig.
27the Jews established, and imposed on themselves, and on their descendants, and on all those who joined themselves to them, so that it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to what was written, and according to its appointed time, every year;
28 Addawsant gofio a chadw'r dyddiau hynny ym mhob cenhedlaeth, teulu, talaith a dinas, fel na fyddai'r Iddewon yn anwybyddu dyddiau Pwrim, na'u plant yn anghofio amdanynt.
28and that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor their memory perish from their seed.
29 Yna ysgrifennodd y Frenhines Esther ferch Abihail, a Mordecai'r Iddew, ag awdurdod llawn i gadarnhau'r ail lythyr hwn ynglu375?n Pwrim.
29Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority to confirm this second letter of Purim.
30 Anfonwyd llythyrau i'r holl Iddewon yn y cant dau ddeg a saith o daleithiau teyrnas Ahasferus, yn dymuno iddynt heddwch a diogelwch,
30He sent letters to all the Jews, to the hundred twenty-seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,
31 ac yn eu cymell i gadw dyddiau Pwrim yn eu hamser priodol, yn l gorchymyn Mordecai'r Iddew a'r Frenhines Esther, ac fel yr oeddent hwy wedi ymrwymo ar eu rhan eu hunain a'u plant ynglu375?n ag amserau ympryd a galar.
31to confirm these days of Purim in their appointed times, as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had decreed, and as they had imposed upon themselves and their descendants, in the matter of the fastings and their cry.
32 Cadarnhaodd gorchymyn Esther y rheolau hyn ar gyfer Pwrim, ac fe'u rhoddwyd ar gof a chadw.
32The commandment of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.
